Dodgeball Baggage - The Jury is out The Cigar of the Week is the Cruzado Domenicos. From the mind of Dion Giolito, creater of Illusione Cigars, we get to sample his Cruzado line. The Domenicos is a 5 5/8” by 46 ring gauge Corona Gorda (Dion lists it as a Grand Corona in Perlmans) format. You’ll find Cruzado to be a tad lighter in body & flavor than Illusione. The filler is a blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan Criollo and Corojo tobaccos. The binder is Nicaraguan and the wrapper is Nicaraguan Criollo (Perlman lists it as a Colorado Maduro). The wrapper shades will run from Cafe Claro to Cafe Rosado. Cruzado cigars are manufactured in the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras and come packaged in wooden boxes with “partial dress” edge wrapping at 20 cigars to the box. CIgar of the Week - Punch Gran Puro Sierra –A Honduran Puro (another from General Cigar), the Punch Gran Puro Sierra is a 6.5” x 48 rg Toro sized cigar crafted in the Honduras American Tobaco S. A. Factory (HATSA) in Cofradia. The dark Havana Seed sun grown wrapper comes from the San Agustin Valley and imparts a bold, spicy flavor. The binder tobacco is also selected from the highest primings for full flavor. The Honduran Punch line was first imported to the US in 1969, and of course named after the famous Cuban brand. The Gran Puro line debuted in 2003 and is a great way to experience pure Honduran tobacco flavors. Available in 5 other sizes and all come in dress boxes of 25 cigars.

On the Dark Side - Marca - Cohiba, Frontmark - Lancero, Vitola - Laguito No. 1, Box code MEL Feb 08, 192 mm (7.6") x 39 ring gauge - We've mentioned before that prior to being released as a major market brand, Cohiba cigars were used as gifts from the Cuban government to visiting heads of state/etc... This Laguito No. 1 vitola was the preferred format for those gifts, which says something about how this format displays the blend.

Cigar of the Week - Don Tomas Clasico Presidente– With the length of the 109 vitola and the girth of the Canonazo, the 7.5” x 52 rg Presidente is among the size class we just refer to as Churchill in common usage today. From the General Cigar stable, the Don Tomas Clasico line has been produced in Danli Honduras since the 1970’s. Made in the Centro American Cigars, S.A. factory, the tobaccos in the blend are all Honduran except for the addition of some Nicaraguan tobacco in the filler. If the Presidente size is a bit much for you, 5 other sizes are also available, down to a 4” x 32 rg Coronitas. Packaging is in dress boxes of 25 cigars.

Bob gets his Tobacconist University Certification, but has to admit defeat at the hands of the Master Cigar Technician, both in score and time taken!
