Emileigh Rohn and Jean-Marc Lederman have collaborated in a new album called Venus Chariot on COP International  They initially released a powerful EP Called “Watch out” featuring remixes by EBM legend Claus Larsen AE of Leaether Strip, Tom Shear of Official Assemblage 23 and Mark Hockings of Mesh. I spoke to the darkwave  industrial duo from Baltimore, Maryland -Ego Likeness.  Taking their name from Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction novel Dune, Ego Likeness was formed in 1999 by Steven Archer and Donna Lynch.  They released their first and full-length album "Dragonfly" in 2000 which is available currently on #MetropolisRecords, followed by "Water to the Dead," in 2004 via Dancing Ferret Records. Their third album followed called "The Order of The Reptile" in 2006. Ego Likeness who's currently signed to Metropolis Records released their 4th Album, "Breedless" in 2010.  Their full-length album "When The Wolves Return" was released in 2015 and "Songs From A Dead City" in 2018. Their albums and their latest EP "Wolves" 2020 are available on Metropolis Records

Donna is also an artist and writer who has written and published numerous poems and short stories, releasing two collections of poetry: 'In My Mouth' (2000) and 'Ladies & Other Vicious Creatures' (Raw Dog Screaming Press, 2007). Her first novel includes the acclaimed "Isabelle Burning" (2008) and a novella called "Driving Through the Desert" released on Thunderstorm Books in April 2012.

Steven whose musical projects include Hopeful Machines and Stoneburner (COP International) is also an accomplished visual artist and painter who showcases his paintings, sculpture, and mixed media pieces in various galleries, stores, conventions, and venues. He is the author and illustrator of a children's book, "Luna Maris" (Imaginary Books, 2008), and the graphic novel "Red King Black Rook". They have a beautiful hairless Sphynx cat name Sophie . Musician and Artist, Steven Archer has a solo project called Stoneburner. The project’s name is taken from a weapon from the science fiction novel by Frank Herbert's  "Dune."  Stoneburner incorporates elements of experimental noise, industrial rock, ethereal, trip hop, and worldbeat.

Known as one of the founders of the darkwave/ electronic rock band, Ego Likeness and his electronica project ::Hopeful Machines:: Archer has also made a career in art and commission works, writing several books such as an illustrated version of Edgar Allen Poe's "Masque of the Red Death," which is on the preliminary ballot for the Stoker Award category for Excellence in a Graphic Novel and a children book called Luna Maris.

His new album is out now on COP International, produced and mixed by the legendary record producer John Fryer (4AD, This Mortal Coil ) called "Apex Predator".

 Among the first generation of gothic rock in Germany, Pink Turns Blue was founded in Cologne in 1985 by Mic Jogwer (Lead vocalist, lyricist and bass),  Tom Elbern (guitars) and Marcus Giltjes (drums). The band took its name after a Hüsker Dü song called "Pink Turns To Blue." Their first LP, "If Two Worlds Kiss," gave the new wave sound dark undertones, developing the sub-genre of darkwave and becoming a seminal album in the post-punk genre. Since their world tour from 2018 to 2020, the three-piece band has grown a global fan base with strongholds all over the world, including the US, Mexico, Germany, UK, and Brazil. Their single "Something Deep Inside" was used in Matthew Berkowitz’s thriller "The Madness Inside Me."

Their latest singles "You Still Mean Too Much To Me" "There Must Be So Much More" "Not Even Trying" and "So Why Not Save The World" will be available on their new album, "Tainted" which is set to be released on September 24, 2021 via OrdenRecords.  It willalso be available digitally and in two physical formats - a CD with a 16-page booklet and on black vinyl, strictly limited to 500 copies, with an 8-page booklet. I spoke to musician, producer, author and vocalist for Bella More and The Rain Within, Andy Dean.

Founded in the 1990s, Bella Morte played an essential role in the revival of Gothic Rock in the US, releasing over 9 full-length albums and EPs.  As one of the founders of Bella Morte, Andy's passion and love of all things horror has inspired him to write and publish 4 horror novels/novellas: "The Sticks" 2009, "The Third House" 2010, "All the Darkness in the World" 2011 and "No Turning Back in 2012. 

Following the success of his solo project and the album, "Atomic Eyes", The Rain Within has returned and released a new song called "Forward in Reverse" which is heavily influenced by horror films that Andy fell in love with as a child. It is driven by repetitious, haunting melodies that call back spiritually the themes from the films of Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci and John Carpenter. Lyrically, the song is about trying to mend your heart and move forward before the weight of the world kills you.

Post Punk band hailing from Columbus, Ohio, The Wake released their latest album called
Perfumes and Fripperies on Blaylox Records.  I spoke to Troy Payne, one of the founding members of the Wake  which he founded with high school buddy and guitarist of the Wake, Rich Witherspoon in 1986.

The Wake debuted their album Masked in 1993 via Cleopatra Records, "considered by many gothic rock fans as a landmark release" (Miranda Yardley, Terrorizer Magazine). Throughout their career, they have had many successful releases such as the memorable, "Sideshow,"  the AP Dance charting single, "Christine", "Nazarene" and "Nine Ways," just to name a few.
The band joined tour-dates supporting US industrial pioneers Skinny Puppy (1988), and indie-folk/dreampop trio The Innocence Mission (1989) while The Wake’s own headline shows were renowned for causing mayhem: either filling local club venues well beyond capacity, or attracting the Fire Department when excessive use of smoke machines spilled out into the streets.

Together with fellow bandmates bassist James Tramel, drummer Daniel C, Rich Witherspoon and Troy Payne, The Wake is positioned to help define a new decade of goth music with the release  of Perfumes and Fripperies, their first full-length album in nearly 25 years .
Recorded over many months in different locations and various circumstances, the album will not disappoint long time fans and new fans.  Perfumes and Fripperies  has been called "both their best album to date" while also honoring their legacy  with themes like isolation, unrequited love, madness, multiple personality disorder, purgatory, loss, and regret – the album’s lyrical content is decidedly dark and introspective and diverse.

One of the pioneers in darker electronica music is  ATTRITION. The man who has steered the band through the 40 year career, fueled by a succession of critically acclaimed albums is founder Martin Bowes. 

Formed in 1980 in Coventry, England, Attrition is influenced by a mix of punk ideology and experimental art aesthetics. They emerged as part of the early 80s UK industrial scene alongside contemporaries such as Coil, Test Department, Legendary Pink Dots, Chris and Cosey, In the Nursery, Portion Control etc.

Martin’s increasing studio production work at his studio, The Cage, has included mixes for The Damage Manual (Martin Atkins, Jah Wobble, Geordie Walker, Chris Connelly et al...), Die Form, In the Nursery, Black tape for a Blue girl, Mona Mur/En Esch and mastering for countless bands and labels, including collaborations with Anni Hogan (known for her work with Marc Almond through the 80’s) and the legendary Wolfgang Flur (ex-Kraftwerk). He contributed synths and vocals on a song on the last Pigface album, is the narrators voice on US horror series, “C for Chaos”, has written the score to US horror film G.H.O.S.T from Mutantville productions and has mastered the latest album by Pieter Nooten and Marselle Hodges called Anonymity, just to name a few.

Attrition's current single is out now called The Alibi from the upcoming  album, The Black Maria to be released this year on Two Gods label with accompanying video and remixes from Bellhead, Vaselyne, Steckdose and Follynator.

Scottish producer, author and Industrial music legend  Chris Connelly has an extensive musical career and collaboration that spans four decades which started with his first band, FiniTribe to other industrial groups such as the Revolting Cocks, Ministry,  Pigface, Damage Manual, PTP to newer collectives such as The Joy Thieves and Cocksure just to name a few. As an author, he released four books, encompassing the realms of poetry, autobiography and fictional narrative. 

His latest production and collaboration is with Monica Queen, lead vocalist of the 90s band- Thrum. The new collaboration album, written by Connelly is called The Birthday Poems, released on Jnana Records last month, a fictionalized account of the romance between Scottish personalities and poet George Mackay Brown and his muse Stella Cartwright and their friend, Stanley Roger Green. All three were prominent figures in Scottish literature and culture since the 1950s who frequented the historical Rose Street Bars of Edinburgh.

JULES MAXWELL is an Irish theatre composer, songwriter and keyboardist for the legendary-DEAD CAN DANCE (DCD). He has collaborated with lead vocalist of DCD, Lisa Gerrard on a new studio album called Burn, a seven track album produced by James Chapman via Atlantic Curve, a London-based label. Together Maxwell and Gerrard have commissioned seven films to accompany the music of the album.
