This book gives you more knowledge about pirates
This book gives you more knowledge about pirates and their journey. Much more than what you see in movies and cartoons, you will learn their true characteristics and physical features. You will discover what motivated them, how they moved forward and why they choose to be a pirate. Articles about them are quite interesting. Author clearly discussed details about prominent pirates of all times. Interesting book indeed.
Desperately needs a proofreader!
I would not normally review a free book, because you usually get what you pay for and should not complain. However, I was shocked to learn that this was a second edition, because it is shot through with spelling, grammar and factual errors on virtually every page. We find 17th century pirates who were born in 1942, people who did one thing in 1659, then did something else in 1622, and, my favorite, a Turkish pirate, who before he died in 1565, spent time extending his power in North America! Wikipedia tells us that North Africa is meant. There are some okay pirate stories here, if you can decipher the meaning through mangled sentences, but by a second edition, somebody should have read this through and made it intelligible! A free book which is slightly overpriced.
Strange...
This book is presented as an adult book but is written more for a children's audience. It talks down to the reader constantly. I had a difficult time getting through it because I didn't find it to be scholarly.
Bleh
If it's free and you have never read anything about pirates, I suppose this is ok. It's not like you will read this and say "that's 18 minutes of my life I will never get back." but that's about the best I can say about it. A very few very short anecdotes, reasonably well written.
