    Title: Leading Continuous Change
Subtitle: Navigating Churn in the Real World
Author: Bill Pasmore, John R. Ryan - foreword
    Narrator: Jeff Cummings
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 47 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-17-15
    Publisher: Brilliance Audio
Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 4 votes
    Genres: Business, Commerce & Economy
    Publisher's Summary:
It's not news that globalization and ever-faster technological innovation have increased the pace of change exponentially. Existing change models were devised to deal with individual changes, one by one, but that's not a luxury leaders have any more. Bill Pasmore, senior vice president at the Center for Creative Leadership and a professor at Columbia University, offers a four-part model that will allow leaders to deal with multiple changes simultaneously without drowning in the churn.
First, Pasmore urges leaders to think fewer. He shows you how to "back away from the buffet table" - sort through the dizzying array of potential change efforts you could undertake and identify a few focused "healthy" choices that will most benefit your organization. Next, Pasmore says, think scarcer - be realistic about the resources you actually have at your disposal, including how many people in your organization are willing and able to lead change efforts. Then, having narrowed your choices, allocated your resources, and found your change agents, you need to think faster. Pasmore offers advice for streamlining change processes, getting buy-in throughout the organization, and increasing the pace of change. And finally, he says, think smarter: build in processes to learn from change initiatives while they're happening and apply that learning to new and ongoing change initiatives.
Change is not the problem - thinking about change in old-fashioned narrow and prescribed terms is. Recognizing it for the complex machine that it is and accurately taking stock of your resources and speed is what works.

A Must For The Change Manager
Great book if you are serious about implementing change! This book is based on practice and experience. This is a must read for those working in organizational change!
    Five Stars
    Perfect.
    Assigned reading
This book reads quickly because it makes such good sense. It provides leadership guidance that anyone leading an organization, or any work activity, will immediately put to practical use. I found it all intuitively obvious; that is, after Pasmore pointed it out. Itâs provides perspective that I donât think many people will forget. As a professor, I have to be careful about what I ask my professionally employed children to read. If only it were thin enough to slip under their doors anonymously. It will be on the reading list for my professionally employed MBAs.
    Brilliant!
A brilliantly laid out model for navigating the complex continuous change which is hallmark of our world today. A must read for all leaders.

    Title: We Are Market Basket
Subtitle: The Story of the Unlikely Grassroots Movement That Saved a Beloved Business
    Author: Daniel Korschun, Grant Welker
    Narrator: Tom Parks
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 36 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-12-15
    Publisher: Brilliance Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 20 votes
    Genres: Business, Commerce & Economy
    Publisher's Summary:
What if a company were so treasured and trusted that people literally took to the streets - by the thousands - to save it? That company is Market Basket, a popular New England supermarket chain. After long-time, CEO Arthur T. Demoulas was ousted by his cousin Arthur S. Demoulas, the company's managers and rank-and-file workers struck back. Risking their own livelihoods to restore the job of their beloved boss they walked out, but they didn't walk far. At huge protest rallies, they were joined by loyal customers - leaving stores empty. Suppliers and vendors stopped deliveries - rendering shelves bare. Politicians were forced to take sides. The national media and experts were stunned by the unprecedented defense of an executive. All openly challenged the Market Basket board of directors to make things right. And, in the end, they prevailed. With its arresting firsthand accounts from the streets and executive suites, We Are Market Basket is as inspiring as it is instructive. What is it about Market Basket and its leader that provokes such ferocious loyalty? How does a company spread across three states maintain a culture that embraces everyone - from cashier to customer - as family? Can a company really become an industry leader by prioritizing stakeholders over shareholders? Set against a backdrop of bad blood and corporate greed, We Are Market Basket chronicles the epic rise, fall, and redemption of this iconic and uniquely American company.

    Publisher's Summary:
The Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek best seller - fully revised and updated.
The old cliché is that smart companies underpromise and overdeliver. But in today's crowded market, underpromising is a ticket to oblivion.
Companies like American Girl, Best Buy, and Apple came out of nowhere to dominate their markets. How did they scoop up their bigger and wealthier competition? It wasn't through a fat marketing budget. It was because they made, and kept, dangerously ambitious promises. In fact, they overpromised to lure customers in - and then overdelivered to keep them.
Rick Barrera shows how to make sure that every point of contact between your company and its customers is well executed and fulfills an over-the-top brand promise to drive word of mouth and rapid growth.

  • How to Start a Successful Food Truck Business Audiobook by J. D. Rockefeller

Title: How to Start a Successful Food Truck Business
    Author: J. D. Rockefeller

    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 27 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-28-15
    Publisher: J.D. Rockefeller
Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 11 votes
    Genres: Business, Commerce & Economy
    Publisher's Summary:
In today's world a different generation of street-food lovers is queuing up at food carts and food trucks like never seen before. But what they don't know is that food trucks are not new to the streets. Just as with many other trends, these are the latest version of part of a longstanding American and global culture. And yet the street-food industry hasn't ever enjoyed such notoriety or publicity.
Based on statistics from IBISWorld, a research firm in Los Angeles, the street-food business, including nonmerchandized carts and mobile food trucks, is a billion-dollar industry that has experienced an 8.4 percent increase over the five years between 2007 and 2012. It is a very entrepreneurial approach, with 78 percent of operators employing four or fewer employees. The actual number of these entities is difficult to compile, as the entire mobile food industry is made of food carts, kiosks, and food trucks, which can be found in trains, bus stations, airports, malls resorts, conference centers, stadiums, and other locations.
Experts in the food industry claim that food-truck businesses are on the increase, largely because of a slow-moving economy. More and more people are looking for relatively cheaper breakfasts and lunches. In addition, today's employees are often in a hurry, with more working time than lunch hours. Such contributing factors make the food truck concept more appealing than ever.

To brief to be much use
This goes about as deep as investing manual that says "buy low, sell high". I was looking for something that would at least give me a starting point on thinking through the food truck business. Noting that you need licensing and permitting isn't quite a sufficient level of discussion.
    Dissatisfied
Super short and didnt learn anything. I'm super bummed I spent a credit on this. The voice was boring as well.
    good listen
Pretty straight forward. this has pointed me in the right direction of how to start. Good read(listen).

    Supplement to E-Myth
A good supplement to the flagship book but no substitute. Full of theory but no actionable material. Spoiler alert "Use systems"... but then no detail on how to create systems... kept waiting for it but the detail wasn't there.

Great information, but speed is way too fast
Too fast. I Had to slow down too much and replay to take notes. It is very detailed for a financial statement analysis which is very helpful. I just wish the speed was slowed down for the processing of all this information in a short time period.
    Very good summation for myMBA
This book was a very good resource during my MBA financial class. I suggest to anyone going through their MBA.

Understanding the ecommerce business structure is just part of the first step in creating your eCommerce MasterPlan. The other two steps are: the foundations of your ecommerce business (the website, the money, and the products) and the marketing plan (how to create it, launch it, and improve it). These three steps, outlined in this book, are already being used by businesses to accelerate their growth and avoid failure.
The author, Chloe Thomas, has been running the marketing and websites of ecommerce businesses since 2004. Initially working in-house, she now acts as a coach, educator, and speaker.
eCommerce MasterPlan is built on Chloe's years of experience across many ecommerce sectors and different types of businesses. How to ecommerce guide for starters
This book is an easy to follow and to apply guide for beginners in ecommerce
    useless
I am thinking about starting my own website myself so this book seemed ideal from the description. This book contains vague sweeping comments that are no help what so ever. for example, "building a website will takes at least 3 months and cost you thousands of pounds"- dont think so! From the description it looked like a book that would help me but it contains no practical advice at all for me.
    Interesting Book!
This book contains a lot of usefull information for successful ecommerce strategies. The voice of the narrator is also very good! Thank you Chloe & Matt for organising this material. Worku
    Fantastic Book and programme.
After reading many books mostly written for the American market this was a breath of fresh air. Very informative, practical and easy to understand. I rate this amongst the top books on the subject and would advise those starting up an online business to read this book and the others in the series first. I would have saved myself a lot of time, money and misery had I found this book in the first place. Being British I found it more suitable for me but that is not to say that other markets would not find it as valuable as the internet is universal so whatever your country I would advise you to purchase this book to give yourself a head start. 10 out of 10!

    Title: Pedigree
Subtitle: How Elite Students Get Elite Jobs
    Author: Lauren A. Rivera
    Narrator: Dina Pearlman
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 12 hrs and 15 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-09-15
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 56 votes
    Genres: Business, Commerce & Economy
    Publisher's Summary:
Americans are taught to believe that upward mobility is possible for anyone who is willing to work hard, regardless of their social status. Yet it is often those from affluent backgrounds who land the best jobs. Pedigree takes listeners behind the closed doors of top-tier investment banks, consulting firms, and law firms to reveal the truth about who really gets hired for the nation's highest-paying entry-level jobs, who doesn't, and why.
Drawing on scores of in-depth interviews as well as firsthand observation of hiring practices at some of America's most prestigious firms, Lauren Rivera shows how, at every step of the hiring process, the ways that employers define and evaluate merit are strongly skewed to favor job applicants from economically privileged backgrounds. She reveals how decision makers draw from ideas about talent - what it is, what best signals it, and who does (and does not) have it - that are deeply rooted in social class. Displaying the "right stuff" that elite employers are looking for entails considerable amounts of economic, social, and cultural resources on the part of the applicants and their parents.
Challenging our most cherished beliefs about college as a great equalizer and the job market as a level playing field, Pedigree exposes the class biases built into American notions about the best and the brightest, and shows how social status plays a significant role in determining who reaches the top of the economic ladder.

    Title: Too Much Magic
Subtitle: Wishful Thinking, Technology, and the Fate of the Nation
    Author: James Howard Kunstler
    Narrator: Eric Martin
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 12 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-04-15
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 32 votes
    Genres: Business, Commerce & Economy
    Publisher's Summary:
James Howard Kunstler's critically acclaimed and best-selling The Long Emergency, originally published in 2005, quickly became a grassroots hit, going into nine printings in hardcover. Kunstler's shocking vision of our post-oil future caught the attention of environmentalists and business leaders alike, and stimulated widespread discussion about our dependence on fossil fuels and our dysfunctional financial and government institutions. Kunstler has since been profiled in the New Yorker and invited to speak at TED. In Too Much Magic, Kunstler evaluates what has changed in the last seven years and shows us that, in a post-financial-crisis world, his ideas are more relevant than ever.
"Too Much Magic" is what Kunstler sees in the bright visions of a future world dreamed up by optimistic souls who believe technology will solve all our problems. Their visions remind him of the flying cars and robot maids that were the dominant images of the future in the 1950s. Kunstler's image of the future is much more sober.
With vision, clarity of thought, and a pragmatic worldview, Kunstler argues that the time for magical thinking and hoping for miracles is over, and the time to begin preparing for the long emergency has begun.

    Old fashion journalism
I believe that what this book says is true, but how does the song go? "I'd love to change the world, but I don't know what to do... so I leave it up to you." He does not tell you what to do about it, not at all. He lays blame to all of the people and decisions he feels are responsible for this. Basically, our society is enjoying itself, with no thought for the future. As for myself, if I was going to heed what he says, I would plan on solar cells for my house, wood heat for the winter, steam engine technology for electricity run off of the wood heat. If you haven't already, I would start by getting out of the city, go to an agricultural town where food is plenty, and have a hand pump well available. You can hook a wind mill up to it later. In short, this is a prequel to any prepper book that you might read on the market. Actually, speaking of markets, you might think about shorting the markets that will fail when petroleum runs out. Invest in the ones that will make a big one the panic sets in. All in all, it is a thought-provoking book.
The End Is Coming, No Really, It Is
Being an environmental science school teacher and a hobby economist, I easily followed along. Mr. Kuntsler is logical, not fanatical. Some of his premises are arguable, but not insane. Even if I don't agree with everything he proposes, his most weighty point hangs on me: How is it that Americans are intoxicated with the elixir of technology? And why are dissonant voices ridiculed? For myself, I'd rather we all at least hedge against knowable, potentially disastrous outcomes. I'm not taking about an asteroid collision. But the more probables like climate alterations, populations crashing, and core resource shortages, especially for peoples living in megacities! Heck, I have a safety net for my family today, but what about my children tomorrow, or my grandchildren further out? Our government certainly isn't preparing for our childrens' future. So, who is? Or who will?
    Excellent
A truly different view of the world.
