The author did a great job of keeping me turning the pages
The author did a great job of keeping me turning the pages; however, I am still unsure of how I feel about this book. I hated the characters, but couldn't stop reading to see what happened to them next. Very strange indeed.
    I really enjoyed this book!
One of my teacher's recommended this book to me. These are the kind of books I love to read, perfect.

The latest, but hopefully not the last.
Where does Scotch Broom rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Scotch Broom is among the best of the audiobooks I've listened to so far.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Scotch Broom?
My favorite sections of the book are Kat's meetings with her traveling companions in the otherworld: Sianach the stag, Cusith the green hound, Cait Sidhe the cat and Diamond the unicorn. Not the most dramatic sections of the book perhaps, but it is so refreshing to meet a group of fey creatures that haven't already been used over and over again in works of fantasy.
Have you listened to any of Lisa Baarnss other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to several of Lisa Baarns' performances besides this one, they are all of uniformly high quality.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A young witch lost in the Otherworld, a scheming has-been goddess; what could possibly go wrong?
    Any additional comments?
This is the third volume in the Witches of Galderheim series. I'm hoping for a fourth.
My Review is for the Narration
Where does Scotch Broom rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
As the author, I think this penultimate book in the Witches of Galdorheim series is the best one, so I'll rate it #1.
What did you like best about this story?
Lisa Baarns narration brings to life all the various characters. Given that a good portion of them are fairy animals, her ability to make it easy to distinguish between them is fantastic. The reader knows when there's a conversation between Sianach and Cusith, which one is speaking. At times, four characters in dialogue are all easily told one from another without unnecessary dialogue tags.
Which character as performed by Lisa Baarns was your favorite?
Glaistig, the gray lady vampire of Scotland, is wonderfully drawn with a sexy, but breathy voice. It's easy to hear Glaistig's ability to draw men to their death.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Nearly six hours is a very long time to listen straight through. I wouldn't think anybody would or could do that.
    Any additional comments?
Lisa Baarns has narrated the entire Witches of Galdorheim series. She's done a fantastic job maintaining consistency of voice of the same characters throughout.

    Fantastic Narrator
If you could sum up Peter Crombie, Teenage Zombie in three words, what would they be?
    Superb, Fascinating, Engaging
What about Mark Blowerss performance did you like?
Mark's rendition of Teenage Zombie was easy to understand and follow; his voice seemed totally natural as if he were actually telling us a real story he recalled; it was very easy to follow the different characters when he gave each one a different voice; he wasn't too slow or too fast like some narrators I've tried to hear. He was definitely one of the best narrators I have heard, and I have listened to many audiobooks.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wasn't sure. I actually listened to it several times because Mark Blower's made it come to life. It was like watching a move several times and seeing different things you had missed the previous time.

The Fire Artist by Daisy Whitney
    Source: Netgalley
    My Rating: 4Â/5 stars
    My Review:
In the brave new world occupied by Aria Kilandros, the control of the elements is not only a very real thing but something that is revered, admired and, coveted. Science cannot explain why a certain number of people are born with the ability to control the elements but for those who can and are very adept with their abilities, there is fame and a fortune to be made. What science can explain is that the abilities tend to run in families, the gifts emerge around age thirteen if they are going to and taper off in the twenties. For those with elemental gifts, there is only a small window of opportunity to make their name and their fortune.
To become a famous elemental artist, one must have excellent control, a sense of showmanship and a great desire to achieve greatness. To that end, there are those among the artists who do not have a natural born gift but one that is manufactured, stolen. Aria Kilandros is one of those artists and every single day of her life, she lives in fear of being discovered. At just seventeen years old, Aria has made a name for herself as a fire artist and if her plans work out as she hopes they will, she will soon be able to leave the minor league shows for one of the larger, more prestigious leagues. Though she wasnât born with the ability to control fire, Aria has acquired the ability and sees it as her ticket out of the hell that is her life. Her father is a controlling and abusive man, her mother is a broken shell of the woman she used to be, her brother is an ex-con and, she must rely on her best-friend to help her restore her abilities on an ever-increasing basis. Ariaâs abilities are remarkable but they come at a very, very high cost. For years she and her best-friend have born that cost together but when Aria gets called up to the big leagues, she is forced to find a new means by which to replenish her abilities.
Life in New York is a mixed bag for Aria. On the one hand she is living her dream, she a player in the most prestigious elemental league and on the other hand, she is growing increasingly more desperate and her fire is waning and becoming unmanageable. Enter Taj, the most beautiful boy Aria has ever seen and the one person who can grant her greatest wish. Taj is an entity of legend and myth, a Granter and with the right words and the proper payment, he can secure Ariaâs abilities and her future. Granters are, in many ways tricksters and though Aria is in desperate need of Taj and his abilities, she also has to be very, very careful.

    Members Reviews:
Enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting to!
    Any additional comments?
For the most part I'm not usually very interested in ghost stories, but this one sounded intriguing and having enjoyed other books by this author I decided to give it a shot when I was offered the opportunity to review the audiobook version. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed this story! I really liked the main character Joy, even though she was a number of years younger than me I found myself relating to her quite a lot! I also found the whole story very neat, and while yes some parts did seem predictable to me but that did not lessen my enjoyment of the story, I also loved all the random moments of humor scattered throughout! I also loved that even though this was a fun story there was still a real depth and seriousness beneath the surface!
To be honest the narration of this audiobook was not my favorite thing about it, I'm not really sure why I didn't like that more but for some reason this narrator's reading style just was not my personal cup of tea.
In closing, I really enjoyed this book, highly recommend it and look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series as well as other works by this author!
Thank you to the author for providing me with a complimentary audiobook copy in exchange for honest review, which I have done.
All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.
    Delightful read!
Where does Haunting Joy rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I loved this book! The performance was expertly done, which drew me into the story. I'd say this book is one of the best I've listened to for its ease of understandability and clarity of presentation.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Haunting Joy?
Well, as embarrassing as it might be, the moment when Joy left the car in neutral was one of the most memorable moments. And this is only because I did the same thing!
Which character as performed by Stephanie Ballard was your favorite?
I loved Joy. I saw so much of myself in her. She brought me back to my een years.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Sometimes life surprises you in the most mysterious ways.
    Any additional comments?
Haunting Joy is the first book I've had the pleasure of reading from Lena Goldfinch. Even though I'm an adult, I really enjoyed this YA fiction story. In fact, after finishing it, I quickly went to Lena's website to see what books I could read next!
Lena has a strength of developing relatable characters that you can't help but fall in love with. As the story progressed, I began to see so much of myself in the main character of Joy. I was swept back into my own high school years, and the accuracy in which Lena presented the mindset of a teenager was spot on.

Title: Lost Town: A Fantasy Novella Series!
Subtitle: The Wyldemere Chronicles, Book 1
    Author: William Woodward
    Narrator: Melissa Chatwood
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 19 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-12-14
    Publisher: Billy Coury
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Teens, Ages 11-13
    Publisher's Summary:
Devon Lockwright had been hearing tales about the ruins beneath Wyldemere for as long as he could remember. He was only 17, but had an excellent mind for such things, so had absorbed most of what he'd heard - and read. In other words, even though he was still too young to grow a proper beard, he'd accumulated more knowledge on the subject than any historian in town. Devon had trouble accepting some of the more outlandish bits (most of which had been conveyed to him in hushed tones by his very dearly departed grandfather), things such as bottomless lakes teeming with luminescent fish, and great lumbering beasts sporting ivory horns studded with gemstones. But if even the most conservative of the tales turned out to be true, then there was no doubt that the underground city existed, and little doubt that its ruins stretched the length and breadth of the above ground city, its crumbling buildings filled with all manner of rare and wondrous things, items he prayed would fetch a pretty penny in the local curiosity shops.
No one could agree on exactly, or even approximately, how far down the ruins went, just that they existed, that they were deep, and that layer upon layer upon layer had been raised as the centuries passed, each with its own unique history and architecture. Some called it, "Lost Town". Others, "Wyldewhen". And still others, "Wyldewhere". But regardless of its depth and name, most folks could agree on this: The parts constructed of stone and mortar, instead of wood, remained largely intact to this day, haunted, if not by spirits, then by the artifacts and treasures of a bygone age.

    LOST TOWN
What a great book. Devon knows of a place below his home of Wyldemere called Lost Town. He decides to go down exploring for treasures and adventure. Answering Devon's ad for a partner, Sara joins in the adventure because her Uncle Robert was an archaeologist. That is when this adventure starts. This is a fun read that I know would really appeal to young adults and considering this is a continuing series I believe it is a definite winner. Great job!
    Fabulous read
This serial fantasy harkens back to the days or yore when newspapers carried serial stories. Each week Woodward posted an installment. It was so much fun! Now we get to read it all at once. Thanks William.
This will leave you hungry for more and unwilling to accept less
Steampunk and Magic combine for epic satisfaction, The only downside is the wait for more to be written. Be warned you will wait without patience!
    awesome
    great!
    Well-written and easy to read
In Lost Town we find pleasantly a kind of underworld adventure involving the relationship of a young man to a young woman, as they face a series of challenges, particularly to their potential for resourcefulness. I feel that the friendship itself is also somehow nicely nostalgic towards adolescence.

I love giving books as gifts
I love giving books as gifts, especially to younger readers who are just discovering the joy of reading. James Patterson is one of my favorite authors, and his support of young readers â and libraries â makes him a hero in my eyes. His YA books are fun and encourage young readers because they deal with topics that are interesting to them at that age.
