Peter Stangel Bio:

Peter Stangel of Aiken, SC, joined the US Endowment in April 2010. An ecologist by training, Peter received a B.S. in Biology from Furman University and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. Previously, he was with National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, most recently as Director of Science and Evaluation. With the Foundation, he also served as Eastern and Southeastern Regional Director and Neotropical Migratory Bird Initiative Director. Peter has extensive experience building corporate conservation partnerships and has worked with Walmart, Shell Oil Company, ConocoPhillips, and Southern Company, among others. He has more than 20 publications in the technical literature and nearly 200 in the popular magazines.

Carsten Henningsen Bio:

Carsten leads the Advisor Team and serves on the Investment Team, where he has cultivated long-term relationships with multiple generations of Progressive’s clients. He founded Progressive in 1982, focusing on the emerging social and environmental investing field. In 1999, he led the launch of Portfolio 21, a global equity strategy seeking companies with improved environmental sustainability. Carsten has served on the advisory boards of The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment, 1000 Friends of Oregon Foundation, the Ecotrust Council, and the Center for Institutional Courage. He was also a founding director of a nonprofit with programs that include climate education in schools and a reforestation initiative nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Carsten graduated from the University of Puget Sound and Nyenrode, The Netherlands School of Business.

Best known for his ability to rethink climate problems and develop solutions that benefit both the economy and the environment, he has been instrumental in creating more than a dozen organizations that play a critical role in Canada’s transition to a net-zero economy, including Canadian Climate Institute, the Institute for Sustainable Finance, Farmers for Climate Solutions, Efficiency Canada and The Transition Accelerator. His focus at Ivey Foundation is the Economy and Environment program, which provides funding to these net-zero focused organizations, among others. He also liaises with government, industry, ENGOs and the business community to ensure Canada achieves net-zero by 2050 while remaining economically competitive.

An engaging and lively spokesperson, Dr. Lourie has a unique ability to translate complex issues into timely and actionable information in both print and broadcast interviews alike and has been interviewed by most major Canadian news outlets. Dr. Lourie is also an experienced and in demand speaker, and has spoken at events such as Global Salmon Initiative’s COP26 Panel, The Trottier Symposium and the 2021 Calgary Climate Symposium, where he gave the keynote address.

Erin Borla Bio:

Erin Borla is the Executive Director and Trustee of The Roundhouse Foundation, and has worked in non-profit organizations that support rural communities through the arts and creative economies for the past 17 years. Her dedication to supporting rural spaces through listening, collaborating, and open and honest sharing of ideas helps her elevate community partners throughout her work. Borla holds a BS in Agriculture from Oregon State University and a Masters of Tourism Administration from The George Washington University. She has served organizations like Oregon State University – Cascades Campus, Sisters Parks & Recreation District, Central Oregon Regional Solutions Committee, Oregon 4 H Foundation, and others. She has served as a Trustee for the Sisters, Oregon based Roundhouse Foundation since 2014 and most recently stepped in as the organizations first Executive Director at a time of rapid growth for the Foundation.

The Roundhouse Foundation supports innovative problem solving and creative solutions in four programmatic areas including arts and culture, environmental stewardship, education and social services throughout rural and tribal communities in Oregon.

When she isn’t exploring Oregon’s unspoiled beauty, Erin enjoys spending time with her family, pets and reading.

Lauren Forman Bio:

Lauren joined the Jubitz Family Foundation in 2019 to provide administrative management. She enjoys building the structure behind the action – freeing staff and consultants to fulfill the mission better.
