Even though a tentative agreement has been reached between the carriers and labor unions. it still has to be approved by the members! Major point of contention , paid sick time off! for those that don't know, many railroad employees do not have paid sick time off, And the carriers want to keep it that way.

Episode 4 discusses the current state of contract negotiations between the Class 1 carriers and the unions representing Engineers and Conductors on American Railroads. Episode 3 of the Diverging Clear Podcast discusses America's policy to kill passenger rail service and subsidize other forms of transportation and businesses. I'm actually discussing more of the "Why". The typical answers doesn't suffice when you take a look at some other contributing factors and motivations. In this episode I tie some policy decisions made at the Executive level of the Federal Government starting at Richard Nixon but in all honesty he just continued to carry on previous policies but he just messed up and said it out loud.
