Do Stoics
This time an interview with the passionate Brittany Polat! You can definitely say she is into the Stoics, that's for sure. Writer of two books: Tranquility parenting (sounds too good to be true) and Journal like a Stoic.
Co founder of Stoicare : a volunteer-run charity that promotes Stoicism as a philosophy of care and wellbeing. They offer resources, events, and a gathering space for all Stoics who care about other people and our planet (check their website!).
Contrary to some common misconceptions, Stoicism has always been a philosophy of care: care for the truth, care for other people, care for the self, and care for the world we live in. This ideal of active engagement in the world informs our approach to life. As Stoics, we proactively work toward flourishing for ourselves and others.
They help you meet each of these challanges:
We also talk about the 4 C's: a simple equation to help you maintain inner peace in the midst of difficult situations:
character + cosmos + control = choice
We break down this equation and see how you can apply it to your own life.
The catch: once you realize that you don't have to get upset when something upsetting happens, you gain a new sense of control over your emotions.
Sooo.... be patient with yourself, and don't expect to become a brand new person overnight. But over time, you will create more space for positive emotions like enjoyment, goodwill, and cherishing others.
