Beautiful well done illustrations

Beautiful well done illustrations, a well told story generate a great book to read to your children that you will certainly enjoy as an adult. This is a somewhat allegorical story that everyone can relate to in growing up or even an adult, the temptations and too good to be true things that we are sucked into (especially by advertising). So we learn to distance ourselves, hopefully, and select what we need and not overcharge credit cards and can discriminate between what we are told and what is true.

beautiful story, BEAUTIFUL edition

No Lie

Even though these were not the illustrations I recall from the book I read as a child, I found them captivating. The feeling was very similar to those I recall, and I am very happy to be adding this book to my little library. I gave it four stars

The Best Version of Pinocchio Out There

This book is the original Pinocchio and is a literary masterpiece. It is the perfect story for a child aged 6 and over, because Pinocchio goes through the same dilemmas and tests that all humans must go through in less obvious forms before they can reach true humanity. Until that time, Pinocchio remains wooden. It is a wonderful metaphor for children to imbibe. The humor brightens the otherwise 'horror' situations that Pinocchio finds himself in.

the stories are great! many of these stories have been retold over and over again in various ways, so they are great at getting back to the real story.

my 2.5 & 3.5 year olds LOVE these stories and repeatedly ask for their turn to choose the next story to listen to. definitely recommend this for young children (and long car rides or running errands). and i enjoy them too!

Love this story!

Great way to hear the classics

My son (7 years old) loves books and I love reading the classics to him. But I'm finding it harder and harder to find time to read to him. When I found Plain Tales I was so excited to discover a new way to "read" the classics to my son. I play the CD's while he's in the bath or playing with Legos or getting ready for bed and he loves them. We've listened to "Paul Bunyan and Other Tall Tales" and "Johnny Appleseed and Other American Legends." The stories on the Johnny Appleseed CD are actually biographies but read in a captivating way as if they were stories. The narrators are fabulous. They have pleasant voices to listen to and use fun character-voices too. My son also enjoys the special song at the beginning and end of the CD's. I am very pleased with Plain Tales and look forward to listening to more classic stories.
