Great book!

I bought this for my 8 year old son to replace the school library book he thought he'd lost. Luckily he found the original and we got to keep this one! It arrived fairly quickly and in prefect condition. It's a great story and I love this writer, he makes reading fun for kids which is a huge plus. I highly recommend this book and all books by Geronimo Stilton, you won't be disappointed!

Do not buy the Kindle version

I just bought 2 of this series in Kindle version and the printing and pictures are so tiny I couldn't even read it. I asked for tech help, and they told me that there is no way to make it larger! They did expedite returning, but my granddaughter loves this series, and I wish we could have made it work.

They never disappoint.

The story is the familiar one: the prophet Jonah is swallowed by a whale when he refuses to warn the people of Nineveh about their wickedness, but he later relents and learns about the power of God. Performer Neil Innes' regal, British-accented baritone is pleasant and creates a sense of drama around the tale. A wonderful way for kids to be introduced to this important Bible story and common cultural allusion.

The narrator was awesome but my niece who I bought it for though they needed some better pictures. The story was to the point though. it was good overall.

Best audio book with synchronized images

Even though it's only 5min long, it has to be one of the best books with synchronized images on this website. On top of that, it's one of the most unique and entertaining stories from Gods word. Great find. Audible needs to produce books like this.

Inspires Creativity and Celebrates Oddness

This was one of my favorites as a young boy (perhaps 4 or 5 years old). The illustrations are marvelous and just odd enough to be very inspiring. Each page's illustration evokes dozens of stories beyond the plot. I credit this book, over all the other illustrated books I read as a child, as the one that made me want to learn to draw; now I am portrait artist, muralist and cartoonist.

Another reviewer thinks it's overtly sexual: I disagree. It's about creativity, inter-generational friendship, and how odd and wonderful the world is. Yet, the story certainly feels European in its sensibilities. For the North American child, I think this book will expose him or her to a story and image style that is culturally expansive, much like watching BBC shows on PBS.

I am excited to buy this book for my godson.

One of our favorite children's books by one of our favorite authors. Such a joy to discover!

One of my favorite stories

Wonderful story, excellent illustrations, (with the intricacies and detail that make Ungerer so fascinating), and brilliant use of high level language in a children's story. I really love this story, and it's not a common, over-told same old theme. In addition, it's backed up with those incredible pictures on each page to keep kids constantly entertained, and to help them figure out the meaning of those higher-level words peppered throughout this tale. Another great success.

Another Tomi Ungerer classic

Loved this charming and mischievous book, as will children. Tomi Ungerer is a wonderful children's book author and illustrator - insufficiently admired in my humble view. The book has a witty ending and a sweet lesson.

Cute story! Teaches a lesson in selfishness and consequences

My son watches Qubo, and Sammy's Story Shop featured this book and I thought it was really cute. Norvin is an excellent swimmer, but doesn't like to share the cove he enjoys swimming in with other people. So *spolier alert* he pretends to be a shark to scare everyone away and keep the cove to himself. But Norvin quickly learns a lesson in selfishness, and the consequences you may suffer if you don't share. I thought my husband would like the book, but he didn't like it as much as I do. Regardless, we'll continue to read this great story to our little boy.

A GREAT story for 2nd Graders

I use this book every year as the intro to a project with my 2nd graders. After reading about and seeing Norvin dressed up as a shark, I have them make a new "Halloween" costume for Norvin. Their creative efforts never fail to surprise and impress me.

Great book - not too frightening, good moral

My son likes scary things, but gets frightened by most! He loves this book because it features a (not-too) scary shark and a (not-too) scary situation. Norvin, a boy who looks amazingly like a shark, learns the hard way not to 'cry wolf' -- or, in this case, 'cry shark'! Adult-ish humor included for those reading to the little ones -- I love this book.

I read this book to my 8-year old grandchild when she was a toddler and just purchased another one for my new grand daughter. It is a timeless story and there are many ways to talk about the plot and the characters.

A must have

John Brown, Rose & the Midnight Cat

I bought this book some 25 years ago for my children. It got worn out from constant reading and I've always wanted to have another copy. I was delighted to find it still in print at Amazon; it's one of the best stories for young children, ever. My adult children can still recite it word for word!

A wonderful book from Australia, with great art and beautifully written. Buy the hardback if you can find it. It is a story about a woman who lives with her devoted dog. A cat wants to move in too, but the dog is jealous. very sweet. My 3 year old granddaughter likes it. My 93 year old mother also likes it.
