  • Re-issue: Wondrous Again w/ Dean Koontz

We are re-issuing our interview with book author Dean Koontz as it was the most popular episode of Dog Save The People during 2020. With the circumstances this past year of the pandemic, many found comfort and normalcy in the simple act of taking their dog for a walk every day. With Dean, observing his dog’s curiosity during walks, helped him to re-look at the world, he started being more observant of his immediate surroundings, more appreciative of everyday natural life outside We thought it would be fitting to share his episode again, as it's so representative of many dog owners around the world are feeling – now, more than ever. Dean Koontz is a number one bestselling author whose work spans six decades and has had both commercial and critical success. His books have sold more than 500 million copies to date. Koontz also has written about several dog characters in his work, including his new book DEVOTED. Dean has had three dogs of his own now – each of whom has had their own impact on him, but especially his first dog, Trixie. The dogs have come from Canine Companions for Independence, an organization that provides assistance dogs free of charge to adults, children, and veterans with disabilities – of which has become Dean’s favorite charity for giving his time and resources. Dogs have impacted Dean both on a personal and professional level, and you can really hear it in his voice. - SOCIAL MEDIA - Website - https://www.dogsavethepeople.com - Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/dogsavethepeople/ - Twitter - https://twitter.com/dogsavetheppl - Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/dogsavethepeople - FEATURED LINKS - Dean’s new book DEVOTED on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Devoted-Dean-Koontz/dp/1542019508 - Dean’s new book ELSEWHERE on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Elsewhere-Dean-Koontz/dp/1542019850 - Dean’s upcoming book THE OTHER EMILY on Amazon (March 2021) - https://www.amazon.com/Other-Emily-Dean-Koontz/dp/1542019958 - Dean Koontz website - https://www.deankoontz.com - Dean Koontz on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/deankoontzofficial - Dean Koontz on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/deankoontzofficial - Dean Koontz on Twitter - https://twitter.com/deankoontz - Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) website - https://www.cci.org - Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/ccicanine - Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/caninecompanions - Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) on Twitter - https://twitter.com/ccicanine - A Big Little Life memoir on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Big-Little-Life-Memoir-Joyful-ebook/dp/B004VNZHDC - Trixie’s books - https://www.deankoontz.com/trixie-booklist/

  • Looking Back w/ 2020 Guests

For the last day of the year, we thought it would be a good time to look back on the many guests we’ve had the pleasure of hosting on the podcast throughout 2020. During this crazy year, our dogs have kept us sane: whether helping provide normalcy during daily walks in the wild outdoors, keeping us company during an isolated time, or just giving us something to chuckle about during sobering moments. Thank you for listening to our show and helping us share these stories. We hope to bring you more great episodes in 2021, and for it to be a better year for everyone and their dogs. - SOCIAL MEDIA - Website - https://www.dogsavethepeople.com - Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/dogsavethepeople - Twitter - https://twitter.com/dogsavetheppl - Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/dogsavethepeople- Shop - https://www.dogsavethepeople.com/shop - Creative Commons Music by Jason Shaw on Audionautix.com

  • Right Boy, Right Time w/ Porochista Khakpour

Porochista Khakpour was struggling with an undiagnosed case of late-stage Lyme Disease, having to go through medical treatments every day. As a suggestion to help Porochista get through her disease recovery, her doctor encouraged her to consider an emotional support dog. He said there could be a positive impact on her health as a result, and he was right. She got a poodle puppy and never looked back. That dog, Cosmo, helped motivate her to take hikes outside, focus on someone else by taking him to puppy school, and bring a level of unconditional love that has led to them being an inseparable pair ever since. It's clear that Cosmo was crucial to her recovery and finding a new, positive way forward in her life. - SOCIAL MEDIA - Website - https://www.dogsavethepeople.com - Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/dogsavethepeople - Twitter - https://twitter.com/dogsavetheppl - Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/dogsavethepeople - FEATURED LINKS - Porochista Khakpour on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/pchza - Porochista Khakpour on Twitter - https://twitter.com/PKhakpour - Porochista Khakpour on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/PorochistaKhakpourAuthor - Porochista Khakpour’s book about her illness, SICK (2018) - https://www.amazon.com/Sick-Memoir-Porochista-Khakpour/dp/006242873X - Porochista Khakpour’s latest book, Brown Album: Essays on Exile and Identity (2020) - https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/598265/brown-album-by-porochista-khakpour/
