Duck-The Most Fun One Can Have During an Election!

We love this book! It is hillarious and more fun than any presidential election that my students can imagine! We have read and read and read this book and looked at every detail of the pictures. That's what is so great about this book: that you get something new from it with each reading of it. It is a favorite that is requested over and over. Our lesson learned is that we have to work hard in all things but. We can also have fun doIng it!

Another great book!

Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin are a fantastic pairing. Their books are entertaining for both kids and adults. This one doesn't disappoint!

Wonderful Story

I read this book to my daughter when it first came out in ~2004. It was a beloved bedtime story. Unfortunately I lost the book in a move. When our next child came along a couple years ago, I *had* to get a new copy! I'm keeping this copy close to hand no matter how many "coffee stains" may get on the book!

Highly recommended!!!

A favorite with our two-year-old

Our two-year-old adores this book. She made me read it over and over when it first arrived, sometimes three or four times a day. We adjusted the ending to suit her age -- Giovanni falls asleep at the end instead of dying. It's worth reading once through if your child is very young to decide how you want to handle that. On the plus side, she loved learning the interesting words like Sorrento, Giovanni and maestro. She caught on to the concept that Giovanni was aging throughout the book, and had a lot of fun spotting him in each picture and saying, "There's Giovanni!" She also learned the words "serious" and "stern," which came in handy when trying to explain other books to her. ("Why is Olivia's mommy mad?" "She's not mad, she's just *stern* because Olivia wants to read five bedtime stories and her mommy just wants to read one.") Lastly, it teaches the beautiful concept that bringing joy to others also honors God.

Beautiful story!

I read it to my children when they were little, but will NOT ever part with my copy! I purchased this copy for my daughter who lives across the country, to read to my grandson. For those who have not read this precious story, the name of this book alone is so moving, you KNOW it will be an incredible story, and it surely is.

I loved this story when we checked it out of the library. How fun it was to give it to my newest grand niece at her baby shower. It has a tough story line because someone dies, but the message that a life well lived has great reward is an awesome message for children of all ages makes this book a classic.

My Introduction Book to Tomie

I was at a book fair in Chicago many years ago and Tomie dePaola was signing a book. I LOVE children's books and illustrations, and the colors are what first caught my eye. Then, being able to meet the author was amazing. When I got home and actually read the story, I was thrilled by the story of The Clown of God. Tomie has a wonderful way of writing, coupled with his extraordinary illustrations. I bought this book to share with a beautiful young lady, I hope she loves it as much as I.

A maturing story

Would you consider the audio edition of How to Seize a Dragon's Jewel to be better than the print version?

Listening to David Tennant brings the story alive in a way I never manage when reading the paper version to my children at bedtime so yes.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hiccup, all of the dragons, camicazi and Fishlegs. They are gawky, funny kind, loyal and brave.

What about David Tennants performance did you like?

All of it.

My kids grew up listening to Naxos CDs on the way to school and long car rides. Over the years we all learned so much about history and science. Our favorites were the Tales of Troy and the Ancient Greeks. Stories from the Old Testament is a good title, and my kids enjoyed listening to it. I highly recommend any of the Naxos Junior Classics.

Nice series I've not heard of before

I work with kids with special needs and they enjoyed this book even though I had never heard of it before. I think it's a cute series.

Cute story!

My 5-year-old daughter enjoyed reading this book with me. She thought the snowcats were super cute. I would recommend this to anyone who likes Splat the Cat books.

My kids can't get enough of Splat the Cat! And now Amazon has made it virtually "fool proof" to obtain on my Kindle Fire HD. The colors are so amazing, and superb quality for the price!! Great book series

Very well written and beautifully illustrated book series. The reading level rating seems accurate enough and it's very refreshing that even books at the easiest level have great language and story.

Splat is at it again!

Splat the Cat is a lovable character that my students love. The book is fun to read and helps with teaching important word work skills in my classroom. I enjoy reading about Splat and his friends and look forward to reading about his new adventures.
