DISTRIKT

What an awesome vibe heading back to Burning Man and playing DISTRIKT in their new home; that I think, is much better for everyone to enjoy. I'm really looking forward to getting back this year and playing more funky, Afro beats, and classic house for you all. But until then, here’s my set from last year…Enjoy it and TURN IT UP! 😎❌🔥

For me, Burning Man signifies entering a dimension of freedom and maximum expression, a place where I can take risks but also the ideal spot to play my favorite music, not necessarily dance music. I remember finishing my set at the camp where I had set up, then biking under the scorching sun towards DISTRIKT. A pleasant sandstorm swept over me as I pedaled to reach the opposite side of the playa... the magic fueled by a small bottle of mezcal and there I am at the controls of one of my favorite sound camps... I cherish these moments, the scents, the embraces, the gazes, and smiles of the audience. Music is magic, but even more so, a mystery!

This was the first ever sunrise set at DISTRIKT and our first visit to DISTRIKT.

Together with everybody who was present, we had a musical flight that took off in pitch black darkness and soared into the rising orange sun. It was a unique experience and certainly one we’ll never forget. Thank you for dancing and sharing this moment together!

I felt the biggest honor to play Monday sunset at DISTRIKT for Burning Man 2023; their parties were a highlight of my first (2022) burn. The day was scorching, and I was still mentally adjusting to the playa having just traveled from Thailand two days prior. I went into the set without a plan (as always) but with an intention - balancing fun and emotion. I tested quite a bit of unreleased tracks and edits, as there is no better place to push your boundaries than the playa. As the sun began to set, the temperature cooled, and the energy of the crowd went through the roof. I’ll never forget this stunning evening.

As a DISTRIKT resident and member of their playa family since the Deep End days, I always look forward to the energy and community on the DISTRIKT dance floor. Every year is unique and brings me the inspiration and challenge to bring a driving narrative of playa vibes that are fresh and reflect what a DISTRIKT set means to me. I’m loving the new location at the tip of the world and hope this recording takes you all back to that beautiful Monday night!

“When the sun sets over the playa, the freaks come out to play. For this occasion, as is tradition, DISTRIKT and Robot Heart joined forces and tied up their sound systems for one of my favorite parties I have yet witnessed at Burning Man. Something special happened that day. Playa magic.”
