Best of the series so far!

I really can't believe how emotionally invested I am in this series. For me the books started out as fluffy, cute, light reads. In the last few books, the girls are growing up and learning that while it may be fun and have it's perks, it's not at all easy being a Gallagher Girl. I was definitely shocked by the direction this book went. I found myself almost depressed for Cammie throughout most of the first half. There were lots of twists and interesting developments that have me craving the next book already. I really find myself impressed by the growth we've seen in Cammie over the course of the last two books. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Gallagher Girls, Book 5

I've listened to all but the last of this series (and have read the first 4 pre-listening), and man, the plot is really starting to get good! In book one, the story is mostly teenage romance with a little action thrown in. As Cam as aged, though, the romance has taken more of a backseat to the action and mystery, which is a change of pace I am enjoying.

Raudman's performance of this book was a little subpar in my opinion. I noticed some differences in the voices of reoccurring characters.

Overall, though, I love this series and I love Raudman's performance of them! After a hard college semester, I often find myself coming back to the books of my youth for some simple, fun entertainment.

Best of the Series so far!

This fifth installment in the Gallagher Girls series is a little bit darker and a little bit more serious than the earlier books but still has the wit and humor that makes the series so addicting. Cammie wakes up in the Alps a different girl then she was months earlier and devoid of any memory of how she got there. With the help of her friends and family Cammie struggles to find the key to unlocking her memories and the secret her father's last mission. With leaks and traitors at every turn, Cammie has no idea who to trust. She doesn't even know if she is safe to be around.

This series gets better with every book and I cannot wait for the next one!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Virals. However, Seizure was not near as interesting. There was more find-the-pirate-treasure "adventure" with only bits and pieces of the core storyline--- the abilities of the Virals. This is another one of those series in which the author seems as interested in stretching out the series as she does in developing characters and moving the plot along. I have stopped and started this one several times while reading other novels in between. I want to finish it, but I'm struggling to stay interested.

Also, I am a high school English teacher, so I frequently preview YA books for my class. I was fascinated with Hunger Games and just as impressed with Divergent. I thought this series may be along those lines, but I can imagine readers losing interest halfway through this one.

Loved the book and the voice was perfect for the story. Can't wait to hear the rest.

I loved the history in it and the pirate aspect. This is probably why I liked it best out of all of the books.

I love this series and each character in the book takes on a life of its own thanks to the great narrator. I couldn't wait to start listening again when I was forced to turn it off. This book kept me enthralled from start to finish.

Boarding school fiction with a paranormal twist.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Name of the Star to be better than the print version?

Not sure, since I haven't read it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Name of the Star?

I really liked the fact that for the first half it read like a realistic fiction book about boarding school life in England.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Nicola Barber?

On the fence. Her accents were good but her actual normal narration was really distracting. She over enunciated which was annoying.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Jack is back."

Fun, quick YA listen. Nothing overwhelmingly good, but decent writing and performance and intriguing storyline.

The Reader is a robot

How could the performance have been better?

The reader sounded like Eliza Dolittle. "The rain in Spain..." I found it hard to get into the story because it was like listening to a voice coach. All the T's and S's are so perfectly pronounced and enunciated, you can't for a second believe that it's a real person talking. Especially not a teenager.

Maybe is this woman narrated textbooks? But it just didn't fit with the story. I tried to get through it 3 different times before giving up.

You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Maureen Johnson is cool...I'll just have to read this book in paperback...I can't get through the audio.

Maureen is one of my favorites. Both in books and twitter form. I can't wait for the last book to come out.

Paranormal Ripper-Related YA

It's hard to rate this novel, because it does many things.

For one, it's a YA fish-out-of-water tale about a small-town Louisiana girl who suddenly finds herself in a boarding school in London. As a glimpse of London life, popular culture, and history through an American lens, it's a very successful and often laugh-out-loud funny tale.

The novel is also a Jack-the-Ripper thriller about a copycat murderer who uses the original Ripper slayings as inspiration for "tribute" killings, with some clever and chilling contemporary updates to the 1888 story.

Outstanding as usual!

I have quite literally fallen in love with Sara Shepard's books. I admit I was skeptical if this series would be as good as The Pretty Little Liar series, and after reading the first book in the series I still was unsure. However, this book (2nd in the series) has proven to me that this series is going to be not only very close to as good as the PLL series but just as mysterious as well. I could go on and on about what a great book/author/series this is, but if you've ever read a book by this author then you already know all that. If you haven't then start with the first book in this series or the PLL series. The best thing about the audio book itself is the person reading the book, One of the best narrator's I have ever heard.

Long

This seemed to go on forever and not really end anywhere. Lots of annoying finishes that didn't really resolve anything. Some intriguing moments but all let down in the final conclusion.

Still exciting

I'm worried that book three may get old after drama keeps unfolding and keeping me on the edge of my seat. But Never Have I Ever was certainly engaging.

loved this book. So far this series is very good...definitely a page turner. this is the first time I have listened to a audio book and I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was not to have to sit up flipping pages. just sit back and listen. loved that I could but a limit on when I wanted to stop...like end of chapter or within a certain amount of minutes...10, 30 or 1 hour etc. next up, book #3!!

Confused but good

I was a little confused because it really didn't tell us who it was all it said that Thayer might be the killer but they didn't approve it which confused me but after all that it was good

Would you listen to Angel again? Why?

I never listen to a book more then once. Some say that you "miss" things when you read but I don't miss a thing. Maybe way in the future I might read something when I can't remember if I read it, but that's rare.

If youve listened to books by James Patterson before, how does this one compare?

It's about the same as the others, kids in trouble, kids get out of trouble, kids set up for next book. In this series he kind of shoves the "greenie weenie" message a little hard.

No, not really, I looked foreword to the times when I could listen but I wasn't compulsive about it.

Excellent listen - great story line

What did you love best about Angel?

The characters and the comic relief even during intense moments. Fun and Keeps your attention.

Obnoxious music and sound effects

The story wasn't very good, but what really ruined this audio book was the constant loud and terrible music playing and the even worse sound effects. I guess they realized the story had no meat and tried to spruce it up, but that only made it worse.

The voice acting was very good though.

this story was better than Fang. it fleshed out the new team of characters better and had more actual story. looking forward to the last book in the series.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I had no idea from promotional material that this was a teen girl novel.

Unfamiliar with the writer I decided to try the book rather than the series.

The writing is far to simple and the plot lines far too predictable for adult tastes.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Anything else, probably Heart of Darkness to shake off the simple sugar of this book.
