From simple +1 swords to all-powerful artifacts, your average DnD player is going to encounter a lot of magical bits and bobs throughout their adventures and your average DM must create and manage far more. But just how rare is that ring of protection? What’s statistically better, fire protection or cold protection? Well, we’ve done a deep dive on all the items currently available (as of June 2021) in 5e from official D&D sources and compiled them up for you. So, if you’re a DM looking for tips on his party’s next cool bit of loot or a player trying to explain that a damage immunity isn’t that busted then stick around as we go through everything you need to know.

A SPELLCASTER'S BEST FRIEND!

Partway between a servant and a magical pet, in dnd 5e, a familiar shares a magical bond with their summoner and is often an integral part of their lives as they master the arcane arts. In 5e D&D a little animal companion seems simple but can have deceptively deep applications. Pick your favorite critter from the pet shop as we go through the find familiar spell and everything you need to know.

Check out the full Reborn 5e guide here: https://www.skullsplitterdice.com/blogs/dnd/reborn-5e-guide

Death isn’t the handicap it used to be, and you can still haul your dead carcass off to the next adventure as a reborn! Newly introduced in Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft, 5e players can customize the undead monstrosity of their dreams and unleash them into their next campaign. Rather than specifically ghosts, zombies, or skeletons, reborn cast a wide net over any sort of not-dead you can come up with. You could be raised by necromancy, cursed to walk the earth, a resurrection gone wrong, or a spiritual husk with some serious adventure-based unfinished business. Dig your way out of your grave and avoid the angry villagers as we go through everything you need to know.

Check out the full Dhampir 5e guide here: https://www.skullsplitterdice.com/blogs/dnd/dhampir-5e-guide

While a vampire is far too powerful to put into the character’s hands as a playable race, dhampirs fit the power level just fine with all the style, black eyeliner, and edgy fangs you could want. Dhampirs have been stalking DnD for quite some time, sometimes as monsters, sometimes as playable characters, but finally with the release of Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft we have the opportunity to play them in 5th edition. Grab your darkest and broodiest coat and a hunk of some very raw and bloody steak as we go through everything you need to know.

Check out the full Deck Of Many Things guide here: https://www.skullsplitterdice.com/blogs/dnd/the-deck-of-many-things-5e

This innocuous deck of cards has had countless incarnations, starting all the way back in the very first Grayhawk supplement for 1st edition D&D. And while it has gone through various changes it has remained true to its core concept of throwing a big pile of chaos into a stale campaign. What does the deck do? How does it actually work? Pick a card if you dare as we go through everything you need to know.

Check out the full Multiclassing guide here: https://www.skullsplitterdice.com/blogs/dnd/multiclassing-5e

5e D&D has a plethora of options for you to choose from when making a new character, but what if they aren't enough? What if you want to don a paladin's armor while strumming a bardic lute? Or what if you want to channel the might of your god, while also transforming into a giant eagle? Multiclassing allows you to remix the existing classes into a hero all your own, it takes a few extra steps and a little work, but you'll create something that's synergistic and utterly unique (or potentially a broken mishmash). Grab your #2 pencils and your character sheets as we walk you through everything you need to know.
