Cigar of the Week - 7-20-4 from KA Kendall. Kurt Kendall has been a long time cigar smoker and tobacconist with a strong sense of history. For several years he looked upon the once proud cigar factory at 175 Canal Street in Manchester, NH that housed the R.G. Sullivan 7-20-4 Cigar Factory, maker of fine $.10 cigars. The factory name of 7-20-4 was taken from the original location of the R.G. Sullivan factory at 724 Elm Street. According to Tony Hyman, the brand prospered from about 1910 until closing down in 1963. Kurt Kendal has created the new 7-20-4 cigar as a tribute to what was billed as "the finest 10 cent cigar in the world". Kendall worked for two years to recreate, as nearly as possible, the original blend. Hear more about his efforts in the interview later in the show. Available in 5 sizes, Corona, Churchill, Robusto, Torpedo and Gran Toro the line is robust and full flavored with excellent construction and a beautiful Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper, Columbian binder and fillers from several locations. Kurt is serious about the quality of this cigar insisting that is be aged an additional 120 days in the cedar boxes before being sold.

On the Dark Side - San Cristobol de la Habana El Principe; Factory name: Minutos, 4 3/8 (110cm)x42 San Cristóbal de la Habana was the original name of Havana, Cuba’s capital city, when it was founded in 1519; San Cristóbal (St Christopher) in honour of Columbus and La Habana after an Indian name for the site. San Cristóbal de la Habana cigars were introduced in 1999 as a tribute to the city’s long history on the threshold of the new Millennium. Its range is composed of four vitolas with a light to medium flavour using tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region. Each is named after one of the fortresses that defended the city in the days when it was the hub of Spain’s Latin American Empire. La Punta, La Fuerza, El Morro, El Principe and Oficios. Although there was a small brand named San Cristobal de le Habano prior to the revolution, it is not related to the current brand launched in 1999. This cigar is expected to age well with a slight increase in strength.

Cigar of the Week - Guantanamera 310 Robusto We were introduced to this cigar through our good friend Frank Herrera (CigarLaw) at the 2009 IPCPR. Guantanamera is a target of Habanos S.A. and Altadis for using the Guantanamera name. According to www.cigars-review.org, the Guantanamera line was announced in 2002 and released shortly after that in Cuba. Bob has relaxed conversation with Willie Herrera of El Titak de Bronze Cigars. Earthy flavors dominate; leather, peat, black tea and malted barley. Heavy bodied; thick dense smoke coats the mouth & sinuses on the retrohale. Very balanced with lots of pepper & spice in the last 3rd & on the finish. Room 101 by Camacho, 213 Corona - Honduran & D.R. fillers, Honduran binder with a Semilla 101 wrapper leaf grown just for this cigar line at Camacho farms. Nice draw, cold draw taste is sweet & nutty. Very woody throughout, oak is the dominate flavor. Coffee & licorice accent the oak in the middle of the cigar. Body settles in at med-heavy. Spices start sneaking in about halfway & really come on strong in the last 3rd. A long spicy finish with a unique herbal room aroma. El Titan de Bronze Redemption Maduro Corona Gorda - Excellent Nicaraguan tobaccos rolled in Miami & covered in a San Andres Maduro wrapper. Excellent draw! Flavors of dark chocolate, espresso and hazelnuts. Exotic spices play in & out, and there is some tangy citrus notes on the back end. Some creamy sweetness lies underneath. Med bodied, full flavored and medium in strength. Great example of that Nic Zing I love in a balanced yet complex cigar. Not for amateurs Aruhiba - a new cigar on the market from Aruba made from all Aruban tobacco grown and rolled by Benjamin Pedrosky. Big selleing point is that it is organic. So what, so are the premium cigars we are used to smoking. Jose L Piedra Cremas - Pretty much a waste of your time to smoke. It does not demonstrate any of the traits of a Cuban or any other cigar. Score: 6.2 Presentation: Bundle of 25 cigars AVO Domaine - The tobacco for the Domaine AVO cigars comes from the "Domaine AVO", a finca that belongs to Avo Uvezian. The wrapper leaves were developed especially for this series. They originate in Ecuador, where the special climate lends them their distinctive colour and the typical characteristics of a wrapper leaf. Los Blancos NINE - The Nine is Los Blancos's answer to the Cain, T110 and other full-bodied, triple ligero sticks. David would not tell me the exact specs. The cigar differs from other triple ligero sticks in its fermentation and the wrapper. Los Blancos uses an Oscuro wrapper that is very dark, and very oily (think Liga Privada). This is a very good looking smoke with great construction and a very nice heft to it.

Cain Maduro - Following on the heels of the NUB, Sam Lescia has produced another unigue cigar to stir up the business. The Oliva Cain Cigars are a triple-fremented all-ligero cigar that was released in August of 2009. The inspiration for the blend is the motto of "straight ligero".
