Keith Cummings, DO is currently a non-operative Sports Medicine Fellow at the University of Utah. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT where he served as chief resident. Dr. Cummings’ clinical interests include diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound procedures, acute musculoskeletal injuries, overuse injuries caused by biomechanical dysfunction, sideline sports coverage, and facilitating the return to sport for athletes of all sports & skill levels. He enjoys hiking, running, and skiing in Utah’s beautiful mountains, climbing, and playing guitar in his free time.

Dr. Gee is Board Certified in Primary Care Sports Medicine and Emergency Medicine who focuses on the treatment of non-operative musculoskeletal conditions at the University Hospital, South Jordan Health Center, and the University Orthopedic Center. He is a member of the teaching faculty at the University Hospital and educates resident physicians and medical students through clinical teaching rounds and formalized didactic sessions. He is Board Certified in Sports Medicine and treats a number of musculoskeletal, neurologic, pulmonary, cardiac, and metabolic issues surrounding athletes and active patients. He is involved in the core faculty of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship and helps educate Sports Medicine Fellows and resident physicians in clinical settings and through formal didactics.

Dr Gee is heavily involved in sports medicine coverage and currently is a Team Physician for the US Speed Skating team and is the Medical Director for the High Performance Center at the Utah Olympic Oval. He is the Head Team Physician for the Salt Lake City Stars, the G-League affiliate of the Utah Jazz. He has also provided medical support for the Tour of Utah. He is the Medical Director for the Salt Lake City and South Jordan Marathons and serves as the attending team physician for Copper Hills High School and Jordan High School. He has served as the Chief Medical Officer for the Nitro Circus World Games and Dew Tour Summer and Winter competitions.

Dr Gee enjoys working with active people who are trying to improve their health. He enjoys being outdoors riding bikes, camping, skiing and playing with his family.

Dr. Nick Monson, Assistant Professor, (clinical) is a board certified primary care sports medicine specialist within the Orthopedic Department of the University of Utah. Dr. Monson specializes in evaluation and treatment of spine, shoulder, elbow, hand, hip, knee and foot and ankle issues. He also has special interest in concussion management and treatment of chronic tendon issues. Dr. Monson utilizes ultrasound for diagnosis as well as for guidance of injections allowing for rapid assessment and treatment. He also specializes in performing spinal injection procedures using fluoroscopy.

Dr. Monson graduated Magna Cum Laude from Utah State University in Exercise Science and then attended medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa where he earned multiple academic awards. He completed residency at the University of Utah in Family Medicine followed by a fellowship in Sports Medicine also at the University of Utah. Dr. Monson serves as a team physician for the US ski team, University of Utah Athletics as well as multiple local high schools and remains active in event coverage throughout the community.

Dr. Monson grew up overseas in Japan, England and Germany following his Dad who was a teacher and coach. He learned a passion for a wide spectrum of sports and human performance and remains active in athletics of all types. His special interest lies in keeping high level athletes, weekend warriors and those that sometimes enjoy watching sports at the top of their game.

Dan Cushman, M.D., is board-certified in both Sports Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and specializes in the care of musculoskeletal injuries in both athletes & non-athletes, musculoskeletal ultrasound, electrodiagnostics, and endurance sports-specific injuries with a particular interest in runners, cyclists, swimmers, and triathletes. His conservative approach revolves around using exercise as medicine and avoiding medications whenever possible.

He serves as the team physician for the University of Utah Track & Field and Cross-Country teams and is also the team physician for the University of Utah Swimming and Diving teams. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in Chicago, IL at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (Northwestern University), where he served as chief resident, then completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Utah. Dr. Cushman’s research interests include sports epidemiology, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and acupuncture dry needling in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.

Outside of work, he is active in endurance sports with his wife and has 3 young children.

Dr. Chalmers is a member of the faculty at the University of Utah within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He focuses on the care of all shoulder and elbow problems, from young athletes to shoulder arthritis. His practice includes minimally invasive arthroscopy, ligament and tendon repair, and joint replacement. As a former coach and division I athlete, Dr. Chalmers knows the importance of getting back on the field. He sees patients at the University Orthopaedic Center, the South Jordan Health Center, and the Farmington Health Center. He serves as the team physician for Salt Lake City Bees triple-A baseball team and the University of Utah baseball team. He also serves as a team physician for the Utah Jazz.

Dr. Chalmers graduated magna cum laude as a dual major in Biology and Biophysical Chemistry at Dartmouth College. He attended medical school at Columbia University in New York City, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Chalmers completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he received multiple teaching and research awards. He completed his fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at Washington University in Saint Louis.

Dr. Chalmers is a native of Portland, Oregon. He enjoys hiking and skiing with his wife, who is an oncologist at Huntsman Cancer Institute.
