Dissect That Film

It's time to venture into the MONTH OF 1986 as we look at the horror musical LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Yes, I said it! Horror musical. This movie is about a guy who feeds a giant plant human bodies. With a stellar cast, amazing practical effects and songs that are beyond catchy, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is an unforgettable experience. Did we all love this one? Does Dan finally change his tune on musicals? Does Audrey II make an appearance in the episode? I guess it's time to feed the plant and dance our way into this episode. #MovieReview #DissectThatFilm

We've reached the end of our MONTH OF 1985, as this week we let our lovely patrons help us decide what to cover. So this week we look at the film that almost took down the animation department at Disney, 1985's THE BLACK CAULDRON. Behind the scenes issues, a dark script and 12 minutes of cut material by ONE man, THE BLACK CAULDRON is a long forgotten piece of the Disney puzzle that to this day doesn't get discussed enough. Did we enjoy our journey to Prydain? Did the darkness overtake us and suck us into the cauldron? Lets dive in and find out. #MovieReview #DissectThatFilm

Will you be my Valentine? This week we celebrate Valentines Day (a little late, I know) by looking at the 1981 Canadian slasher, MY BLOODY VALENTINE. This film is filled with insane kills, a love triangle, a mean mustache and a dark desolate mine, accompanied by a lot of "soorys" and a miner who doesn't like people having fun. Is this truly the most Canadian horror film out there? Let us know Canada! Lets take a trip to Valentine Bluff and have a BLOODY good time.  YEEE HAWWW!! #MovieReview #DissectThatFilm

It's week 2 of our MONTH OF 1985 and Parker has brought to the table the Disney powered nightmare fueled sequel to a 1939 classic, RETURN TO OZ. Joining us this week is the wonderful Alli of the Quad Pro Quo Podcast, as she returns to the film that started it all for her show. Between the nightmarish creatures, the men with wheels for hands and feet and a woman who can literally change out her head like a hat, this film was the source of many children's fears growing up. Did Parker choose the scariest film ever covered on the show? How do the wheelers wipe their butts? This and so much more are covered in this weeks acid trip of an episode. It's time to ride our Gump to Oz and fight a Nome King! YEEE HAWWW!! #MovieReview #DissectThatFilm

For episode 139 and our final episode of 2023, we are joined by Joe La Scola, one half of the amazing MOVIE DUMPSTER to discuss the 1987 UK shlockfest BLOODY NEW YEAR. A film inspired by other classic horror films of the 80's, BLOODY NEW YEAR brings the over the top kills, UK humor, and some of the most interesting acting you've ever seen. Joe helps us break down whether this film you'll want to ring in the new year with, or if this belongs in a time loop where no one can see it. Let's ring out 2023 on a weird note! #MovieReview #DissectThatFilm

On episode 138 we are joined by the wonderful  @OfficialJoeyC  to talk about the almost 20 year old Christmas favorite, THE POLAR EXPRESS. Based on the book by JUMANJI writer Chris Van Allsburg, the story consists of a kid who starts not believing in Santa, so a magical train abducts him and other children to bring them to the North Pole to bring back the faith. Does this one hold up all these years later? Is the animation close to uncanny valley? It's time to explore the weird world of THE POLAR EXPRESS and maybe, just maybe, we'll feel that same magic. ALL ABOARD!!! #MovieReview #DissectThatFilm

We're here to celebrate one of the best streaming services around, TUBI! This month we get festive with what some might believe to be one of the "worst movies ever made", 1964's SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS. A low budgeted affair that's been talked about a lot for almost 50 years. We give you a look into what we thought of the movie and if it deserves that less than distinguished title. Does Santa actually conquer any martians? Who knows, but lets talk about it. HO HO HO!
