  • Episode 50 - Managing your teen & their anxiety through divorce with Doctor Jodi

In this episode, I talked to Dr. Jodi, a psychotherapist and author who helps teenagers deal with anxiety. We discussed how anxiety is a normal part of life and how it affects different people. We also talked about how parents can help their children during a divorce when they don't have all the answers. Dr. Jodi suggests waiting until you know more before talking to your kids about the divorce.

She also advised parents to spend time with each child individually, validate their feelings, and help them make sense of the situation. We talked about the importance of modelling confidence and not sharing overly positive feelings on social media if it might hurt the kids. Dr. Jodi offers resources on her website to help people dealing with divorce and anxiety.

Overall, our conversation focuses on the significance of empathy and understanding in helping children cope with anxiety during divorce.

  • Episode 49 - Rediscovering yourself after domestic Violence with Holly Caruthers

In this episode of the "Do Divorce Right" podcast, I had the privilege of hosting Holly Carruthers, a domestic violence survivor, coach, and guide. We shared our personal journeys from surviving abusive relationships to discovering empowerment and healing.

Holly shared her experience surviving domestic violence and helping others. I also shared my journey of self-improvement and finding happiness. In summary, our conversation is focused on seeking help, finding strength, and breaking free from abuse.

For women preparing to leave abuse, the podcast recommends starting with self-safety. Techniques like body work, affirmations, and better sleep routines help. Positive words gradually boost a sense of safety. Our discussion ends by urging listeners not to compare journeys and to be open to different healing tools.

I'll also tell you about my experience with Tina Tower, an incredible business mentor. Guess what? I was actually chosen to join Tina for a business launch, and I can't wait to fill you in on that.

During our chat, I'll dive into a fear-setting exercise that Tim Ferriss introduced me to. It's been a game changer. As I reflect on my journey, I've come to understand how I've been keeping my divorce coaching business from reaching its full potential due to my own fears. I've grappled with feeling like an imposter and worrying about my ex-husband's reaction. But let me tell you how confronting these fears head-on, coupled with the fear-setting exercise, has truly transformed things for me.

I'm hoping my story might encourage you to think about your own fears and try out this exercise. Let's dive in.

  • Episode 47 - When asset division drags on

Welcome back everyone to another episode of the Do Divorce Right podcast! Today, I want to dive into what you can do if your divorce process or asset division has hit a roadblock due to economic challenges. The current landscape is a mix of rising interest rates and falling house prices in some markets, creating a challenging situation. You might find yourself unable to sell your home or dealing with assets that have lost value.

Since the situation won't resolve immediately and you're not in control of the timing, I'm here to offer guidance. I've put together four pieces of advice to help you navigate this situation. It's important to remember that you're not just dealing with assets – you might feel stuck in a holding pattern with your marriage or relationship. This situation could last for a couple of years, and I understand how tough that can be. So, if you find yourself in a situation where you must maintain contact with your ex due to non-saleable assets or if you struggle with having little to no visibility into your financial situation for the foreseeable future, this episode is for you.

I'll share some insights on how to maintain your sanity and navigate this uncertain path, even if it feels like there's no end in sight. I understand how challenging your situation is, and I'm here to support you.

  • Episode 46 - Becca's random ramblings

I'm back with another episode of the “Do Divorce Right” podcast! This week, I wanted to share some of my thoughts on health and wellness. I've been listening to a lot of podcasts and reading articles about this topic lately, and I've been thinking a lot about what it means to be healthy for me and my family.

I've realised that I'm no longer interested in setting goals around weight loss or looking differently. Instead, I want to focus on brain health and holistic wellness. This means taking care of my physical body, of course, but it also means taking care of my mental health, my social connections, and my relationships.

This episode is just a bit of insight into how I’m currently thinking about health and wellness, and the challenges that we face in trying to make healthy choices.

I’d love to hear if any of this resonates with you too!
