  • Amanda Daff & Simon Obee: Navigating A New World Of Work with Employment Innovations (EI)
Welcome to Another Episode of Decoding Purpose - The Turning Point. A series with a focus on assisting you to navigate this pandemic purposefully.
Yesterday The Job Keeper package passed parliament, with the $130 billion packages the biggest in Australia’s history - this is great news but what does that mean for an employer? How do you know if you are eligible? How do you prove that your business has lost money and when do the payments start?
In addition to that if you have a team working from home, what are the OHS obligations, and how do you manage staff morale and mental health? Is it still ethical to measure performance or set KPIS in a crisis? Finally, how can we ensure that there is still some room for fun? These are just some of the questions the Decoding Purpose team had…., and that is why we did our best to hunt down the best in the business to get a few answers for our listeners.
Today, I am excited to be having a chat with Amanda Daff and Simon Obee from Employee Innovations. Amanda is the Head of Growth and Client Strategy, and Simon is the Head of Legal & Professional Services. Employment Innovations (EI) is Australia’s leading employment solutions provider, specialising in Human Resources, Payroll, Outsourced Employment, HR technology, Employment Law & Migration and Recognition & Incentives.

  • Jules Robinson: Let's FIGUR it Out - Babies, Bodies and Bold Acts Of Brand Activism
When we reflect on turning points in our lives, some of you may reflect upon the 21st birthday, university graduation, an engagement, wedding or birth of a child. After all, these are poignant moments in the journey of life. It is fair to say that both the wedding and now pregnancy have been turning point moments for today's guest who you may have met when she graced our television screens as a participant in season six of Married At First Sight. That guest, none other than the incredible Jules Robinson.
Jules famously married Cameron Merchant in season six of Mafs, got married for real in November last year, and only last weekend announced that they are expecting a baby. When it comes to a fairy tale ending their story is undeniably one we love to love. In a podcast about purpose why not celebrate our purpose as partners, as parents and as people who support people.
That being said, in the case of Jules Robinson, along with being Australia's most loved wife, and new mum, she is also a fiercely independent purpose-driven entrepreneur on a mission to ignite a movement of body positivity with a community of women who support and celebrate other women. Her business, a beautiful and practical shape wear line known as Figur by Jules.
In today's episode, Jules and I talked about babies, body love and bold acts of brand activism. We had a candid conversation where we explored all aspects of purpose as parents (or parents to be), as people, and as socially-minded movement makers changing the world. For me personally, this was a special episode. If there is any kind of influence I want to amplify, it is this—people who use their profile to ignite positive influence to create significant social impact.

  • Dr Lisa Gadd - Managing Health From Home
Welcome to Today's episode of The Turning Point: The Decoding Purpose podcast special - helping us all to navigate this pandemic in a purposeful way.
Today, I am excited to be having a chat with Dr Lisa Gadd about how we stay healthy while locked up at home. I was lucky enough to work with Lisa a year or so back, and I can attest to the fact that she is seriously passionate about creating good health on purpose and never has that been more important than what it right now.
She personally suffered a stroke in 2014 enabling her to appreciate what it is to lose bodily function, to deal with the emotional loss of poor health, or to understand the resilience required to rebuild the mind, body, and spirit post trauma. That is why she is fiercely passionate about giving others the tools to have living health - and at this particular point in time, staying healthy is one of the best things we can do to keep our immunity pumping.
Today Dr. Lisa Gadd is an esteemed business leader and the founder of Living Health Group. She is an osteopath, fitness professional, and a nationally recognised coach and trainer within the health and fitness industry. She believes in compassionate healthcare focussing on holistic health solutions that treat all aspects of well being….and these are all the reasons why she was the perfect person to decode staying healthy at home with for today's podcast!

  • Julie Masters: Influence When it Matters Most
Welcome to today's episode of purpose in the turning points - a new series dedicated to helping you to purposefully navigate this pandemic. Today we are being joined by my friend, colleague and the influencer or influencers - the one and only Julie Masters.
Julie is Co-Founder of ODE Management, the world’s largest dedicated speaker management agency, with offices across the USA and Australia, and today is the Founder and CEO of Influence Nation. She works with business leaders and organisations to become the voice of authority in their space. She also hosts the Inside Influence podcast, that dives into the nuts and bolts of how to own your voice – and then uses it to drive a movement, a conversation, an industry or a nation.
That said, today in the context of covid-19 we will not only be getting inside influence - but will be decoding inner influence. How do we get intentional about the stories we tell ourselves? In times of crises, how do you inoculate yourself from fear? How do you make fierce decisions about what and how much information you allow into your world?
From a business perspective how do we stay informed, resourceful and open to unexpected opportunities. We are in a world where all the old rules have been turned upside down, and where the future appears more unpredictable than ever - but that still leaves room for influence. Right now there is an unparalleled opportunity for organisations and leaders to stand up and own their space to provide real, lasting value.

  • Future Crunch - Managing Your Information Diet
Welcome To The Turning Point Covid-19 Special. Today I am excited to have my business partners from Future Crunch on the podcast.
For those of you who don't know Future Crunch, we are a team of economists, musicians, psychologists, scientists, designers and artists, and we are on a mission to foster intelligent, optimistic thinking about the future. We are also firm believers that if we want to change the story of the human race, we have to change the stories we tell ourselves.
Today we will be decoding ‘The Information Diet’ within the context of the covid-19 Economy. Why? Because in a time of a global public health and economic crisis, it's easy to feel like we're drowning in a chaotic stream of news, tweets, Facebook posts, articles, and Whatsapp messages. As with everything in life, we can only truly process information through moderate input. However now, more than ever, we need to control how that information comes through to us. Today we will be asking the question - if information was food, how would you purposefully change how you consume it?

  • Danny Chiha - Your Money In The Madness
Welcome to the first edition of The Turning Point - COVID 19. A series dedicated to supporting you to navigate this pandemic purposefully.
The intention for releasing this mini-series of Decoding Purpose is simple - and it's all about our purpose (The Decoding Purpose team that is). In the last episode of Decoding Purpose, I said the following words which I will repeat today to frame up the reason Ash from Supernova Sound, Lizzy Hodgins from Basic Black Creative and I as your host - want to show up for you in this Turning Point.
I often refer to purpose as a guide to the great unknown. It is the cocoon between the caterpillar and the butterfly where the magic of transformation comes to life. Where we see what's possible (even in crises), and we move towards the change required to make that happen. Sometimes we do it by choice - BUT so often it happens through crises - the rug is pulled from underneath our feet, and we are asked to let go of what we thought defined us. Money, Power, Status...the old paradigm. Life before COVID - 19. Life before our sense of security was taken away.
When this wave hits the vulnerability is raw. After all, when you take away our health or the health of our families, we have nothing. When you take away our high paying roles, investments or security, we are nothing. When you take away our control and our belief that we are the kings or the queens of the planet, then we are reminded that we are only human. That no matter how rich, how famous or how powerful we are...our entire social paradigm can be taken down by tiny little so-called spike proteins that extend from within the core of the coronavirus to latch onto specific cells in the human body. That's all it takes to destroy a human empire. Frightening and incredibly humbling all at the same time.
BUT there is something that moves within us that can never be nothing - because it is everything. And that is our reason for being. Our legacy. Our purpose. The one thing you have that can help another human -that can provide healing for another human - or that can build hope.
In coming together Ash, Lizzy asked ourselves what can we do to help, to heal or to build hope? In that, we looked at our tools, our time (which we have more off right now) and our talents. The list included a recording studio, a sound engineer, a world-class brand stylist, a podcast host, and an incredible network of guests. And that meant we were able to share with you what we know will provide, help, healing or give you hope in these times of change. So this is our purpose - and our contribution to you is this podcast.
So how does this work? In exploring the theme of 'help, heal and build hope' I will tap into my network of incredible minds who are also on the same mission and who can use this podcast to amplify their voice during this pandemic however long it takes for us all to get through.
Unlike the standard podcast which will continue to drop every two weeks, I will be dropping these interviews as the information is available. I want you to be able to engage in the content I receive as quickly as we can turn the episodes around. At the heart of the content is one mission. To help you to navigate this pandemic purposefully and to feel just a little bit more anchored in a time that is undeniably scary for everyone.
This is also a platform for you. Please email rebecca@rebeccatapp.com if you have guest suggestions or you genuinely have a desire to decode a topic within the context of providing purpose in the pandemic.
So without further delay, let's unleash today's guest!
Daniel Chiha has over ten years of business advisory and commercial accounting experience. He commenced his career with 4 years at Crowe Horwath, started his own successful business, then joined Coca-Cola Amatil as the financial accounting manager where he led a successful team of 17 professionals. Daniel is the founding partner of Kelly+Partners Northern Beaches. He has a real passion for, and specialises in, assisting businesses to develop and execute strategies that create business viability.
Now that was Danny's official CV - and now here’s my version. I met Danny five years ago on a charity trip in Cambodia. He is one of the kindest human beings I know, who I can say with 110% confidence cares about your money way more than you do.
Professionally Danny has a gift, and his contribution is what is enabling him right now (in these times of need) to shine. This guy has an incredible ability to translate the complexity of financial management. This includes decoding government relief packages, and he provides tips on taking purposeful action and building financial resilience in these crazy, crazy times. The best part - Danny makes it so easy to understand, which is precisely what the world needs right now.
Now as you can imagine, Danny has been inundated with client calls this week - but he still managed to find a spare 40 minutes to decode finance in the turning point for the decoding purpose podcast. Danny - I am so grateful.
Welcome to Decoding Purpose Danny Chiha.

  • Ant Moorhouse: EarthTech - The New Age Of Humanist Technology
Welcome to today's episode of the Decoding Purpose Podcast.
I recorded this podcast episode precisely one month and two days ago, and at the time, I was sat on Richards Branson's private Australian island - Make Peace Island - where I interviewed today's guest. An incredible human being by the name of Ant Moorhouse. A person who you will hear a lot more about in a few minutes...but before diving in, I think it's important to say a few things about context and timing of this podcast. One that I never expected to release during a pandemic. For all of us, the world has changed.
At the time of interviewing Ant, I was pinching myself. I was feeling grateful to be on Make Peace Island, and I was also feeling happy about the state of the world. I'm more than aware that the world has a billion problems that need solving, but in the context of this event - The Earth Tech Summit - I took comfort in knowing that somehow the next generation had it covered. These young change-makers were taking action, and that there were incredible people helping them to do that - and today, we will hear more about the initiative supporting them - EarthTech. People like today's guest - represent hope in a crazy world.
At the time of the Earth Tech Summit, I had heard whispers of this new coronavirus, yet for some reason - at the time of recording this interview one month ago - the fear and anxiety had not yet surfaced. I think like so many Australians I somehow felt inoculated from a flu born in a town some 8000 kilometres away from my home. That sense of safety was ironic given that at the time of recording, I was sharing an island with people from India, Bangladesh, Kenya, Nigeria, Spain and the list goes on. I was a part of a genuinely global tribe. A tribe who would have never have come together had this event been scheduled only a few weeks later...that was BC - Before Covid-19 and now we have entered an entirely new way of life.
It's still so hard to conceive that only weeks later... All of our borders would be closed; we would have over 1000 cases of Covid 19 confirmed with the numbers accelerating. That the music, events, food and hospitality industries would be decimated and that the word 'recession - well actually depression' would slip back into anyone's vocabulary. Or that my two-year-old daughter would be sat here next to me while I write these words, as I keep her home from child care to keep my parents safe and well. How could any of this be real?
This is what I would call collective shock. And just like any shock, there are feelings of paralysis, overwhelm and uncertainty. It is a time where we have been thrown out of our bodies, our very survival has come into focus, and in moving forward, the only option we have is to ground. To stand firm in an entirely new reality where the game has changed. The rules are different and life as we knew it, is not anything like the life we now know.
So where do we begin in navigating this TURNING POINT? Is this the wake-up call humanity needed while we slept through the inevitability of a pandemic? Is this our god, the god of nature, the god of science, or a spiritual god of your understanding.....no longer waiting for change, but commanding we take action.
These are not questions that I can answer. But I can take notice. I can BE CONSCIOUS of the fact we are being asked to STOP, to SLOW down and to take STOCK - not of toilet paper - but of our identity, our influence and our impact.
After-all the only good news that has come out of this Pandemic is that with global economic activity ramping down as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, it is hardly surprising that emissions of a variety of gases related to energy and transport have been reduced. This is undeniably great for the planet - but what about you? How are you transforming in all of this? How are you dealing with the uncertainty and fear as we step into a new way of living?
When I speak about purpose, I often refer to it as the great unknown. It is the cocoon between the caterpillar and the butterfly where the magic of transformation comes to life. Where we see what's possible, and we move towards the change required to make that happen. Sometimes we do it by choice - BUT so often it happens through crises - the rug is pulled from underneath our feet, and we are asked to let go of what we thought defined us. Money, Power, Status...the old paradigm. Life before COVID - 19. Life before our sense of security was taken away.
Consider this...when you take away our health or the health of our families, we have nothing.
But there is something that this virus or any virus can never take away from us. And that is our reason for being. The one thing you have that can help another human -that can provide healing - or build hope. That is your purpose, and its relevance is more significant now that any other time in history....and why does that matter?
Because you might be scared of getting sick or family getting sick, you might be afraid of being alone or being bored. You could be afraid of losing money, assets, investments or shares. That's okay - it's okay to be frightened - but at some point you will need to make a choice, and that choice is simple. You either choose fear, or you choose love.
You have time right now. You can go within. So ask yourself...what is your gift and how can you help, heal or build hope. What is your identity, your influence or your impact? Who do you choose to be in this crises? Money will never replace human kinds desire for meaning - and that is abundant right now. How are you showing up and who are you becoming in this and because of this. To quote today's guest - we should never waste a good crisis. That guest - the incredible Ant Moorehouse.
    INTRODUCTION
Ant spent a decade in the Australian Army as a Special Forces Counter Terrorism Commander before starting a crises management business Dynamiq in 2005. Dynamiq is a 24/7 emergency evacuation, technology and consulting firm. Over the next 10 years, Ant led Dynamiq to become a truly international firm, working globally in 155 countries with $20mil+ in revenue. In 2015 Ant exited Dynamiq, selling to Insurance Australia Group.
At the time, Ant had recently returned from 4 years in Boulder, Colorado, where he had been investing in and mentoring tech-start-ups and social enterprises. Before returning to live in Australia with his wife and two young daughters - the family went on holiday to the Great Barrier Reef. It was good. But it was nowhere near as breathtaking as when Ant and his wife were at the reef 18 years prior on their Honeymoon. The damage was clear, and for Ant, this was a turning point moment where he knew it was time to take action.
And as a former member of the military taking action and engaging in a mission was second nature. THAT SAID - this time Ant knew that the mission was to save the planet and that he would need to recruit the brightest army on earth. He needed a tribe of Earth warriors armed with technology as the primary weapon.
As a result, he and co founder Brian launched - EarthTech who are a social enterprise that is supporting people to make the discoveries, create the technologies and build the companies we need to save our planet and our future. The goal is to help the world meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 - and I think in the context of COVID-19 achieving these goals has never been more significant as it is right now.
The EarthTech Challenge brings together a community of entrepreneurs, technologists, innovators, mentors, like-minded partners and of course, young changemakers from all over the world. I felt privileged to spend time with Ant, Brian and the global tribe of world changers that came together on Make Peace Island.
Like any great challenge, there was, of course, a winner who I want to make special note of today.
Safewheel are an affordable emergency medical service provider to the rural people of Bangladesh. They have created environment-friendly mini electric tricycle ambulances that provide affordable ambulance and doorstep medical service to villagers.
I think it's fair to say then when Safewheel won the Earthtech challenge no one realised how significant supporting medical services would become. Since then Safewheel has stepped up to the demands of Covid 19 and this week EarthTech and Safewheel are launching a SafeWheel crowdfunding campaign. With $50k Safewheel can positively impact 12million people in Bangladesh via education, distribution of COVID-19 supplies and medical services. For more info jump on https://earthtech.io/and reach out to Ant.
So now, without further delay, grab your cup of green tea, coffee, wine - whatever it is. Maybe change rooms for those of you at home in self-isolation, find a plant, open a window and connect with the Earth as a salute to our home. Today more than ever, our life here on earth should be celebrated - and our purpose matters more than ever.

  • Sarah Nally: Evolve - Pioneering In A World Of Wonder
When today's guest came bounding through the doors of the supernova sound recording studios here in Surry Hills I somehow knew that I had landed on a date with destiny. Or shall I say a double date with both Wonder and Wander. Why? Because I knew a soul sister had just walked in.
To Clarify….todays is a guest is all of things you want from a business podcast. A respected thought leader, an entrepreneur, a strategic leader, an innovators and a person whose black book features the names of some of the most revered entrepreneurs, speakers and authors all over the world.
Yet at the same time….she has boldly stepped out of the spiritual closet. She’s not ashamed of crystal infused call outs to the universe as a way of manifesting magic in business. She does not silence her magic nor quieten her sage….and that I freaking LOVE because today that is exactly what this world needs to change, to shift and to evolve in this great turning point. Her name…..Sarah Nally otherwise known as the woman of wonder.
Some of you would know Sarah as the Co-founder of Australia’s most innovative event series ‘Wired for Wonder’ for CommBank, Tropical Biz Retreat ‘Nurture Her’, online shoe business ‘Sienna Baby’, creative consultancy ‘Wonder and Wander’. At the heart of her journey as both an intrepreneur (working within corporate organisations) and an entrepreneur is the idea that we walk with purpose, while shots of awe light fireworks from our eyes. She is a firm believer in the ‘Wonder Mindset’ and assists CEOS and entrepreneurs to step into their power and into the work required to ignite their highest potential.
Sarah is also a queen of intuitive and human centric innovation….in particular design thinking - and in our chat we even looked how we can use design thinking to decode purpose. Now that was fun! While on the subject of design thinking and innovation at the time recording this podcast Sarah had just accepted a brand new role as the Head of Communications and Change at National Australia Bank. I can't wait to see how this role evolves when charged with a wonder rocket like Sarah.
Some of the touch points we covered off today include:
    • How people can break through with wild ideas and find their purpose without leaving their corporate jobs - and why that is exactly what you should do.
    • We decoded the connection between wonder and purpose
    • We looked at why the most powerful thought leaders influencer with purpose.
    • We looked at the intersection between our spiritual lives and our working lives.
    • The purpose of parenting and to add a little dash sparkle we unlocked why your glitter never needs to be litter.

So without further delay, kick back, add a dash of glitter to your beverage….but I know that is a podcast that is going to make you sparkle. I am so excited to be introducing the queen of all of things wonder - Sarah Nally.

  • Peter Baines: Operation Purpose - Epic Leadership In The Turning Points
Welcome to Episode Two, Season Two of The Decoding Purpose Podcast.
I'm going to kick off today's podcast with a quote by Steve Jobs that I love.
You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.
The reason I bring up this quote is that when I interviewed today's guest, I suddenly felt conscious of the fact that I was in one of those ‘looking backwards’ moments. That the person sitting there across from me in the studio was not only an influential person but a person who influenced my career in ways I could have never anticipated upon meeting them.
Why is that you may ask? I have spent most of my career working alongside some of the world's best thought leaders. They all had influence, but there were a few that also created epic social impact. Today's guest is one of those people. I first met Peter Baines in my early twenties and his presence in the formative years of my career in the speaking industry, was in looking back one of the main influences in my life leading me to my passion for understanding purpose driven influence. The kind that changes the world.
Pete's story also happens to be jaw dropping! Why? Because investigating homicides, leading international teams into scenes of crisis and disaster is not your typical path to becoming a speaker or business consultant. Then again, Pete learnt about leadership on the front line. Where it matters most. He worked on the ground after the 2002 Bali Bombing and the 2004 Boxing Day Thailand Tsunami where his life changed forever. This was the turning point that ignited Pete's purpose - The creation of Hands Across The Water, a charity on a mission to provide children in Thailand with a life of choice.
Fifteen years after starting the charity he now spends much of his time helping other charity leaders through The Growth Project and advises business on how they can and indeed should benefit from their engagement with their community partners through corporate social responsibility programs.

  • Natalie Dean-Weymark & Rebecca Tapp: The Art of Purpose Driven Public Relations
Welcome to the first episode of Decoding Purpose for 2020!
I hope you all had a fantastic break over the Christmas and New Year. For many here in Australia the holiday season was one we will never forget for all of the wrong reasons. The reality is that the fires have been burning since September and they continue to wreak havoc as the worst in recorded history. Our thoughts, love and condolences go out to all of you who have been personally affected by the fires. Our hearts go out to the staggering 1 billion animals are now estimated dead in Australia’s fires. Finally, a big thank you to the firies in Australia and all over the world who have bravely defended our land.
So today, I am launching season two of the Decoding Purpose Podcast and well before any fires started at the end of last year, I decided to theme this year's podcast around ‘Turning Points’. Little did I realise at the time that Australia was about to face one of the most significant turning points in recorded history. A turning point related to a planetary tipping point - and a tipping point that is related to every little decision we make as individuals every day.
So today we will be diving into the theme for 2020 and decoding why Turning points are so significant in a journey of purpose. I will be sharing my thoughts, my ideas and the big questions I have pondered upon with regards to why purpose is so often found in crises and how we can embrace by choice rather than crises.
In the second half of the podcast I will also be interviewing Natalie Dean-Weymark.
Nat and her husband Luke are the cofounders of compass creative. They are also partners in business and life, with a combined marketing and PR career of over 20 years. Like so many purpose-driven entrepreneurs these loved their work but felt something was missing. Their turning point - a holiday that gave them time to reflect on the contribution they wanted to make in the world. As a result, the Compass Creative studio was born.
Compass is a boutique Marketing and PR consultancy that is trying to do things differently. They work only with brands they love, and have made an intentional decision to do good work, for brands that do good in the world.
In today's conversation with Nat we explored.
    • The art of purpose-driven pr.
    • How to create authentic brand connections.
    • The art of purpose-driven storytelling
    • How to get brand activism right...and so much more.

So, grab your coffee, or if your like anything like me and on a post-holiday cleanse - then grab your detox tea and get ready for episode one - season two. Decoding Purpose - The Turning Point. Welcome to the podcast.
