An Excellent Testimony to Female Warriors in WW 2!!!!!
This book is the Second Volumn by this author that recounts the history of women who served in combat during World War Two (WW II). This is a not well known aspect of WW II history of great interest to me and a subject that needs to be known by many American readers! Human history provides many accunts of women who activly padrticipated in warfare. Western Culture however, dominated by the Christian Dogma of otiginal sin and hiererarical notions of a male dominate society has traditionally cast women in the role of the weaker sex and nurturer, with a life focused on child birthing and rearing, maintenance of the home and religious obligation This book chronicles the stories of four women women; Noor Inayat Khan, Krystyna Starbek, Virginia Hall, and Pearl Witherington, all who actively fought in a combatants' role during WW 2. Each put their lives on the line for their countries! The author's descriptions of their bravery, daring, and sacrifices rival those of any male! Their stories are those of heros that deserve to be known abd apprecuated by all!!!
Great Stories of the Brave Women of WWII
Another great book by Cyrus J. Zachary. In Vol 2 Mr. Zachary continues to bring to life the stories of the heroic women of WWII. I like that he is concise with his story telling giving you background information on the women briefly like giving you a synopsis of how they grew and then spending the remainder of their story telling you about their brave actions. If it wasnât for these brave women many of our downed fliers would not have lived and that includes my own father who was shot down over Germany. He was finally captured and spent the remainder as a POW.
