    Defoe's Best, So Far
Having read only one other Defoe novel before, that being "Roxana", I must say this is my favorite so far, and it seems to be the same for the majority of other readers. It does feel like his books, though short, are a marathon of a read, since there are no chapters or other page breaks that can generally chop up the story, like into different periods of time or different scenes. I guess I am just used to the modern way a story is broken up.
To get to the tale itself, I really enjoyed it, and throughout the whole of it, you really do feel for the woman, who we generally don't know the name of. She goes thru a lot, failed romances, certainly many marriages, abandoned children, broken hearts and a few twists as well that I hadn't expected (thank goodness I never read a synopsis that gave away anything before completing it). I was a little frustrated with the ending, for I wish the author had given a little more description of some of her children that she left behind. For a couple of them, sons I believe, 'Moll' said how torn and saddened she felt about leaving those children behind. I thought it so heartless of her, for, being a mother myself, I could never contemplate abandoning mine, no matter the reason. Or if events parted us, I would never rest until I found him again, or discovered what happened to him. I don't know, I guess that her heartlessness in that regard lost a little bit of my sympathy in the end, since I thought by the end of the tale, we would discover what had happened to all of her children.
I do plan on reading "Robinson Crusoe" soon, but I have a feeling that "Moll Flanders" will remain my favorite of Defoe's
    Interesting read
I loved the visual starring Robin Wright, Morgan Freeman and Stockard Channing and trust me when I say the movie version which was based on the book, is about as far removed from the book as possible. That being said, I can only imagine when this was published in 1721, it caused more than a few eyebrows to raise or wigs to pop off readers heads. The author has created a character that repeatedly reinvented herself as her circumstances changed and indeed it's hard not to like her. I did find a few of the scenarios that occurred in the story of historic value, so there is something to be learned from this work. I can't say that I was totally taken with the book but I did find it interesting.
Classic banned novel is full of sex but without vulgar words
This novel, written in the 1700âs, is a classic. Although Moll is often naked in bed, no vulgar words are used to describe the goings on. This gives a sense of excitement to the reader who imagines the goings on. If modern authors so employed the imagination of readers in their books they might write books that will become classics too.

Length: 3 hrs and 2 mins
    Language: English

    Publisher: Phoenix Books
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 6 votes

    Publisher's Summary:
The story that carries these two themes takes the form of a compelling mystery, a romantic tangle of trails followed by three vivid sleuths: the opportunistic Guppy, the sinister Tulkinghorn and the benevolent Bucket. Only in the hands of Dickens does artfully constructed mystery so intensify and illuminate stringent social commentary. Bleak House is a consummate achievement in the career of a truly great novelist.

Of all Jane Austen's books, Pride and Prejudice has earned a special place in the hearts of the reading public as her best-loved and most intimately known novel. From its famous opening sentence, the story of Elizabeth and Darcy, told with a wit that its author feared might prove "rather too light and bright, and sparkling," delights its most familiar readers as thoroughly as it does those who encounter it for the first time.

    Disappointment
Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is one of the best loved and best known classics of English literature. This version is read by Juliet Stevenson, one of the best readers, whose voice is perfectly suited to Jane Austen's style. However the book has been so cut up, so clumsily and brutally abridged, and so much of Jane Austen's elegant writing has been removed that it is hardly possible even to follow the bare bones of the story. We jump from one scene to another with no explanation, making it almost impossible to understand what is happening and with no attempt to build the atmosphere or to flesh-out the characters. Jane Austen's very real, understandable and amusing characters have seem reduced to mere cardboard cut-outs, and this is hardly more than a bald synopsis of thestory. A desecration!
    Abridged!
Maybe my fault for not reading details but be aware this is a quite badly abridged version (but read excellently)

Gulliver's Travels is renowned as a playful and comic children's classic. The book itself, rather than the bowdlerized versions that have been derived from it, is a savage, rude and brilliant satire, timeless in its appeal and unerringly accurate. The images of Gulliver among the miniature Lilliputians and the giants of Brobdingnag, the crazy scientists, and the rational horses create a series of novel delights and challenging insights.

Three adventure tales and biting satire on human nature.
    JoeDanDonigi
Each adventure he encounters radically different problems. The Voyages of Lemuel Gulliver include first, people six inches tall, second a land of giants seventy or so feet tall, and people living in an island-cloud. The fourth voyage, were his men mutiny, foreshadowing the darker side of human nature that follows. They desert on an island where the Houyhnhnms rule. A land of noble talking horses, who can't believe Gulliver has intelligence, ala Planet of the Apes, because the humans/Yahoos on their island seem but. This causes a series of discussions with Gulliver and his "master" a horse who can't grasp lying, greediness and all the various other human frailties. A in his discussions with his master causes Gulliver to be more and more disgusted with the Yahoos on their island and even the humans back home. If knew more about 1850's English history I might of understood the societal, political times of England and Europe in general at that time. There is also an annotated volume which includes more detail. But I didn't read it so don't feel qualified to make an opinion on it, just letting people who are interested informing them it's out there.

    A classic
I recommend the classic novels in literature to everyone, however, this Novel test your endurance. The beginning of the novel is very good very interesting and reads well. The last roughly 3rd slows down a bit and is difficult to stay with . Over all I did enjoy reading this book .
    KINDLE VERSION FORMATTING SUCKS
THIS REVIEW SPECIFICALLY FOR THE KINDLE EDITION--
I was disappointed with the formatting on this classic. At least on my Kindle Fire, the footnote and endnote shortcuts seem to malfunction. Some bad line breaks and lots of small annoying things contribute to an overall less than satisfactory experience.
    But it is free.
    A Fantastic Voyage
This is far better than any of the various film versions of this novel. A tv mini series starring Ted Danson seems to get the author's satarical nature instead of just being a voyage to four fantastical lands.

    Editorial Reviews:
By the author of such science fiction classics as The Time Machine and War of the Worlds, The Diamond Maker is about a gentleman's strange encounter with a vagabond who claims he has found a way to synthesize diamonds! Performed by David Ian Davies, this science fiction staple serves as a conflicted investigation into greed and capitalism. David Ian Davies is a perfect narrator, his tone perfectly conveys the dry sensibility of late 19th-century England.
