Dan Cushman, M.D., is board-certified in Sports Medicine and Physical
Medicine & Rehabilitation, and specializes in the care of musculoskeletal injuries
in both athletes and non-athletes, electrodiagnostics, musculoskeletal
ultrasound, concussions, and endurance sports-specific injuries with a particular
interest in runners, cyclists, swimmers, and triathletes. His conservative approach
revolves around using exercise as medicine and avoiding medications whenever
possible.
He completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in Chicago, IL
at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (Northwestern University), where he
served as chief resident, then completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the
University of Utah. Dr. Cushman’s research interests include sports epidemiology,
musculoskeletal ultrasound, and acupuncture dry needling in the treatment of
musculoskeletal disorders. He is a team physician for the Salt Lake City Bees (LA
Angels’ AAA minor league affiliate) and covers several University of Utah sporting
events.
Outside of work, he is active in endurance sports with his wife and has 3 young
children.
