0:09 Introduction to Back Pain 5:05 Understanding Pain Types 9:11 Self-Management Techniques 13:03 Treatment Options Explored 16:15 Final Thoughts on Back Pain
Backpack creates a lot of anxiety in my health coaching clients because it's debilitating and we often catastrophize the pain into future, fearing that we won't be able to function, earn a living, and do our daily pleasurable activities.
The good news is that most back pain doesn't need surgery and I categorize it here into 3 classes: inflammation, soft tissue, and degenerative. I'll discuss the ways I approach management with my clients, where I refer them, and how we gauge progress.
A great book on the topic is TAKE BACK CONTROL, written by a spine surgeon.
The conversation evolves to address the complex nature of back pain management, considering alternative therapies like acupuncture, massage, and supplements. I emphasize the critical difference in treatment outcomes based on patient belief and engagement with these therapies. By the end of this episode, I hope to equip listeners with valuable insights to empower them toward a proactive approach in managing their back health. Sharing this knowledge can be transformative not only for those feeling pain but also for those seeking guidance in their health journeys. For those looking for ongoing support, I invite you to connect with me further for personalized health coaching aimed at healthy aging.
