You may not think of it as a “Disney” film but 1980’s POPEYE starring Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall was in fact produced by Disney along with Paramount and Richard Evans Productions. The film has earned a cult status since it’s release nearly 40 years ago despite it being a financial success. The reviews from critics and audiences alike were all over the place and leaning more heavily in the negative. What about it though? Has time shown it for what it really is one way or another? We will discuss that, the production history and the film itself on this weeks episode of Disney Magic Hour! Let’s go! It’s showtime!

Extra bit of show this week as the Oscar nominations were announced and we discuss the nods under the Disney banner and if they have a shot at bringing some home.  Mary Poppins Returns and Black Panther are listed in a number of technical categories while also getting representation in the music slots and even Best Picture.  Could Black Panther pull it off though?  Could the first ever superhero film ever nominated for Best Picture bring home the Oscar?  That and more in this special bonus episode!

2019 is another huge slate of films being produced by the Disney company and we are here to sort it all out and discuss what we know and which ones are grabbing our attention the most.  Starting with CAPTAIN MARVEL and wrapping up in a Galaxy Far Far Away there is a lot of ground to cover.  Is this the year that audiences start to grow weary of "live-action" remakes?  Will AVENGERS rule the year?  Maybe ARTEMIS FOWL comes out and starts a new franchise after Disney had it failings with NARNIA?  Let's go! It's showtime!

Another year comes to an end and it's time to look back and rank what our Top 3 of the past 12 months from the House of Mouse are.  The year started off with Black Panther dominating and Mary Poppins Returns closed off another massive intake at the box office for the company.  A new Star Wars film quietly came and left as well with The Incredibles returning after a 15 year absence.  Which films stuck with us though?  Did Christopher Robin keep tugging at the heartstrings?  Has anyone brought up Nutcracker and The Four Realms?  Lots to discuss, lets go, it's showtime!!

This week's film is the 1980 supernatural/sci-fi film, THE WATCHER IN THE WOODS starring Bette Davis.  Does this childhood horror hold up to the test of time?  With a production history that saw three different endings cut together from a possible 152, can the end result feel coherent under further examination?  It's an odd era for the Disney studio and this film is one of the strangest. We dig into that AND the recent cancellation of DAREDEVIL!

Special guest, John BIG FAT PANDA Saccheri joins us this week as Pete and Melyssa review Disney's latest animated release, RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET which is the sequel to 2012's WRECK IT RALPH.  With the first film being such a pleasant surprise filled with off the wall humor and emotional weight, can the sequel raise the stakes even more while keeping the heart at the center of the film?  We will discuss that and the new THE LION KING "live action" teaser trailer!!

This week the gang reviews the 1980 cult film MIDNIGHT MADNESS and say goodbye to Stan Lee, hello to TOY STORY 4 and welcome Pedro Pascal to THE MANDALORIAN.  The main event is MIDNIGHT MADNESS though as the journey through the Disney library continues and we hit the 80's like a freight train.  Does this cult flick hold up though?  Is it just the nostalgia of youth viewings?  The team breaks it down and question the limits one can take of the sophomoric humor of the time.

The Disney Magic Hour is traveling through time and space to review the utterly bonkers 1979 THE BLACK HOLE.  Take a trip with us and #NotNemo to beyond the realm of our reality into (checks notes) ...Hell?  We will discuss the production of the film, the actors involved, where the story came from and how it all comes together as we ask the three questions we put to any film... 1) Does it hold up?  2) Does it achieve its moral message/what is the moral message? 3) What is the iconic shot? Why is Ernest Borgnine dressed as a lion?
