    EXCELLENT!!!
I could not stop listening to this audio! If you like Harry Potter and Artimis Fowl then you must listen to this book. I have not always been a fan of Brendan Fraser, but he completely changed my mind, he brought the characters to life. I hope that Cornelia Funke has him read the next book. This book was one of my favorites of the year!
    Best narrator ever!
I love Cornelia Funke's books and her writing doesn't disappoint. The characters are unique in their blend of original fantasy and realism, exemplified in the Brownie Sorrel. However, I was completely blown away by the quality of Brendan Fraser's narration! He must have imitated 10 different accents, added completely realistic sound effects and generally made the whole story come to life so that there wasn't a dull moment! I look forward to listening to anything he narrates. Overall, highly recommended for all ages!
    FANTASTIC
Fantastic story and Brendan Fraser characters made it come to life!!
I look forward to more books read by Brendan Fraser!!
Great job, both author and narrator!
I've been listening to this book with my children, aged 6 and 9. Both of them love it, as do I. I find the distinct voices for each of the characters a delight - it reminds me of the superb job done on the Harry Potter audiobooks.
My kids would happily stay in the car listening to the story for a long time (hours?) after we reach our destination. I'll be sad to reach the end!
    Amazing
I typically wouldn't listen to children's books, but the reviews here caught my attention. This was probably the most thoroughly entertaining book I have ever listened to. Not only was this written by an enormously talented author, but Brendan Fraser was simply amazing. I've never had an opinion one way or the other about him, but this completely changed my view of him. To call what he did 'reading' would be such an understatement that it would be an insult. What he did in Dragon Rider was a performance, and a pretty spectacular one at that.
I don't know if he's available to do the same thing for any other books, but if he does, I'll happily buy them. He was nothing short of incredible.

Not quite Harry Potter ... better
This series has been compared time and time again to the Harry Potter books, and, though I love HP, these series are NOT the same. You have a set of young friends, who are wizards, who fight against dark forces and deal with life's issues. But that is where the similarity ends. The wizardry books are more imaginative, filled with different beings, different worlds, creative and twist turning adventures that will leave readers wanting more and waiting impatiently to download the next edition. Not only is the story incredible but the narrarator is the best I've heard yet. Each character's voice is distinct and believable and allows you to immerse yourself completely in the story. This is a great series for for children and adults alike. I love it.
    I'm hooked.
I'd have to say this is better than the first three Harry Potter books, but it seems to me that the comparison isn't a very good one. I'm a Potter addict, mind you, but where the HP books sometimes fall into silliness, in particular with the magic, this is more like one of the Heinlein Juveniles, except with fantasy instead of sci-fi. (And there's just a hint of sci-fi.)
The story is intelligent and well thought out, and the characters are convincing and endearing. Like the Heinlein Juveniles, it doesn't talk to the reader like a baby or stick to one-syllable words.
Oh, and the reader is superb to the point that when I finish this series, I will look at what else she has done to see if anything gets my attention.
High hopes for this series-- I bought the second and third immediately after finishing this one.
    Loved it!
If you could sum up So You Want to Be a Wizard in three words, what would they be?
    Fun, Gripping, Youthful
What about Christina Moore???s performance did you like?
Excellent voices and she really keeps the story moving along. One of my favorite readers so far. Awesome job Christina!
    Any additional comments?
The story is great for young readers and old alike. Listened to it with my kids (8 & 9) and they really liked it. What a fantastic novel, I really enjoyed this one.
An Old Favourite Come to Life
My mother read Diane Duane's Young Wizard Series to me when I was a child and I love them every bit as much now as I did then. The series has a timelessness to it that make's it a pure joy for readers of any age. Having 'So You Want to Be a Wizard' read out loud to me again for the first time in years was wonderful fun. Christina Moore, the narrator, does a beautiful job of bring Nita, Kit, and Fred to life.

    Critic Reviews:
"A tour de force, Harriet the Spy bursts with life." (School Library Journal)
"A brilliantly written, unsparingly realistic story, a superb portrait of an extraordinary child." (Chicago Tribune)
    Members Reviews:
    Not just for girls
I read Harriet the Spy when I was a girl, and I loved it, but I was worried whether my two active and ALL-boy sons (ages 7 and 8) would enjoy hearing a story with a female protagonist. I shouldn't have worried. They have been mesmerized by Harriet's exploits, and we've had lots of discussions about how Harriet got into the mess she's in, and how she should get out. The narrator is excellent, bringing the vast array of characters to life. I highly recommend this for boys and girls alike!
    Listen to the sample
Before purchasing, be sure you listen to a sample. The narrator is very enthusiastic, something that no doubt helps engage child listeners, but may be grating after only a few minutes for the adult reader. If you don't like her intonation in the sample, you'd do better to read the book because she never loses enthusiasm.
The novel itself is a classic, and though Harriet can be spoiled and disagreeable, it's a must-read for any child interested in the arts, journalism, spying, or secrets (and what child isn't interested in at least the last two?). For any adult who used to be such a child, it will bring back memories, and for those who have precocious and observant children, it may bring understanding.
This is a book people either love or hate, but even those who hate it can gain something from Harriet's observations about friendship and growing up.
    Best book for a report
It was easy for me to read and the voucher has a beautiful voice I love this book I wrote a report on it only in 2 days BEST BOOK EVER
    Up and down
I carried the sky has parts that can be very boring and very intriguing and exciting. Some spots they want me to just put the book down and forget about it. But trust me you will not want to do. I wish it was exciting but as long as you don't put down you'll get through this.
    Fantastic Narration!!
Narrator is definitely on point! Worth the money! Thank you for the great reading...

    Title: Treasure Island
    Author: Robert Louis Stevenson
    Narrator: Michael Prichard
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 22 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-22-03
    Publisher: Tantor Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 121 votes
    Genres: Kids, Ages 8-10
    Publisher's Summary:
The family doctor recognizes the map as the key to a fortune. This commences a Caribbean treasure hunt, with the pirates only steps behind! Seventeen set sail, how many will return? This novel launched Stevenson on his long and fascinating writing career, and was the beginning of the pirate genre, with peg-legs, parrots, pieces-of-eight and the original Long John Silver.
    Critic Reviews:
"With its dastardly plot and motley crew of rogues and villains, it seems unlikely that children will ever say no to this timeless classic." (Amazon.com)
    Members Reviews:
Truly a pleasure to listen too.
The narrator really brought this classic to life. His changes in tone and speaking mannerisms truly has to be heard to be appreciated. I was engulfed once again in this classic tale of buccaneers. A must have!
Yo Ho! Ho! and a Bottle of Rum
This one was a pure delight. Stevenson's brilliantly woven narrative makes a gripping storyline. It was also fascinating to understand how much popular culture borrows from his work. It was definitely a classic worth the time.
    Aye Matey, well done!
Who could not like "Treasure Island", Long John Silver, Jim Hawkins, the Admiral Benbow Inn? The quintessential pirate treasure tale, Stevenson's work is a better listen than read; I've found this true with much late 1800, early 1900 literature (like Huckleberry Finn). The reader does a great job. If your only experience has been printed, try a listen.
    Very well read
    Narrator does an excellent job!!
Good price, reasonable narration, poor conversion.
The biggest irritation of this audiobook is the fact that it was clearly harvested from a prior CD book. The phrase "This is the end of the CD. The program continues on the next CD." quickly becomes tiresome. When they merged the works, they could have easily dropped these lines.
The audio quality, at first, seems slightly better than marginal, but as the narrator progresses, these quips melt away. The story comes through and draws the listener in.
The work certainly would benefit from a fuller cast and better apparent sound quality, but the work succeeds at its current level.
The biggest plus is the price. This price allows the listener to enjoy the work despite its short-comings.
Overall, I'd recommend it while at the the same time acknowledging that I believe I would have enjoyed a more lively production. I still may.

    Enjoyable classic read well
7-yr-old daughter loves listening to this book! She's listened to the whole thing at least 10 times in 3 months. Also, the narrator is great - and I am quite picky about narrators.
    Great Family Read Aloud
I loved this series growing up, and I have enjoyed sharing it with my children (girl, 9 and boy, 7)! However, I have really enjoyed having the audible version this time around! The reader does an excellent job of voicing the characters so that you remember that many of them are immigrants!

This was a sweet, wholesome story that my five year old daughter and I both enjoyed! It is a story about simple things like lost library books, family celebrations, eating soup, and going to the beach. It held our attention to the point where the story had to be paused if one of us needed to leave the room.
    ok book
I liked this book but feel it is geared to pre-teen and early teens. should be in that category.

    Editorial Reviews:
Beginning with Anne of Green Gables in 1908, author Lucy Maud Montgomery created a publishing enterprise as ambitious and successful as its heroine, the flame-haired and hot-tempered orphan, Anne Shirley. Performed in a mature, impeccable American English by Barbara Caruso, Anne of Avonlea is the second of six Anne novels. The present volume finds Anne at age 16, teaching school, studying with Gilbert, forming a social club, and getting into her usual trouble.
Along with the unforgettable heroine and great quirky side characters, the listener is treated to the small, peaceful Prince Edward Island in Northeastern Canada, beginning on "...an August afternoon with blue hazes scarfing the harvest slopes, little winds whispering elfishly in the poplars"...
    Critic Reviews:
"Barbara Caruso gives a delightful reading of an old-fashioned, reassuring classic. For all ages." (Lawrence Eagle Tribune)
    Members Reviews:
    Barbara Caruso is excellent
The entire series is so wonderful, very engaging, nothing objectionable. And Barabara Caruso feels like a friend, her narration is the very best. I now judge all other narrators by her.
    Beautifully narrated!
I have enjoyed listening to Barbara Caruso's reading of the Anne of Green Gables series. Her voice is delightful and it adds so much to the stories. Positively perfect in every way!
    This Narrator nails it!
If you could sum up Anne of Avonlea in three words, what would they be?
I have read this book probably 20 times and seen the movie as many times. The narrator makes all the difference in the world to a very familiar and loved story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Anne of Avonlea?
I love the Davey character. Even better as he was narrated. I find myself saying after recently listening to thi sbook again "Why (insert question here)...I wanna know."
Have you listened to any of Barbara Carusos other performances before? How does this one compare?
In Anne of green Gables...and she was the reason why I chose her narration on this second book. Some reviewers complained she was a bit over the top...I thought she captured Anne in all her essence...and the so important supporting characters. She had a wonderful range that made her believable as most of the characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I ALWAYS CRY no matter how many times I read this book. SO TOUCHING.
    Any additional comments?
A must read for all little girls..from young to old. I am almost 40 now and love the story just as much as I did when I was a little girl.
    Childhood remembered
I bought this book for my wife, who loved "The Anne Books" while she was growing up. And my wife loved this audio version as well. The narration does an excellent job capturing the moods and voices of each character.

We adore the Candymaker books! Our 10, 8, and even 6 year old were captivated by the story! The characters are great. The plot is intricate and intriguing. The experience is full of innocence and wonder!
    Almost plausible fun
If youre a stickler for feasible fiction, this book may tick you off. Most of the time, the quirky exciting things seem extremely imaginative, but overall or vaguely plausible. A couple of instances are just dumb; but there werent enough to ruin the book. I still loved it.

We've listened to this twice now. I think I've enjoyed listening as much or more than I would have enjoyed reading it. It will be the next read for my book club.
Great book to share with my 6th grade class.
We loved it. My students were inspired to take on some injustices as well and it gave us relevant information about today's world.
    Great read
Absolutely love this audio book. The story line is simple but thought provoking! definately recommend reading/listening to this novel.
This Story Needs to Be Told
This is the story of a Pakistani boy who was killed for standing up against forced labor and indentured servitude of children and poor people. Told through the eyes of a young girl who was chained to a carpet loom beside him, the story explains how children end up in such factories, how they live, how they are treated. It also shows the corruption of the society that would allow such injustice to go unchecked. The narrator does a fantastic job of maturing with the first person point of view, as well as voicing various characters in the story. She also manages to capture the foreign sights, sounds and diction of Pakistan without stereotyping.

Sure, kids would love to buy stuff like that at school. But would teachers and the principal permit it? Not likely.
But how about comic books? Comic books might work. Especially the chunky little ones that Greg writes and illustrates himself. Because everybody knows that school always encourages reading and writing and creativity and individual initiative, right?
In this funny and timely novel, Andrew Clements again holds up a mirror to real life and invites young readers to think about money, school, friendship, and what it means to be a success.
