It is awesome!
I found this book to be very entertaining! It was hard to put down and definitely excellent. I am planning to purchase other works from this author. I enjoy his writing style and felt his story telling was superb! I personally do not follow a lot of the current vampire movies and books, and wasn't originally sure I would enjoy the content, but the book came highly recommended to me by a friend, so I bought it. I really enjoyed the engaging and suspenseful plot, and am hoping for a sequel!
Vampires and Teenagers what a mix
We need to start off with the statement that normally I do not read books about vampires. I started reading this book with a little reluctance, but before I knew it I was so caught up in the book I did not stop reading it until I finished it.
This book is about Duncan, a young man who has lost his parents, had a foster mother killed in a car accident two weeks before, who is also a poor kid that is a new student in high school full of rich kids and has moved to a new town with new foster parents. All of that is more than enough to make a good story.
Add to that at the age of 17 Duncan was in the car wreck when his foster mother was killed and knows he should have been killed. He wasn't killed, and the early part of the book is about Duncan finding out that, in that wreck, he became a vampire. I will let you read the book to find out how that happened.
Duncan is befriended by Amber a beautiful redhead who is the leader of a band called Savage Summer. When he joins the band, she quickly becomes his girlfriend. Again enough for a great story without Duncan the teenager learning he is a vampire.
With a new band trying to get started, teenagers finding out what love is, getting started in a new school, a night club for vampires and a battle to determine the leader of the vampires in Seattle this is more than just a good read. Lucas McWilliams books are very fast paced and full of action, but this book steps it up a level.
I agree with what others have mentioned. I know there is a sequel to this book and I look forward to reading it. If you like vampire stories or teenagers coming of age stories, then this is a book for you. It does not matter if you are a young adult or an adult this is a good read.
