    Worst narrator!
What did you like best about Living with the Dead? What did you like least?
The story was great, probably much better if you read the book instead of listening
The worst part was the narrator...everyone sounded like a teenage girl so at times it got confusing as to who was talking and the men's voices? They didn't sound male I'm not sure what they sounded like but either way they were not good
How could the performance have been better?
    Different narrator
    Any additional comments?
Do the author of the books actually listen to the audible versions before they are released? I'm not sure how it works but after finally getting used to the narrator of the last few books (who was ok) she then switched to this person. Like other reviewers said everyone sounds like a 16 year old valley girl...hope sometimes has a New Jersey accent the voices are hard to distinguish from each other even the males the only reason I know who was who was because it said "hope" or "Robyn" before each chapter.,.and the worst most annoying part of it was calling Jamie Vegas "hamie" where does that even come from? This is why I question if the author actually listens to the books ...I love this series and will buy the next book on audible because I dnt have time to read it. I see its the same narrator so hopefully these problems will b fixed and I can enjoy the story more because i know its about the pack and jamie will be in it....but I would recommend if u have the time read the book you will prob like it better
Great Story brought down by terrible naration
I have been burning through this series enjoy each one more then the last, until now. This isn't the fault of the author, but the terrible narrator. This woman tried so hard to make male voices that all she did was destroy the narration, taking you out of the story. Her male voices sounded either drunk, mentally challenged, or like they smoked 4 packs of cigarettes every day. Add on to that the fact that she repeatedly miss-pronounced the name of Jamie Vegas. I have no idea how she got "Hamie" from Jamie, but she did. As I look forward to the rest of the series I am only filled with trepidation noticing that she is the narrator for the next few books also. I just wish a series could keep one narrator for the entire series.
As for the story. It was another great installment in this series with all the twists and turns that Kelley Armstrong is so great at creating. I love how she is able to give her characters depth and a well roundness that many authors lack. I feel like I know these characters as people.

    Solid Series With 1 Exception
    Any additional comments?
Mr. DuBrul could improve this and future writing by implying more of the adult romantic actions of the characters rather than going into detail about it. The inclusion of these graphic sexual encounters will limit my circle of friends to whom I will recommend it.
    wonderful
loved it,and loved the mercer character. wide variety of emotions and mystery at the same time. Do it again!
    As dependable as Cussler, except....
I enjoy the Phillip Mercer books in general, the relationship between Mercer and Harry White especially but in this novel there was an Italian character that the narrator managed to make into Count Dracula. Maybe it was just me but it was difficult to get past on this listen.
    pretty good
one of the better mercer novels. I liked the africa setting best since it was outside the us.
    OH BOY WHERE TO START
Generally OK but the mine scenes are incredibly hard to follow and the reason might be they are this way on purpose. I'm no mine expert but good heavens this guy is lucky. Of course he's also a great mercenary fighter type too. I am an expert in that area and you can not be an expert shot, tactician, expert martial artist, world class geologist, etc. all at the same time before the age of 40 and in top shape. Maybe I should read other types. Pretty good reading, accents and voices.

But when German officials also refuse the landing, and other European countries follow suit, Holland begins to suspect that he's in much more trouble than anyone's letting on. In fact, his sick passenger is carrying a deadly virus accidentally released from a Bavarian laboratory, and it is feared that everyone on board is now infected. At the same time, someone with access to the CIA's computers wants to shoot the plane out of the sky, and there is a United States ambassador on board with powerful terrorist enemies who want to see him dead.
While the panic on the ground spreads from the White House Situation Room to a small airport in the Ukrainian Republic, Captain Holland has only one concern: Where and when can he land?
    Members Reviews:
A Thrill Ride that Starts with the First Sentence!
STORY (suspense) - This is my second book by this author, and I just finished putting several more in my wish list. It's a great thriller about a passenger plane carrying a disease potentially capable of killing millions. No country wants the plane to land on their soil, and there are those who wish to see it shot down. Then there is Captain Holland, who is determined to save his crew and his passengers. This book is about 5 1/2 hours long and I enjoyed every minute, especially the awesome ending!
PERFORMANCE - The author reads his own work and does a good job. He doesn't differentiate between characters and he reads the letter S kind of "mushy," but it doesn't detract from the great story!
OVERALL - No sex, no violence, and I don't recall any foul language. I'd highly recommend this book for guys and gals, probably late teens and older.
    An entertaining airborne thriller
Pandora's clock, though it doesn't come out of the gate at a sprint, eventually feels like a Crichton novel, providing a few hours of fairly gripping action and drama. I will definitely recommend this to fans of Omega Strain, Air Force One, or executive Decision.
    Nicely done and narrated.
What made the experience of listening to Pandora's Clock the most enjoyable?
Story was good and it was nice to have the author narrate.
What about John J. Nances performance did you like?
The author knows the feel required better than any actor could.
    Any additional comments?
I really wish it had been unabridged.

    captivating
    great book
    Great story, beautifully told
David Hosp has now written three books (I believe) featuring lawyer Scott Finn, his investigator Tom Koslowski and his assistant lawyer Lissa Krantz. I have loved all three and am looking forward to the next. He gives a spectacular view of Boston, from its gritty side to the Back Bay. He writes terrific dialogue and places his characters in sometimes agonizing danger. Even though you know the good guys will eventually win, the methods he uses to twist and turn you through the plot are manifold and believable. The narrators have been top-notch. Like all great writers of historical fiction, he will leave you asking, "Did that really happen?" A delightful read from open to close.
    phoning it in
I have really enjoyed all of David Hosp's other books. This one is terrible by comparison. Boring, cheesy, predictable. Also, this narrator just does not hold a candle to George Guidall.

In Chapter Four of the Bible, Cain kills Abel. It is the world's most famous murder. But the Bible is silent about one key detail: the weapon Cain used to kill his brother. That weapon is still lost to history.
In 1932, Mitchell Siegel was killed by three gunshots to his chest. While mourning, his son dreamed of a bulletproof man and created the world's greatest hero: Superman. And like Cain's murder weapon, the gun used in this unsolved murder has never been found.
    Until now.
Today in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Cal Harper comes face-to-face with his family's greatest secret: his long-lost father, who's been shot with a gun that traces back to Mitchell Siegel's 1932 murder. But before Cal can ask a single question, he and his father are attacked by a ruthless killer tattooed with the anicent markings of Cain. And so begins the chase for the world's first murder weapon.
What does Cain, history's greatest villain, have to do with Superman, the world's greatest hero? And what do two murders, committed thousands of years apart, have in common? This is the mystery at the heart of Brad Meltzer's riveting and utterly intriguing new thriller.

    Don't Bother.
Feeble. Don't waste a credit. I have been an Audible customer for very long time and have felt compelled to write only one other review. This book compels me to offer another. The character development is very thin and plot is convoluted. I usually enjoy Meltzer, but this book strikes me as the product of an author under contract for a book - any kind of book, and not necessarily a good book. I could not bring myself to finish it.
Really Bad for Brad - Brick remains brilliant
You know, I think this is only my third review ever after 7 years as an Audible Member. But I just couldn't let this one go without comment.
Brad Metzler's "Book of Lies" is to the "Book of Fate" what Dan Brown's "Deception Point" is to "The DaVinci Code".
Not only does the listener have to stumble along with poor Scott as he reads through this morass, he has to keep stumbling hoping there is a point to this book somewhere.
As a side note to Mr. Metzler, crab-apple trees do not bear fruit in winter in Cleveland.....I know this for a fact as I lived there most of my life....I know it is a small point but man it stuck in my craw.
    EXCELLENT!!!
Cain and Able, the Bible, and Superman. How can it go wrong? I had to read this to see how Meltzer tied it all together, and he did a great job. This one is worth the investment. Be sure to check out Meltzer's website, too. Additional back-story info as well as current events on Superman and Jerry Siegel.
    yawn
I usually enjoy readings by Scott Brick, but this book left me yawning--poorly written with a ridiculous plot. My advice: skip this one.
    Book Of Crap!
The one star is for Scott Brick. The 4 'non' stars are for; the 'mystery' villain who is no mystery, the everybody-left-for-dead/nobody actually dying multiple recurrances, the lame and thin characters, and the boring and ridiculous 'who cares' plot with a cheesy weak ending ('that's it?!). DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME with this 'Da Vinci Code jr.' If you like Mr. Brick, and want something you can sink your teeth into, check out 'The Company' by Robert Littel.

This light summer read gave me a headache
This is Swiss family Robinson meets unbelievably stupid high powered bad people. It wrecked my "willing suspension of disbelief" from chapter 3, and there were 115 or so chapters.
If you recall Swiss Family Robinson, it portrayed adventure on the high seas and described survival in the wild in naiive terms that appeal to young boys. It is a classic, but it is a children's book from another time and we excuse it for its flaws.
SAIL is written for adults who are savvy to the ways of the world, and it disappoints them. It lacks understanding of processes within biology, physics, psychology, sociology and social systems. From the outset, there are questionable characters who have way too much money and way too much education to behave as they do. I lost interest in any motivation they might have because they are just way out of their own leagues to be believable.
The events in the book give me a headache. Details of sailing, ocean currents, shark behavior, hypothermia, floatation devices, boxes floating on the sea, Coast Guard searches, all of these made me wince. The characters should have been dead within 10 minutes of their big "disaster". The snake scene with the constrictor is laughable, as the author obviously never watched a snake take down prey. That scene still irks me.
The bad guys end up being inconceivably naiive, for an attorney and a CIA man. The good guys are way too lucky for the events that transpire. The only thing that keeps any of them alive is the author who employs Deus ex Machina not on purpose, but simply through ignorance that he killed them already.
At some point, I came to the conclusion that nobody helped this author at all with his story. He had no editorial input, no Devil's Advocate, no foil. When I read the cover summary of the book, I burst out laughing; the summary is written with the wrong details--whoever wrote it didn't even read the book! What a shame that Patterson had his name on the cover.
    Sail on
I don't write many reviews, but after throwing out the last three downloaded books, I thought this one should be rated. This book held my interest and I listened to the whole thing. You must suspend your disbelief in some parts, but it is fiction and literary license comes into play. I think this book is a little jewel and is the reason I continue on at audible.com. Finding one that holds your interest and makes you want to turn off the tv and listen to it is too rare. Worth the credit.
Nice reading, but not the best one from JamesP
It's my 2nd audiobook from James Patterson and I must admit, I've read a number of his regular paper books, so you can call me his fan.

When a female member of the team is savaged, Anna is convinced she is being stalked, and what was once a beautiful, idyllic refuge becomes a place of unnatural occurrences and danger beyond the ordinary. Alone on an island without electricity or running water, with temperatures hovering around zero both day and night, Anna fights not only for the wolves but for her own survival as well.

    Perhaps better than reading it
With mysteries, and mysteries in a series with such tried and true (still enjoyable but nevertheless) formulas, I often find myself skimming. This is the first Nevada Barr book I've downloaded on Audible, and I'm tempted to go back to the beginning and work my way through again, this time in audio form.
The narrator does a great job pacing and creating the moods that I often rushed through --without even realising or meaning to. When I think back on all the Pigeon mysteries, I can't really remember whodunit, but I remember the scenery and feeling of the parks. With this book and narrator, I feel everything is painted more fully in my mind and the feeling of actions is more enduring, and I was swallowed up by the story and imagery not just the compelling descriptions and love of the scenery, which previously were sufficient reason enough to grab each new book of the series.
The narrator's voice is pretty much exactly how I hear Anna's voice and speech patterns in my head, so that's always nice. ;)
    fair to middling ...
Barbara Rosenblatt is superb as always. I will listen to anything she reads!! I love Anna and all the wonderful settings of the Anna Pigeon books. For me this book lacked any personnel connections for Anna and thus much of the humor and irony present in many of the earlier books in the series is missing. The book seemed dark, a bit too gruesome and vulgar and somewhat depressing. All those negatives aside, I still love Anna and the wonderful park settings of these books.
A Great Selection for Summer's Heat
A major character of each Anna Pigeon story is the park in which it is set, so the physical descriptions are vital to the plot. Winter Study finds Anna returning to Isle Royal (abbreviated by the park service as ISRO and pronounced "Is Row"), so we have the park of A Superior Death, but in the depths of winter.
I have read or listened to all of the Anna Pigeons and this one rates as one of my favorites. Barbara Rosenblatt does her usual excellent job with the reading.
My only regret is that now I have to wait a year for another new Anna.
    Anna Pigeon still rocks
I DO love Nevada Barr and her park ranger stories. This is one of the later books, as Anna is well into her middle age, and the author reminds us often of Anna's growing limitations. Anna is as real as any of us for her natural aging. This story is somewhat typical, and perhaps not Ms. Barr's best, but I highly recommend it just the same. As with all her books, the author exposes a part of our wilderness that most of us will never see.

Who, then, are the Knights Templar, a shadowy group exacting summary public justice on their enemies? Great Entry in a Great Series
What I love about Reginald Hill's Dalziel books is that they flout the usual conventions of British police procedurals. Usually, it's the brilliant/world weary DCI and the young/bumbling/earnest partner. In this series, though, it's the partner, Pascoe, who's thoughtful and refined and the mentor, Dalziel, who's coarse, two-fisted and (seemingly) lazy.
But THE DEATH OF DALZIEL takes this series to a new level. Here, Pascoe gets to be center stage as his partner lays dying. But Dalziel stills looms large (both physically and spiritually). Though Dalziel remains comatose, we are invited into his inner world, and we find it's a much more complex place than we imagined.
As always, Shaun Dooley's narration is impeccable; this book is less active than others in the series, yet Dooley manages to keep the pace moving.
If you haven't had the Dalziel experience, this is a fine place to start.
    Another fan pleaser
If you are a fan of this series then this is a story you will enjoy. The narration is excellent as usual and the characters contain all their usual 'charm'. The plot is fast moving although it may not contain as many strings as is usual. The terrorism topic is dealt with in both a human and sensible way. As a new reader of this series it would not be a bad place to start
    superb
The narration of this audiobook is wonderful. Shaun Dooley has the local accent down perfectly and reads with great energy and an excellent sense of pacing. Highly recommended.
Good Story, but a Tough Listen at Times
This is a great story and well written. All previous reviews are accurate in that there are a lot of good dimensions to this book and R Hill brings them together nicely.
However, I am surprised by all the stellar ratings from US listeners.
This book is FILLED with Brit slang and the narrator at times uses such a heavey gutteral accent that I had a tough time figuring out what he was saying - at times had no idea what a lot of the slang even meant.
Anyway, it's a good story and recommended, but if you think the strong brit accent and brit slang will bother you, be advised.
The story is 5-star, but overall between a 3 and 4 rating for me because of the slang and narration, so I rounded up.
    One Change
Good story, great characters, excellent use of language. The one exception is an unreasonable attachment to a certain 4-letter word. Someone with his ability really needs to do something about that.

    WONDERFUL!!!!
Ann B. Ross has a very special gift. I wish that Audible would get all of her books. My favorite is Miss Julia Hits the Road, but every Miss Julia book is awesome. Please take the time to check out Miss Julia. You won't be sorry you did!!!!
    Miss Julia Strikes Back
I have never enjoyed a Miss Julia book more! The story is very funny, but the narrator elevated it to hysterical. I laughed out loud through the whole book.
    My favorite Miss Julia book!
I have enjoyed all the Miss Julia books, but this is one I have listened to several times. It didn't bother me a bit that the characters were out of their usual setting. The story is so hysterically funny and the reader just couldn't be better! The best yet!!
    A Fun Read!
The narrator did an excellent job and the story was well written. This Miss Julia episode did not disappoint!
A crazy trip to Florida with Miss Julia
As Miss Julia Strikes Back by Ann B. Ross opens, Miss Julia discovers that her wedding ring and engagement ring are missing. Upon talking to her friend in the police, she learns that the theft is likely the work of a criminal gang that has been working several states. Determined not to leave this matter to the police, Miss Julia drives with Little Lloyd, now promoted to Lloyd, three days to Florida, where the gang reportedly hangs out, to hire Frank Tuttle, a private investigator whom her friend uses. Upon arriving in Palm Beach, Miss Julia finds Mr. Tuttle, but he is in a bar, dead drunk at noon. When he faints, the pair have to drag him out of the bar and end up calling, Etta Mae Wiggins, a nurse friend of Lloyd's mother to fly down to Florida to help them.
So begins the latest adventure of Miss Julia in another wild caper that made me laugh really hard. I had to suspend some of my disbelief to accept that Miss Julia would have put up with Tuttle upon seeing his drunken state instead of finding another detective. But once I did that, I really enjoyed this book. One of the funniest scenes involved Miss Julia's throwing away Mr. Tuttle's clothes while he is drunk and making him ride to the airport with her wearing nothing but a blanket.
The book had a surreal moment when Etta Mae admires the fancy clothes of those going to an expensive party and wonders if Donald Trump is there. "Who's he?" asks Lloyd. "Just someone who happens to live here. Part time," says Miss Julia.
I really enjoy the voice of Miss Julia. Her interpretations of things become amusing, as we the readers recognize the reality that Miss Julia does not. She also has her own quips that she does not recognize as clever but which come across so. I also had to smile once when Miss Julia once referred to "she or he" instead of "he or she." As a feminist, I prefer to alternate the order instead of limiting myself to saying "he or she" all the time.

    Stay Away
Its a fast read, but that's the only positive I can say about this book. I have read all of Patterson's books and have liked them all -- some more than others, but this one is terrible. Its creepy, the characters aren't likable and it doesn't make sense. I'm surprised Patterson put his name on this one.
    Disappointed!
I always look forward to reading a James Patterson book, but I think that the books that he writes all by himself are the best, and I have read or listened to all of his books. This one was a definite disappointment. Frankly, I couldn't wait for it to end. The main character is so unlikeable that you really don't care what happens to her. There wasn't much of a story, either. This is 6 hours of dribble that you should avoid. I'm giving it one star, but it really doesn't deserve that.
Leave it alone! Wait for the next!
I have been hungry for a new James Patterson as Audible does not permit most of his new titles to be sold to customers living in Japan. I bought this one as fast as my fingers could hit the keys. Should have read the reviews! It is depressing and dark! Why did one of my favorite authors permit his name to be put on this? Leave it alone! Not even worthy of one star. Why are we not permitted to give negative ratings?
You've Been Warned (not to buy it)
Not a typical James Patterson. Disappointing and depressing.
    WASTED TIME
At the beginning of this section - you asked for a star rating of this book. You do not have what I would like to submit - which is a -Star. I must say that this is the most disappointing book I have ever had. James Patterson is one of mine and my husbands favorite authors. We could absolutely not see any of his work in this book. Clearly he just put his name on the cover to help this author sell his very poor book. I will not be reading any more of this authors - and I will thoroughly investigate any more of Patterson's. Also, the reader was not the best of choices either. It was a very big struggle to get through this book. When you are accustomed to an author - you assume that anything with his name on it is good quality. He usually keeps readers on their toes as you go through the book - this time - it was just so unbelievable and dull. Wish I had read reviews before purchasing. Learned my lesson I guess. Readers beware - belongs in fantasy way out there section.
