    Language: English
    Release date: 03-24-09

    Publisher's Summary:
What kind of top secret project could the military be engaged in that would require the services of a foremost marine biologist and a genetic researcher? The possibilities are ominous, but not as ominous as the truth.
And then the unthinkable tragedy that everyone feared since 9/11 explodes with a terrifying sense of déjà vu - in San Francisco.
Suddenly, with a second scientist presumed dead, an unidentified charred body in the morgue, and the "accidental" parachute death of a friend in a Florida training field, Cooper is following a trail as narrow and as dangerous as a knife edge - a trail that leads to what we all fear most: a secret "government" within our government whose sworn duty is to kill anyone who opposes them.

    GREAT Writer!
I get so wrapped up in the Vin Cooper character, sometimes I forget to laugh. Really! Then I reread it and Im in hysterics. Rollin's writing is perfect, storyline, flow, rythymn, its all great.
    Nice plot twists
David Rollins has written three mysteries into a page turning novel. This book will hold your ìnterest from the first to the last page. David Rollins does not disappoint .
    A great read!!
I'm a big fan of David Rollins and this book is a perfect addition to your library.
    An Entertaining Read
A deep-sea scientist is eaten by a shark and skydiving accident of a former Combat Controller buddy have to be solved by Vin Cooper.
These two relatively independent events are found by Vin Cooper to have a connection with global implications.
David Rollins has in this second book further developed the character of the sarcastic but effective Special Investigator Vin Cooper.
This is an action packed tale mingled with the in your face personality of the protagonist. The story is fast paced with many twists and turns. Thoroughly enjoyed the book and did not want it to end.
The high point of the story is the HALO jump. A little hard to believe but stranger actual events have happened in skydiving.
I found it a good follow up to his first book "The Death Trust". Unlike some follow-ups the second is as good as the first and look forward to the further adventures of Investigator Cooper.
Very interesting series. Lots of plot turns.
Enjoyed books 1&2 very much. Keeps you thinking and working to figure out what's going to happen next and who was responsible for what happened so far.

Suddenly the site is swarmed with television crews and FBI agents trying to work the mystery. As word gets out and filmmakers, environmentalists, and others threaten to flock to Montana to exploit its resources, tensions rise to the boiling point.
    Critic Reviews:
"Bowen's exuberant storytelling mines the rich cultural history of the West." (Publishers Weekly)
"The Du Pre mysteries are never as focused on dead bodies as they are on the clash of cultures....A solid entry in a great series." (Booklist)
    Members Reviews:
    Great Listen
I love these books, and am sorry that this is the last one in audio format. Mr. Lane does a great job reading this Gabriel Du Pre mystery. Alas, there is a sequel to Cruzatte and Maria
But it hasn't been recorded, (is anyone listening, (no pun intended)). I expect I'll to read it.
    Back in good form
I seem to recall that Bowen had a little trouble getting a very wealthy man integrated into the stories. This time it it pretty well works.
Not sure as well what the Metis accent really sounds like--the narrator's voice and the one I had in my head when reading the first couple of books are different. But I've no idea which--if either--of us is correct.
But the book is fun--Dupree gets involved with a movie company--at least partly because there was a Metis fiddler on the Lewis and Clark expedition--the Cruzatte in the title. Maria is one of Dupree's daughters--and the one who both drags Dupree into the situation and then becomes much more involved herself.
After a previous movie company, to put it politely, put everyone in the county's back up, after most of the land on the river is sold to outsiders, after some rabid environmentalists LOUDLY voice their opinion that all white humans, even those whose family has been there for well over a century, be evicted so that buffalo can be reintroduced in something like their previous numbers--people start being killed on the river. A couple of FBI agents say that since Maria is already at the film location, Dupree can easily fit in without arousing the killers.
There are a bear and a dog who manage to steal scenes, and one of Dupree's granddaughters, a truly precocious 7-year old, who has an encounter with one of the FBI agents so funny that I had to pull my car over to the side of the road and not crash for laughing so hard.

What made the experience of listening to McNally's Secret the most enjoyable?
    Nathan Lane
Who was your favorite character and why?
I'm a fan of the series and Archie is of course my favorite character though, I do get a kick out of his father.
What about Nathan Lanes performance did you like?
He didn't overvamp it, didn't "Birdcage" it. He was able to deliver the "fashion" lines believable.
    Any additional comments?
Another of my favorite series that since I can not get the books for my kindle, I can still listen to them

    Title: Privileged Information
Subtitle: A Dr. Alan Gregory Mystery
    Author: Stephen White
    Narrator: Dick Hill
    Format: Abridged
Length: 6 hrs and 6 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-30-08
    Publisher: Brilliance Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 87 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
He launches a psychological and personal quest for the truth that rapidly intensifies when more of his patients die untimely deaths, and Gregory suspects not only that the deaths are related but that another one of his patients may be somehow involved. Lacking facts but roused by suspicion and troubled by seemingly random acts of terror around him, Gregory starts to fear for the safety of the people he loves.
The question of the inviolability of confidential disclosures made to Gregory by his patients - privileged information - becomes crucial as the psychologist pursues an unsettling romance with Lauren Crowder, a lovely deputy district attorney investigating one of the deaths. Bound to silence, Gregory follows the psychological tracks of someone he fears may be a cunning and disturbed killer, while turning to his enigmatic but supportive partner, Diane Estevez, for counsel, and to his tart-tongued female urologist neighbor for support.
The sinister, surprising drama unfolds against Boulder's Rocky Mountain backdrop, in the arresting natural beauty of Aspen, and in the midst of a baroque Halloween costume party in downtown Boulder. Finally, in a lonely mountain lodge enshrouded in menace, the story comes to its breathtaking climax.
    Members Reviews:
Stephen White fun to listen to as a Boulder born
person it's fun to look back as a lot has changed. Good listen narrated well
No characters here to be sympathetic with. Trite
It's not very long because it's abridged so you can kind of muscle your way through this very predictable mystery.

Great book in the long-running series
If you like Marcia Muller you will like this book. I have read only a few of her books and I don't remember liking those as much as I liked this one. Sharon McCone, the story's main P.I., is an enjoyable character. She is tough and smart, but very human, as well. There is quite a lot of her personal life in the book, but that didn't bother me or digress too much from the mystery.
I loved the mystery of what happened to the missing woman all those years ago. It kept me listening on and on, well past my bedtime.
If you don't know Marcia Muller's work, I think this would be a good introduction into the series. Just don't worry too much about all the family and friends you are introduced to in the beginning and you'll do fine.
    Another GREAT Marcia Muller book!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen to this book in a couple days - any chance I got I listened. I kept thinking it was ending but just keep on going stronger.
    IT'S OK
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Im in the middle I didn't dislike it nor did it blow me away
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
To be honest I just bought it because I like Susan erickson she is a awesome narrator
What about Susan Ericksens performance did you like?
She is great only reason I bought this one since listening to the jb Robb series
Do you think Vanishing Point needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
    Nope
    Any additional comments?
Going to give her one more try ang get the running man
    Very entertaining

    Deborah and Dwight Get Married
Much of this book is about the wedding - the parties, bridal showers, extended families and clothes. If you are not interested in these things, you could skip this book and go on to the next in the series.
There is a mystery with some pretty good plot twists, but it seemed to be an afterthought. I did not get the same "sense of place" from this story as I have from earlier entries in the series.
Even so, Margaret Maron is one of my three favorite authors and I will continue to read this series.
    Good as usual
Where does Rituals of the Season rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
If always love her characters and her lively writing style
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
    No
Have you listened to any of C. J. Critts other performances before? How does this one compare?
An excellent narrator of Maron and Joan Hess. She really nails the accent
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Title: Blackwater Sound
    Author: James W. Hall
    Narrator: Dick Hill

    Language: English
    Release date: 10-21-08
    Publisher: Brilliance Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 20 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
Ten years later, a huge airliner crashes in the steamy shallows off the Florida coast, killing all aboard. Helping pull bodies from the water, Thorn finds himself drawn into a bizarre conspiracy: someone has developed a high tech weapon capable of destroying electrical systems in a powerful flash. The terrorist potential is huge. How are the secretive Braswells and their family-owned company, MicroDyne, involved? And what does it have to do with the family's obsessive hunt for the great marlin that killed their golden boy?
With the Braswells, James W. Hall introduces one of the most evil and dysfunctional families in the history of fiction. And, along with Thorn, he brings back favorite characters from his earlier books, including Alexandra Rafferty and her father, Lawton Collins, a retired and increasingly dotty former police investigator whose methods of investigation result in his kidnapping. A story that bristles with all the heat and tension of a tropical Florida summer, Blackwater Sound is destined to rank among the greatest suspense thrillers of the new decade.
    Members Reviews:
    Cliched and Cartoonish
This book engages every gimmick in the 'mystery man as hero' genre while it fails to engage my interest. Formulaic and predictable, trite and ponderous, it fails to build the tension it sorely needs.
Garden variety villains spouting stilted dialogue as characters stutter start but never gain traction in the absurd premise.
Perhaps I have heard one too many Dick Hill renderings, as his lack of voices to accommodate the diverse players was glaringly obvious. Almost corny enough to be a parody, this tiresome attempt puts me off Hall for good. Hall just tries a little too hard to live up to his own high opinion of himself as an artist and the result is more than a little disappointing.

    Sofie done wrong....
I love the Sofie Metropolis series, I really do, but this one was just kind of "eh". I think the narrator used on the previous books did such a great job (especially with the accents) but this one was not very good. Everytime she tried to read Rosie, I cringed -- instead of getting the plucky Puerto Rican's personality, we got something like a Russian/Oriental-esque accent. Don't even get me started on Jake. UGH. Please bring back the original narrator and continue to write these fun books. They are very entertaining, and I want to "see" what happens to Sofie, sans Allyson Ryan.
how much longer is this thing?
I have enjoyed the beginnings of the Sofie Metropolis series but will have to agree with the other reviewer that this book is NOT very good and it is certainly NOT enhanced by the lifeless rendition of the characters by the narrator. Unfortunately, in a talking book, everything rests on the narrator's shoulders...the ability to make a so-so book better not the least of it! The narrator did not step up to the plate on this one...nor did the writers.

    enjoyable
Carolyn hart seems to be getting a second win this is the 2nd book in a row that got the old interesting stories.
most are good but there was 3 in a row that seemed a bit paper thin. but gladly this is great well worth a read.
Don't Ignore a Plea For Help
What made the experience of listening to Death Walked In the most enjoyable?
The characters keep growing. I miss some of the old one's though.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Death Walked In?
I'm a Laurel fan so anytime she is in the mix it's enjoyable. Emma's a blast to the scenes as well.
Did Kate Reading do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Definitely could tell the difference between character quite well. Really good at the whinny one's.
    Love this series!
I love all of the Death in Demand stories. The characters are believable and interesting. They help me escape my world for a little while and enter another. Mysteries are my favorite, especially the ones I can't figure out before the end of the book. With this series, sometimes I am surprised at who done it!
The narrator was good for this story. She did voices for differtent characters. It was a good listen.
    Narration Distracting
The voices of many of the characters in this audible version are so poorly done that I found it hard to get past them and lose myself in the story. The absolutely worst is Max Darling. I know it's difficult for a female narrator to do male voices, but she made Max sound old, supercilious, and completely out of character. He's supposed to be a cool, young guy and he sounded anything but. The story itself was entertaining although I felt certain of the murderer's identity early on and I prefer a plot that keeps me guessing until the end.
