The Dallas Stars are in a great position entering the final six weeks of the 2025-26 regular season. They have the second-best record in the National Hockey League, banking 88 points in 63 games (39-14-10), while currently riding a 12-game point streak (11-0-1) and boasting the league’s second-best power play. However, the Central Division is a gauntlet with the Colorado Avalanche leading the NHL with 95 points and the Minnesota Wild nipping at the Stars’ heels with 85 points (4th best in the league). It won’t get any easier as the Stars have the second-hardest strength of schedule in the NHL over their final 19 games of the season. Miro Heiskanen was the hero of the day, as he scored the game winning goal in overtime as the Dallas Stars beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 on Sunday at American Airlines Center. The Stars had rallied from a 2-0 deficit, then blew a 3-2 lead, but got the win to extend their current point streak to 12 games (11-0-1). Tyler Bertuzzi and Sam Rinzel put Chicago ahead 2-0 less than 9 minutes into the game. Nathan Bastian put Dallas on the board late in the first period with his sixth goal of the season, his third in the last five games. Mavrik Bourque and Justin Hryckowian each found the net in the third period to give the Stars a 3-2 lead, only for Connor Bedard to score a 6-on-5 extra attacker goal to force overtime. 3-on-3 hockey lasted a mere 22 seconds before Heiskanen redirected a Matt Duchene pass on the rush past goalie Arvid Söderblom to give the Stars their 11th win in their last 12 games. The Dallas Stars did not wait until Friday’s NHL trade deadline to bolster their roster. Today, GM Jim Nill acquired towering 6’8” veteran right handed defenseman Tyler Myers from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a 2027 2nd round pick and a 2029 4th round pick. In addition, Vancouver will retain 50% of Myers remaining contract, which means he will carry a $1.5M AAV.
