It’s finally happened. As the season’s over and slowly fades out of our rear view mirror, we finally begin to unpack the Commanders’ wildly underwhelming year. Somehow, through all the twists and turns, the team ended up neither 3-14 nor 14-3, but yet again, squarely in the middle of the pack with plenty of uncertainty in the future. The guys begin to chip away at what was one wild ride of a season. 

Well... I guess that's it. Can you believe the NFL season came and went so fast? We certainly can't, but we're here to break it down for you anyways. So sit back, relax, and take it all in with us as we go over what was the best way to end the 2022 NFL season, an absolutely excellent game of football. 

The big game is here and we could not be more excited about it. We’re not even gonna waste your time with a clever description, Super Bowl Sunday is upon us, let’s get into it. 

After an absolutely thrilling wild card weekend, Dom and Pop break down their picks for the divisional round, as well as do a brief recap of the most recent Commanders news. 

What more is there to say, its super wild card weekend, the beginning of the best time of the NFL season. The guys break down their picks and get into all of the storylines for wild card weekend as well as giving their playoff brackets and Super Bowl picks.

Although it’s true all season, it’s never truer than in week 18, you are what your record is. And for the Commanders, that is mathematically eliminated. So with “nothing to lose” in a “meaningless” game against the Cowboys, the burgundy and gold will roll out Sam Howell, 5th round rookie out of University of North Carolina as their starter. In an effort to so perfectly toe the line between “seeing what they have” and “remembering either way that it’s only one game” the Commanders will roll out their 3rd QB of the year for the 3rd year in a row under Ron Rivera. Maybe, just maybe, this is the light at the end of the decades-long tunnel and the beginning of something beautiful. We’ll let you know what we think in this week’s episode. 

Stop me if you've heard this one before... In a must win game against one of the worst teams in the NFL who had absolutely nothing to play for Carson Wentz took a complete and utter deuce effectively ending his team's season and potentially his career as a starting QB in the NFL. At least he left no doubt as to whether or not Rivera made the right decision, both in going back to him, and in bringing him in in the first place. We wish we could say we're surprised. 

The Commanders faced off against the 49ers in a Christmas Eve clash that left many fans feeling like they had gotten coal in their stocking. For a game that started off so even, things got out of control exponentially, ending in a QB change that will likely stick for the rest of the season. That's right, Carson Wentz is back under center. The guys get into all that and more as they look ahead to their face off against the Cleveland Browns this week on the  Dom and Pop DC Sports Talk + Podcast. 

Well. Think of as bad as that could have gone. Draw it up in your head. No, really, focus on it. That's how bad that went. An absolute ass kicking through and through, from the Giants' defensive line to Scott Turner's lack of ability to call run plays when his running back is averaging 7 yards per carry to the absolutely miserable refereeing, there was simply not enough to get the job done this week. At least we play legitimate super bowl contenders in 2 of our next 3 games. That should be fun. 

Here. We. Go. It's December. The trees are decorated, the bye weeks have all passed, and the Commanders control their own destiny. Despite a disappointing (?) tie in the Meadowlands, the Washington Commanders currently stand as number 6 in the NFC with a legitimate shot to solidify their playoff hopes this weekend against their division rivals in prime time. For the real fans, this is what it's all about.
