Yesterday we talked about the importance and impact of having goals. Today, let's spend a little time talking about where our goals come from. Goals can many times come from our fears. We don't want to fail or let others down. Goals can come from our hopes. We have a picture of positive change for our futures. Goals can come from our confidence. We have confidence in our ability to do something and so we set a goal to do that thing or those things. The one thing they all have in common, no matter where they come from, is that they are always future facing. Our experiences help inform and shape our goals, and so our goals can change over time. It may be because we obtain a goal, or it may be because our priorities, or beliefs shift.
I have several goals, as I am sure most of you do as well. However, I have two goals that help shape my daily actions and interactions. My first goals to love and serve by sharing love, mercy, and wisdom. The second is to inspire positive change in myself and others. Both require me to think, learn, develop. and grow. These goals are driven by hope, and also my enjoyment of helping others and my joy of learning in order to share with others and apply things to improve my own quality of life.
If you take some time to understand what motivates you and what aligns with your future self, it will help to inform your goals and assure they are aligned with your future idea self and state of being.

It's important for us to have goals in all areas of our live. Goals around how we want to treat others and how we want to influence others, are very important considerations. We can choose to unintentionally repeat negative patterns. or we can intentionally choose to live the life of our dreams. We must envision our goals in order to move toward them.

Let's Talk About Giving From your Heart. The short is we all have something to give and sometimes we are stopped by insecurities, wondering what others may think or how they might receive something. Maybe we think something is not yet perfected enough to share. Why not use our heart as the measure for sharing and giving. Is what we have to offer coming from a good place, from our heart. If so, why not share it with others that might benefit from it? Be courageous, be bold and share. Someone may just need and be waiting for the thing that only you can share. And we can get practice at sharing what we have to offer.

I'm often asked for my professional opinion or perspective. And as far back as I can remember, I have been an observer of people, interactions, and processes. Probably a good skill set to have when you are the youngest child in a large family! Many times I make mental observations and have incorrectly assumed that others make those same "obvious" observations. However, over the years it's become apparent that what's obvious to one person, isn't always obvious to another. That's why varied experiences, varied frames of reference, diversity, and inclusion are important. When we take time to help others see from a different perspective, it can help with understand, solutions, and positive forward progress. So, the next time you make an observation about something, take take some time to understand it, and if it might broaden the understanding or perspective of those around you, share it! Your unique perspective, is unique. It is part of your superpower. What you observe and the details you take in are not always obvious to others. Take the time to share your observations in safe and receptive settings. Sometimes you may need to be a bit more forceful in sharing some important information. Know that sharing may just be the missing piece in a puzzle or the next thing needed to make correction, progress or positive impact.

Let's talk a little bit about focusing on the Outcome. Outcomes are important, however, sometimes we can find ourselves more focused on the out put or an action versus the intended value that we should be bringing. Let me give you an example. There was an individual who worked in production and was very fast at his work. He was so good, he was given a special project high priority project to do. He used his regular methodology to do the work, and everyone was amazed at the speed of his productivity. When it came time to inspect all the outcome of his work, it turned out that all the work had to be redone. the project was put together backwards and unable to be used in the next level of production work!
The focus had been on the ouput and action, instead of the outcome. The outcome matters and not only can we not lose sight of the goal, we need to check in along the way to ensure our actions are still aligned with the goal. Sometimes the goal may change. Producing a great typewriter likely has little value or relevancy in an era of computers and smartphones. So, when planning for progress, keep the goal and outcome in mind.
Today is the final day of our November Challenge. I hope you have found it to be a beneficial boost for your day. Let's finish strong - Compliment yourself, spend time in gratitude, spend time focusing on your goals, give someone a compliment or express some gratitude, and celebrate you!

This is always a busy time of year for me and I am sure for many of you. And while there is not a convenient time to be under the weather, this is an especially inconvenient time. However, I found myself this at less than 100% over the holidays, I'd say less than 50%. So, I was faced with the importance of showing up and the importance of rest, a familiar dilemma. While I chose rest, for the most part, I found myself a bit disappointed about the circumstances changing plans. However, taking a little of my own advice, I looked for the opportunity in my new circumstances.
Certainly there was time to rest. There was also time to accept the help of others, who appreciated the opportunity to help. There was time to think, evaluate, plan, and mentally create. All of those things are beneficial for forward momentum. It's helpful to see the new opportunities that present themselves in unexpected circumstances. It is also a good reminder that, thought it sounds contradictory, we should "expect the unexpected" as a strategy to being prepared to make the most of any circumstance.
We are nearing the end of our November challenge. Let's finish strong by complimenting yourself daily, spending 2 minutes in gratitude, 5 minutes of goal focus, compliment or show appreciation to someone else, and celebrate you.

Don't Forget about the November challenge. Let's do the following five things daily: Compliment yourself, two minutes of gratitude, five minutes of goal focus, give someone a compliment or express gratitude toward them, celebrate you!
Lets talk about your forward momentum being positively impacted by help from others. The reality of success is that as much solo work as we must put in, success is not a solo endeavor. Our success is aided by others. Sometimes that help looks like in-person one on one instruction, sometimes it looks like a sponsor providing an opportunity, sometimes it looks like wisdom received from a hero in a book or in our own history. The key is to recognize and accept the help. Being grateful is a plus too!
Take time to evaluate when people are taking time to add value to your skill set or knowledge base. They don't have to do this, but they have chosen to help provide some ease to your path forward. There is a time to figure things out yourself - that time is when you are not able to get an understanding and answer otherwise.
Accepting help from others is a sign of cortical thought, good time management, and maturity that comes from experience. It is important to put in the work of learning and growth. It is also important to recognize when it is best to accept help that will maintain your forward momentum!

We often need to find a path to get along with people who we may not be aligned with in terms of our thoughts, beliefs, and values. When in misalignment take inventory of why the misalignment exists and how important it is. Also, consider that we all have the free will to express ourselves and to make decisions for ourselves. Sometimes we must agree to disagree respectfully, and focus on our commonalities. Getting along is about seeing the bigger picture of the value of peace. Getting along is not about diminishing who we are or compromising, it is about understanding that we can have differences and we can still live and act respectfully.
