  • Meet the Bullmastiff!

Meet the Bullmastiff Dog! This large breed dog was developed in Britain by crossing the English Mastiff and the Olde English Bulldog. Its purpose was to assist gamekeepers by guarding estates keeping the game safe from poachers. Apparently, the Mastiff wasn't fast enough so it was bred with the now-extinct Olde English Bulldog which was known to be very fierce. The Mastiff would chase down intruders and pin them to the ground.

We loved meeting Chloe and her family who told us about the day-to-day life with the amazing and sweet Bullmastiff.

  • Meet the German Shepherd Dog!

Meet the German Shepherd Dog breed! This is an intelligent, obedient, hard-working, and active dog breed, but it might not be the right dog for first-time dog owners. You definitely need to be committed to training and socializing this strong and active dog. German Shepherds love to work, and while they were bred to herd sheep, they make very good working dogs for police work, military, search and rescue, and service dogs. With proper training and socialization, these dogs make great family dogs and will be protective of their families, just as they would protect their flock!

  • Sugar-Free Gum Almost Killed Our Dog

We knew about chocolate and grapes being bad for dogs but had no idea that chewing gum could kill our dog. Yep, sugar-free gum, candy, or food that contains Xylitol can kill your dog. Thank goodness we Googled "dog ate chewing gum" all those years ago after one of our dogs got onto the kitchen table and got into a package of sugar-free gum. After a very expensive emergency vet visit, and a nerve-wracking 24 hours, we had a happy ending, but that's not the case for everyone. Please share this episode with all the dog parents in your life, because knowledge is power, and this episode could save a life!
