Lots of fun

My 3- and 5-year-old boys love this one. It's a cute story with a perfect twist ending, and Mike Ferreri's voice work is great. It did require a visit to the local ice cream shop to enlighten the kids what a "banana split with hot fudge sauce" is.

I loved this book as a child. I bought for my kids when they were children and now I am glad I could find it again for my granddaughter. I am sure she is going to love this classic tale for years to come.

Very nice coffee table books

Very nice coffee table books. One was a gift the other graces my own table. The shipper shops fast and the books were well cared for.

This was what I consider to be the first sub-standard audible kids track we've purchased. While the stories kept the kids attention well enough, the "M.C." preceding each story was nails-on-a-chalkboard.

Too boring

This is one of many fairy tales from this line that I bought for my grandchildren to listen to in the car. I am a child therapist and review children's books regularly; so I hope you will rely on me when I tell you this is a boring CD. The narrators drone with hardly ever any change in voice tone or volume. There are no sound effects. The stories use very dated language that is confusing to children. Don't waste your money by buying this.

Wonderful repetition and illustrations

I was unaware this was a classic tale retold by many and thought this copy was so cute I searched out other versions. All others paled in comparison to the both the easy repetative text and quirky illustrations, others were not nearly as well done IMO. DD asked for this one to be re-read so many times it became a companion to our home library.

The story is of an old husband and wife who plant a garden and tend it through the seasons. At harvest time one turnip has grown soooo large they can't pull it out of the ground. They utilize the help of all the farm animals one by one to heave and tug but still it won't come up. The wife thinks of a creative solution that does the trick and everyone enjoys the "fruit" of their labors in the end :).

This was one of our local library's picks and my daughter loved it so much we bought it for home

My kids really like this book!

Would you consider the audio edition of When I Was Little to be better than the print version?

I haven't seen the print version, but I would say no. The only reason I would prefer the book to this audio is because I don't think JLC narrates it very well (and yes, I realize she wrote it). I just think I could read this book to my children in a much more interesting way and with much more enthusiasm...

What aspect of Jamie Lee Curtiss performance would you have changed?

She's not a very enthusiastic reader, I find her voice very bland.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not me, but my children like it.

Any additional comments?

Although I have negative comments concerning the reading of the book, I do like the book and let me say that my children actually ask to hear this one so I did rate it above average and have since purchased additional books by JLC.
