Bob Sham and Angela get in one last comedy for our April theme “Awkward Laughter” just under the wire right before we start Micheal Mann May. We picked a slightly deeper cut in the spoof farce oeuvre with the Amy Heckerling film that followed up her iconic “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”. We’re talking about the gangster spoof from 1984 called “Johnny Dangerously” starring Micheal Keaton, Marilu Henner, Joe Piscopo, Peter Boyle, Danny Devito and more. Actually you can watch this on HBO Max or “Max” or whatever the hell they call it now.

Bob Sham and Angela get in a bit more of our “Awkward Laughter” April theme with one we remember fondly from our childhoods. We’re discussing the 1991 Top Gun spoof “Hot Shots!” Starring Charlie Sheen, Valeria Golino, Cary Elwes, Jon Cryer and a legendary performance by Lloyd Bridges. Does it hold up? Let us know in the comments.

Bob Sham and Angela truck on with the, barely there, April movie theme of “Awkward Laughter” with their second farcical yuck-fest discussion on the cult hit parody flick “National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon 1” starring Emilio Estavez, Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Curry, Jon Lovitz, Kathy Ireland & William Shatner. There are so many star studded cameos in this movie that it feels like this is Hollywood’s most supported movie ever. Dated but not without some hearty laughs. Hear Bob and Angela talk all about it.

Bob Sham and Angela went to their local independent movie theater to get away from reality and bear witness to Ari Aster’s newest film “Beau is Afraid” starring Joaquin Phoenix, Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Parker Posey and Patti Lupone. What a trip this was. We discuss it with no major spoilers.

Bob Sham and Angela FINALLY get to their intended monthly theme now that we’re a little over halfway thru April. The theme is “Awkward Laughter” and we revisit the farcical slapstick classic “The Naked Gun” from 1988 directed by David Zucker and starring Leslie Nielsen, Priscilla Presley, OJ Simpson, George Kennedy, Ricardo Montelban & Reggie Jackson. Movies like this used to actually do pretty well at the box office, and we loved it when we were kids, but how does this movie hold up today? Hear us tell it.

Bob Sham and Angela go back to where the hell they belong (the movie theater) and soak in the new Dracula movie, "Renfield" by Chris McKay and starring Nicholas Holt and Nicolas Cage. Never has a movie been so average that also held something so brilliant. Yeah, dawg. Nicolas Cage Dracula is IT.
