Disposable Heroes

Round 2 for Stanton Moore here at Disposable Heroes. We're honored to think we've built a bit of a brotherhood with Stanton over the last couple years, but this is yet another example of how strong and glorious the drum community is! Yee and Stanton catch up on his band Galactic, the legendary funk/jazz outfit from New Orleans, but the quick convo hits its peak when they touch on the Stanton Moore Drum Academy, which leads to an embellishment of love for drumming and just how magical music is. 2 drummers are like 2 kids in a candy store! Huge mahalo for taking the time again!

Aloha,

[imgfull][/imgfull] Mike Johnston was living the dream of most drummers, playing in a rad band that had a deal with a major record label and touring heaps! What he knew the whole time that most people didn’t was that he had a different calling, the world needed him to teach and spread the magical blessing that is drumming. Well answer the call he did……..and he brought a bunch of “biscuits” with him! These days Mike is one of the most sought after drum instructors in the world and runs mikeslessons.com (when I say run, i mean him and his lovely... Read more »

These days Mike is one of the most sought after drum instructors in the world and runs mikeslessons.com (when I say run, i mean him and his lovely wife Amber do EVERYTHING from top to bottom) which is arguably the best online drum courses on the interwebs. For myself, as a drummer through and through who has been playing for most of his life, when i stumbled upon Mike's youtube channel I fell head over heels in love with drumming more than I have ever been! The understanding he brings to things you may or may not know is mind blowing, and for that brother Johnston.....I THANK YOU!!!!! Aloha -Yee

[imgfull][/imgfull] Matt and Yee actually go back together to past warped tours, I believe 2011 to be specific. Though their paths have been very different the synergy in this convo is evident! Matt is a founding member of the iconic metalcore band August Burns Red, who has their 9th studio album coming out 4/3/20 entitled “Guardians”, please go and give the new single “Defender” a head bang. Though August Burns Red is the root of Matt, HE is a major root of the drum community. Matt has started his own drum company, has a custom “blast bell” via Zildjian and... Read more »
