Gimbab might be one of the most ordinary foods in Korea. But it has come a long way from Korean lunchboxes and picnic tables.
In this episode, we take a closer look at the Korean rice roll that has recently become a global food phenomenon, from Trader Joe's viral frozen gimbab to its appearance in KPop Demon Hunters. But there's much more to gimbab than the classic roll you may already know.
I'll introduce three very different kinds of gimbab: fresh and trendy cucumber gimbab, the unusual and fascinating Chungmu gimbab with its story, and my personal favorite gimbab.
Along the way, we'll talk about why gimbab is such a familiar part of Korean everyday life, where Chungmu gimbab came from, and why there are so many different ways to fill a single roll of rice and seaweed.
So, if you like Korean food, or you simply want to know why gimbab is suddenly everywhere, this episode is for you!
