Did you know black women are 2 to 3 times more likely to undergo hysterectomy surgery for fibroid treatment than other racial groups or that black women are 2.5 times more likely to die of pregnancy and childbirth related complications? The statistics are disturbing to say the least. While daunting, many maternal health issues and the complications that can arise from them are preventable. Addressing them can lead to significantly better healthcare outcomes for black women and women of color.
