Disney Plus Reviews

It's your unofficial Disney+ podcast, reviewing the most popular stuff on Disney+!

This week, we're talking about the NEW Pixar movie "Onward", which just released in theaters a month ago and is already on Disney+ thanks to the pandemic. Set in a suburban fantasy world, the film follows two elf brothers who set out on a quest to find an artifact that will bring back their deceased father.

Spoilers abound so make sure you've seen the movie (or just don't care about the movie being spoiled). We get into it all - manticores, magic gems, Guinevere (the van), the quest and how it's built on D&D tropes, the incredible voice acting and animation, etc.

It's Ahsoka Tano time! Clone Wars season 7 discussion is BACK this week on the show and we're talking about episodes 5 and 6 - "Gone with a Trace" and "Deal No Deal" - starring Ahsoka. Full spoilers (you have been warned)!

Who are the Martez sisters? Binary Load Lifters are basically demolition droids, not everybody loves the Jedi, the girls are spice running and the Pykes have it in for all of them. When does Ahsoka start using her Jedi powers in "force"? And, more importantly, when does this story arc get good??

Go Mud Frogs! This week, we're talking about Stargirl, the new Disney+ exclusive movie that released this month. Is this movie worth a watch? Find out in the first 10 minutes of the podcast and then we get into spoilers from there. We'll get into all the details - the porcupine tie, Hot Seat, Archie's Dinotastic Camp, vinyl records, and - of course - the enigma that is Stargirl. Is she real? Was she a dream? Is she magical? We get into our theories.

But, more importantly, is "Be True to Your School" an original song or a cover performance in this movie? You be the judge! (or just look it up on the Internet)

Hey Blimp-o! Too many Twinkies! That's right - we've watched Flight of the Navigator for the first time in several decades and we're giving a 2020 review of it. Hey, it's on Disney+ and you can watch it... which you might not want to after you hear our review. There's a lot to like and a lot to roll your eyes at in this Paul Reubens movie. Coming to you from 1986 - the story of a boy who hits his head and realizes 8 years have passed while he hasn’t aged a day. And that there is an alien spaceship that holds the truth to where he has been all this time.

Let's get down to business! We're talking about the 1998 Mulan movie from Disney today, in advance of the 2020 live action remake coming out. Haven't seen the original since 1998? Don't worry - we've got you covered with a full recap of the movie and then give our thoughts on it (we were much more pleased with it than we thought we would be!). From the soundtrack to the writing to the performances to the animation - this is a great film.

Code Black! Coming to you live from Springfield, Missouri, we're discussing The Simpsons Movie this week! It's a 2007 movie that Phil just got to watch this week for the first time but an old favorite for Jack. They're getting into all kinds of discussions about the movie as well as the show, which is in its 31st season this year! Definitely an interesting addition to Disney+ to say the least - but a welcome one.

Also, will there be a sequel? What else have the guys been watching on Disney+?

Except, this week, we're reviewing something that's probably NOT very popular on Disney+. It's time to discuss the phenomenon that is "The Black Hole" a movie that came out in 1979 and tried to get some of that Star Wars and Star Trek money. Yes, Disney made a sci-fi movie in 1979 and we watched it. "Humanoids", the U.S.S. Cygnus, Maximilian the killer robot, V.I.N.CENT, skeet shooting, E.S.P. - we get into ALL of it.

And what the heck is up with that ending? We give our interpretations.

Special thanks to our guest on the show this week - Jerry McMullen from The Worst. Comic. Podcast. Ever! Check them out at https://wcpever.com/
