in Part One of this two part podcast, I summarize principles of Zaydiyya and discuss the history of the rise of Bayt al-Houthi, the conflict with the State and lead-up to the civil war that sparked in March 2015. This segment presents an in-depth conversation with Dr. Omar Mujalli, from al-Abadeen, Sa'dah (former director of Health Services in Sa'adha and former Dpty. Minister of Health) and Dr. Ali Ahmed al-Dailami (former director of MoFA Diplomatic Institute in Sana'a and former Ambassador to Lebanon).
Part TWO will present a conversation with Dr. Najib Ghanem (Sana'a- Minister of Parliament for al-Islah party) and Mr. Nazeeh al-Emad (GOP legal advisor).
In this episode we are joined by Yasmine al-Qadhi (@AlqadhiYasmin) direct from Mareb City to discuss the impact of the ongoing war on IDPs across Mareb province. Yasmine also provides us with an update on the situation residents currently experience as Houthi forces launch missiles and drone strikes on residential areas. In our second segment, we are joined by Sahar Nuraddin (@ssnuraddin) in Aden, Amina Atiq (@AminaAtiqpoetry) in Liverpool, Eshraq Abd al-Ghani (@eshraqshargabi) in Malaysia & Najma Kierstead in Virginia, for a conversation on experiences of Yemenis living abroad, community engagement, construct of identity, challenges for a new generation of refugees/conflict migrants and perspectives on the current political conflict in Yemen.
As Yemenis from all political factions react to findings published by the UNSC 2140 Panel of Experts on Yemen, we discuss details of investigations published in the Finance section, such as accusations of corruption within CBY and the controversy over HSA Group. We also look at the methodology and investigation published in the IHL section this year. We are joined by our friend Khaled al-Yamani (former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former ambassador to the UN), Mustapha Noman (former Dpty. Foreign Minister, former ambassador to Bahrain, Canada, India and Spain) and Mohammed al-Shuwaiter (lawyer and IHL expert)
A conversation with Mr. Munir Saeed on 10yrs since the uprising in Yemen and current affairs. We are also joined by Nasser Arrabyee, a Sana'a-based journalist, to discuss the situation amid further escalation on all war fronts.

Our guests help us navigate expectations and complications that may arise, while Dr. Khoury helps us understand the inner-workings of US diplomacy and the challenges that lie ahead.
To commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the 'Day Of Rage' in Sana'a, and the subsequent youth-led uprising, Diwan gathered a diverse group of Yemeni figures to discuss the events leading up to the uprising, the impact on Yemen's structure of power and how the effects manifest today, six years into a devastating civil war. We are joined by : Dr. Abu Bakr al-Qirbi (former Minister of Foreign Affairs), Mr. Amr Ali Salem al-Baydh (member of the STC), Nasser Arrabyee (Sana'a-based journalist), Mr. Labib Nasher (independent activist) and Mr. Ibrahim Qatabi (Yemeni-American activist).
We received a copy of the 2021 report by the UNSC Panel of Experts on Yemen to be made public by the UN soon. Ali Mahmoud and Fernando Carvajal go through each section highlighting aspects of ongoing investigations including: corruption and money-laundering by GoY officials, the role of Mercy Flights between Muscat, Oman and Sana'a, Yemen, weapons smuggling from Iran to Houthi elements, IHL violations and the role of various actors enflaming the conflict.

This is an independent podcast dedicated to discussions on Yemeni politics, economics, security, history, culture and the arts. Ali Mahmoud joins us from Aden and Fernando Carvajal from the US. We will bring you interviews with Yemeni political figures, economic actors, activists, and journalists from various areas in Yemen, as well as interviews with Yemenis living in Europe, the US and other Arab states, We will discuss their life away from home, their activism, culture, the arts, and their engagement in local politics as well as in their bilad (country). We are knew at this, so bear with us as we work each week to bring you this new and unique project.
