  • Summit Speaker Series: Arthur Shorr

    Arthur S. Shorr is President and Founder of Arthur S. Shorr & Associates, Inc., Consultants to Health Care Providers; a management consulting firm specializing in providing operational consulting, business, and strategic planning services to Hospitals, Medical Groups and Physicians. Mr. Shorr testifies on Corporate Negligence and Institutional liability of hospitals, nursing homes, and licensed healthcare facilities.

    Shorr holds an MBA in Health Care Administration from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Economics from Brooklyn College, City University of New York. He is Board Certified in Healthcare Administration, and is a Life Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

    Mr. Shorr has been active professionally in the healthcare field for over 40+ years on a full-time basis. He has held senior executive positions in major Medical Centers including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, serving as Senior Vice-President of Administration and Chief Operating Officer; the Mount Sinai Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as Administrator and Chief Operating Officer, and Acting President and Chief Executive Officer. He began his career at Hutzel Hospital, a 400-bed teaching hospital component of The Detroit Medical Center.

    Mr. Shorr has served on numerous healthcare governing boards, and currently serves as a Trustee and Board member of The American Hospital Management Corporation and Mad River Community Hospital in Arcata, California. He is also a Director/Board Member of the Desert Health Care District in Palm Springs CA.

    He is the author of numerous peer reviewed articles, is a frequent national lecturer on Health Care Policy, Contemporary Issues in Healthcare Administration, and Hospital Corporate Negligence. In 2009, Shorr authored: “Hospital Corporate Negligence, Legal & Administrative Issues; Westlaw Thomson-Reuters October 2009.

    He is a recurring speaker for national educational seminars sponsored by the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Trial Advocacy College, and the American Association for Justice. He has also lectured internationally in South Africa, Australia & Israel. He was faculty at Wayne State University, the University of Southern California School of Policy, Planning and Development, and currently is adjunct faculty at The George Washington University Milken School of Public Health & Health.

  • Summit Speaker Series: Dr. Miranda Kitterlin-Lynch

    Dr. Miranda Kitterlin-Lynch is an Associate Professor in the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Florida International University, as well as a Coca-Cola Endowed Professor. 

    She received her doctoral degree in Hospitality Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is the Director of Membership Services and Development for the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (ICHRIE), as well as the Associate Editor for the International Hospitality Review, and a Bloomin’ Brands DEI Alliance Research Fellow. In 2017, Dr. Kitterlin-Lynch received the FIU Faculty Senate Award for Excellence in Teaching, and in 2021 she received the FIU Faculty Senate Award for Excellence in Advising and Mentoring. Dr. Kitterlin-Lynch is a Coca-Cola Endowed Professor, the recipient of international and domestic Best Paper awards, and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, conference proceedings, and trade/industry publications. She has also edited a textbook in her area of specialty and given a number of media interviews.

    Paul is a seasoned veteran of all aspects of the hospitality industry, from development, branding, and connecting to operational systems and problem-solving. Paul has owned and operated restaurants, bars, and nightclubs in New York City, and worked as President of the New York Hospitality Alliance to establish better relationships between the New York nightlife community and city and police officials after a tumultuous past relationship between the environments.

    On this episode of Disrupting The Dominoes, Arlene meets with Edward Wilson, a.k.a. Obbie West, international spoken word artist, advocate, and author. Originally from Los Angeles, California, Edward is a retiree from the United States Army. He began writing in 2011 and later published his first acclaimed book of poetry entitled "Blossom."

    Obbie travels the world as an educator, trainer, and speaker using poetry to tackle tough topics such as sexual violence, prevention, and awareness. He has invested a personal and sincere interest in shifting the climate around sexual assault and harassment throughout the U.S.Military, universities, and communities at large.

    Eric Barreras is the Founder of Difference Makers (10 Strong), a group of collaborative violence prevention experts whose primary goal is to address various forms of sexual and domestic violence around the globe. In addition, he serves as a Victim Advocate Program Specialist for the U.S. Coast Guard Sexual Assault Response and Recovery Program. 

    As a survivor of sexual assault and domestic violence in his childhood home, Eric has made it his life’s mission to utilize his personal and professional experiences to change the culture and bring awareness to difficult topics surrounding various forms of abuse and its impact on individuals and communities.

    Arlene Limas OLY meets with Tom Rose, business consultant with the Association of ESD Professionals, and President of IMPACT Personal Safety Global. 

    Tom has more than 30 years of leadership and management experience with organizations helping at-risk, under-served and vulnerable populations. During his career he has worked in the following areas: Behavioral Health, Child Welfare, Disabilities, Drug and Alcohol Prevention and Treatment, Family Leadership and Engagement, Healthcare Policy and Financing, Public Health, and Prevention of Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence.  Currently, Tom is Executive Director of IMPACT Personal Safety of Colorado and IMPACT Southern California.

    Nationally, Tom is the Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Family Partnership Network, Executive Committee, and past Chair of the Colorado Medicaid Provider Rate Review Advisory Committee.  In the past, he served for four years as Treasurer and Policy Committee Member of Family Voices National, for five years as a member of the Georgetown University – Community of Practice for Cultural and Linguistic Competency in Disabilities, and for two years as a Member of the Colorado Regional Transportation District Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities.

    Tom is also a Certified Trainer for “Serving on Groups that Make Decisions – A Guide for Families and Self Advocates”, and for “Leading by Convening – A Blueprint for Providers for Authentic Family Engagement”.

    Tom enjoys the Colorado lifestyle with his wife Beatriz and is the proud father of two young adults. Lucia just completed her second year of law school and Sage recently completed his undergraduate degree, both at the University of San Diego. Tom’s hobbies include: a love of history, learning about different cultures mounting biking, swimming, and gourmet cooking.
