The critical years of the Pacific War (44-45)
Instareadâs Summary, Analysis & Review of James D. Hornfischerâs The Fleet at Flood Tide is an overview of the history of Americaâs war in the Pacific during the critical period 1944-45, with an emphasis on the actions of Admiral Raymond Spruance, the hero of the Battle of Midway, when the tide was turned against the Japanese fleet.
This brief summary can be read in less than 15 minutes. It covers the main points of the book, and lists the principal characters and their roles in the conflict. It also analyzes the general tone of the book, pointing out that itâs primarily of interest to history buffs who want details about combat during the period, rather than a historical analysis.
For a time- and money-saving method to select books worth buying, these summaries are a great rexource.
I received a free copy of this book.
Good summation, nice analysis and takes on a good novel
Admiral Raymond Spruance...someone I've not heard nor read about before but was definitely instrumental in the war in the Pacific during WW2. I've never been the largest history buff but I'm learning to enjoy reading about the details that might be glossed over in the "normal" history books. The thing is, time is not something I have a surplus of so things such as this (summations and analysis) have helped me learn the gist of a number of novels so far.
The thing that has remained consistent for me concerning my experience with Instaread "books" is the fact it contains the key points, very good analysis and the important details condensed. Not to mention, they are a LOT cheaper than their full counterparts.
If you are short on time, money or both, I'd recommend checking these out.
Excellent summary! Highly recommend!
I really enjoyed this Instaread. It is a summary of James D. Hornfischer's book based on the battles that led to the American Victory in World War ll. I am not a history buff, so I knew very little on this topic to start; however, I really enjoy learning about history. The author of the summary does mention that the full text is more geared towards someone who already has a general knowledge of WWll, but I still enjoyed it.
This summary lists the main points of the full text, then elaborates on them as the summary goes on. I will admit, I am embarrassed at my lack of knowledge on American History, but I learned a lot. A lot of facts, mainly. Like during the end of the war, very few cars were produced by manufacturers. Instead, car manufacturers were producing weaponry and vehicles to aid the war effort. I also learned about some notable military men and their contributions to the war.
