Samantha, Samantha, Samantha........
Poor Will. His girlfriend is in the hospital, and he just wants to be left alone to concentrate on her. However, Will's therapist, John, has given his name to Campbell Haddoc (who had also been one of John's clients).
Haddoc has recently been released from prison for murdering his wife, and he is convinced her ghost is trying to kill him. John knows firsthand about Will's ability to communicate with ghosts so he believes Will can help Haddoc.
However, Will is not anxious to help Haddoc. After all, Haddoc had admitted the brutal attack and even led authorities to the grave where he had buried his wife, Samantha. But who else is there to help him? And besides - Will is one of the good guys. He knows John would not have given his phone number to Haddoc if this were not a dire situation.
But who says Haddoc really knows this ghost is Samantha? Or even the reason the ghost is after him? Will, don't close the case file until Samantha (?) is resting in peace.
Ok... light read, some suspense and mystery.
A fair light read. The story was rather short, didn't have much in the way of development, and there was a negative tone all throughout. If it's going to be that short, I'd rather it were a bit more light hearted. Interesting premise, though. I guess if I were to read all the books in the series it would be more well rounded out, but it didn't capture my interest enough to get the other books. Not if I have to pay for them.
Samantha leaves me wanting the next story in the series.
Will is a U.S. Marshal with a twist... he happens to have psychic visions. This story was about Will having to deal with a ghost and it goes a little bit more into his past. He's on a job to help a man with a spirit that's been haunting him and well, I won't spoil anything for you. I'm also intrigued about his Samantha, as there wasn't all that much gone into about his past with her... just enough for me to need to know more. There are three more in the series. "Island Ghosts" (the first), "The Bridge" and "Nighteyes". Infact, the David Bain states in the notes from the author that he wants feedback from the fans. He wants to write two novels having to do with Will Castleton, but only if he hears that readers want them. So leave those reviews and let him know how you feel. :)
