dj Smoove1967

Have you ever cried while making a mix? I had to remaster this one since I was too close to the edge like Icuras. Well, this mix did it to me this afternoon. It's been a long time getting to this point after being introduced to, learning, researching, purchasing, and practicing other genres like this but finally, at the beautiful age of 55, I think it's been worth the experience after all these years. This mix ain't for everyone, but I think those already familiar with the vibes, will hopefully enjoy it. As always, to those who've been with me on this musical journey since the MySpace Days, I appreciate you. If you dig what you hear, feel free to share with likeminded musical individuals and even those who may not be hip as my motto has been all these years: Open Your Mind To Music You May Not Be Familiar With. Peace. I hope you dig the effect I decided to use on the Teena Marie remix fa sho! Practice, Practice, Practice. Portia Monique; Tony Momrelle; Jesse Powell; J.A.E.; dj Chujo ft Brandon Yancey; Tortured Soul; Sir Soundbender ft The Beat-Trayers; Halo ft Maiya; The Layabouts ft. (Live drums are hard to mix to) Next up for the rest of the year will be my new series based on joints I used to play in the club back in the day before it got rowdy after 11:30 pm. It's a Happy Hour series of R&B cuts you're familiar with, B-Sides, and of course Remixes, you couldn't get anywhere else but visiting the club right after work on a Thursday (Ladies' Night), Friday, and Saturday night too. Soulful and Afro-House music will also be uploaded since I'm gearing up for another run in D.C. Maryland (Hyattsville as well), for the House on the Waterfront Weekender in Mid-August 11th-13th. Hope to see you there!I hope you enjoy what you hear, and if you would like to book me to perform, just hit me up at [email protected] or text at 614 949 4632 and we'll make it happen. Here are the artists/producers who made this mix possible: Had to start off with Moonchild since they are coming in April!; Kadeem Tyrell; Olu; Debra Bond (Tall Black Guy remix); Zo! & Tall Black Guy ft Darien Brockington, Muhsinah, & Phonte; Common & Tom Misch; Maverick Soul; Phife Dawg ft. Welp, since Mixcloud deleted all of my older mixes going back as far as 2009, might as well reupload them here for those who never heard them, or always wanted a download. This mix was made before my first trip to Naptown to perform for my crew New Day Entertainment Group right after I was tired of mainstream and couldn't get a $50 raise so I could spin for $325 a night. Who knew there was life after the club scene? Glad they heard me on MySpace and gave me a chance to work on "Good Music", thus the term Good Music Lives was born. Enjoy!

This mix and going forward in the 2-Step Series, I'm gonna show you where the name Smoove came from and why folk used to ask in the club:"Are you recording tonight"? This set is for the Grown Folk sippin' their favorite drink during Happy Hour and chillin' til the 9:45 pm crowd comes before a Cover Charge is asked at the door. Remember, I was a Club Dj in the beginning. We gonna get back to that for a hot minute. Cool? If you dig what you hear, feel free to download it for free, and send it to your friends, family, and especially your Aunts, and Uncles that used to Hand Dance at every event they attended. This mix is dedicated to my favorite couple in Grand Rapids, Michigan Karen & Elza, and is featuring these artists: Deniece Williams, Bobby Caldwell, Robert Palmer, Michael McDonald, Surface, S.O.S.
