Nl: De ijzige wind blies door de straten van Amsterdam.
En: The icy wind blew through the streets of Amsterdam.

Nl: De grachten lagen rustig, met een dun laagje sneeuw op de kades.
En: The canals lay quietly with a thin layer of snow on the quays.

Nl: Maartje stond stil aan de rand van de Prinsengracht.
En: Maartje stood still at the edge of the Prinsengracht.

Nl: Ze keek naar de hoge, smalle grachtenpanden.
En: She gazed at the tall, narrow canal houses.

Nl: Hun klassieke architectuur fascineerde haar al sinds ze klein was.
