  • The New Tort of Domestic Violence With Darlene Rites

In this week’s episode of Divorcing Well, I chat with fellow family law lawyer, Darlene Rites, about the new tort of domestic violence that was found by an Ontario court recently in the case of  Ahluwalia v. Ahluwalia, 2022 ONSC 1303 (CanLII), https://canlii.ca/t/jmpnf.

Darlene and I discuss the importance of the Ahluwalia case and the repercussions for victims of domestic violence who want to obtain compensation from their abuser for their years of abuse.  Victims finally have a financial remedy that recognizes the damage of domestic violence on a victim.  Both Darlene and I are working with victims of abuse who want to make a claim for damages under this new tort. In addition, to practicing family law, Darlene is also a well respected mediator.

  • Attracting Lasting Love After Divorce With Roy Biancalaba

In this week’s episode of Divorcing Well, I chat with Certified Relationship Coach, Roy Biancalaba, about attracting lasting love.  After divorce, so many people fear that they will never attract love again.  Roy discusses how to attract the love that you deserve and want.  He helps clients break free from past patterns of behaviour that led to the same results in relationships over and over again.  If you have a “type”, you may learn through divorce healing that there was a reason that you were always drawn to certain types of people, and through hard work, you can learn not to repeat negative patters that caused you to settle for less than you deserved in relationships.  Roy offers a great message of hope for post-divorce listeners who are hoping to find true love.

Roy also has a great book called Relationship Bootcamp which offers a startling truth: The types of people we attract, and the quality of our intimate relationships, are a direct reflection of our relationship “fitness.” Therefore, Roy contends that we shouldn’t be concerned about where or how to find a partner. Instead, we should focus on getting ourselves into the best relationship shape of our lives, and that’s what this book is all about.
