    Release date: 10-31-06

    Critic Reviews:
"Mixing fact and fiction effectively, MacKinnon...shows great insight into the inner workings of U.S. intelligence. His clipped prose style, descriptive discipline, and tone-perfect dialogue elevate this thriller above the pack." (Publishers Weekly)
"[A] haunting, disturbingly realistic portrait of the failings, organizational and personal, that opened up the skies for 9/11....[A] rising sense of sorrowful frustration...pays off in a gut punch of an ending." (Booklist)

Dick Hill was the only good thing
What disappointed you about Morning Spy Evening Spy?
Let's face it, Dick Hill is perhaps the best narrator there is. However, even he couldn't save this travesty. The story line was a little too generic, relying largely on the notoriety of UBL to bring in an interest, as opposed to actual character and plot development. It's a milquetoast variety of the Vince Flynn fanfare.
Additionally, unless you're a fan of "G-d d*mn" and "J.C." used as expletives, I would recommend you not get this book. The argument of character believability doesn't fly, there's simply entirely too much profanity, to the point that it's no longer realistic, and simply annoying. A talented writer can tell a believable and realistic story without profanity in nearly every sentence a character says. These aren't street level criminals, the characters are C.I.A. professionals.
...but any damn fool can cuss.
Has Morning Spy Evening Spy turned you off from other books in this genre?
    No
What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Dick Hill is, in my opinion, the most talented narrator today. I was unfamiliar with this author, and was willing to try him out simply because I knew the performance would at least be enjoyable.

    Great Read
This is probably my least favorite of Mike Murray's Navy SEALs series, only because there's a lot of supporting characters, and not enough of Getts and Peach for my taste. A lot of time was spent on the 'bad guy' and the Blacklight team, who I found myself not as interested in. The book is still great entertainment though. Great characters, defeating stereotypes at every turn.
Still, all of Mike Murray's books are entertaining and some of my favorites, even though they're lamentably short. There's a refreshing lack of political motivation and long-winded speeches or cheesy romantic sub-plots.
Like all of his books though, he needs a much better proofreader to help with some of the character mix-ups.
Good read. I hope Mike Murray continues with the ...
Good read. I hope Mike Murray continues with the Navy Seal series.
    Awsome Book!
I read this book for fun, just because the picture on the front. As you can imagine, I was blown away by the great detail and accuracy of the book. The men using weapons that are still in testing was a great move on Murrays part. If you like any books that start in a web and slowly begin to fit together until you know the full story, Blacklight is for you!
    Action from start to finish
I'm impressed w/ the author's use of description. I've never been in the military and am not familiar with the weapons, training and slang used in most action books. I appreciate Mr. Murray's ability to explain what is going on and who is doing what for a reader, like me, with limited knowledge.
Good book, good use of women on the team and was glad to see Getts and Peach back in action.
The villian was so thoroughly evil that I was surprised when the team did not make sure he was dead prior to exiting the castle.
Perhaps in another book, we'll see Getts learn the true identity of the Rabbi.
    murray's Blacklight
If you have ever read Marcenkos high on myself, I'm just marvelous stories, this series is a breath of fresh air. With a genuine talent for writting dialog, Murray tells a great story where we actually like the characters with the flow not slowing as gun barrels cool. Action sequences add to the readers enjoyment, but the story is what keeps the book in your hands.

    Sehr interessant

    Just love the style
I enjoyed this book almost from the first few paragraphs and it delighted me as it went on to a very interesting plot. The description of the war time rationing and the way of life was something I knew about from my grandmother but the story helped me understand how the people coped with everyday life. I fell in love with the characters, reveled in the thrill of being a spy. enjoyed the travelling with the agents. Well done well researched.
    A
Not that I am an expert on WWII and MI5 but I found this book and thoroughly enjoyable.
    Wonderful beginning but disappointing development
Would you try another book from Charlotte Bingham and/or Kim Hicks?
    Probably not.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Kim Hicks has a wonderful voice but she overdoes the cadences, the emphases at the end of each sentence. Her narration doesn't flow.
Could you see The House of Flowers being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
With a good screen writer to improve on the novel, yes.
    Any additional comments?
The novel promises to be interesting at first: a woman's view of British spies in 1940 and 1941. At first, the move back and forth from the spy story to the intimate lives of the characters is rather interesting. But Bingham loses control of the plot and characters, and it just sort of wanders off around the third chapter. I was disappointed.
