It had been 400 years since God had spoken audibly to his people Israel

 

Fear in Greek = Phobeo

Means to fear, to withdraw, flee, or avoid

 

Fear in Hebrew = Yirat  

1) To draw away from OR

2) Revere in awe, to be drawn toward

 

Five Reasons to “Not Be Afraid”

1. We are His People - Isaiah 43:1-2

 2. The Lord Goes With Us in Life - Deuteronomy 31:6

 3. The Lord is our Strength and Help - Isaiah 41:10, John 16:33

 4. The Lord Replaces Fear with Peace - Philippians 4:6-7

 5. The Power of God Destroys Fear - 2 Timothy 1:7

Mary responded in awe rather than fear, and we should do the same.
