Listener Questions (45:25) – I am curious if there has been any research regarding the woman in a state of postpartum amenorrhea, and whether their hormone profile and preferences in a mate are more similar to a woman on or off contraceptives?
Many women do not begin to cycle until 1 or 2 years, or even more, after birth, and my understanding is that this is more common in traditional societies. I'm not sure that it's "normal" for a woman to cycle throughout her childbearing years. It seems more likely that she would usually be either pregnant or in a state of lactational amenorrhea, becoming pregnant again shortly after her fertility returns. Even if a woman isn’t using contraception, is she likely to have fertility cycles very often through her childbearing years?
