  • American Football – DD9
    In this episode, Dom starts off talking about his experience playing football as a kid, with friends in the schoolyard, neighborhood, and in organized leagues, and the positions that he played.
     
    Next, Dom talks about getting into football as a kid and being a Vikings fan, watching games with his dad, going to a game with his mom, watching games when he was in the Navy, and after the Navy. He also talks about losing touch with football, and touching base with it again when he was living in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  He also talks about after he and Tracy move back to Bangkok, and watching games, and then getting the NFL package through NFL.com.
     
    The Vikings have been to the Superbowl four (4) times, Superbowl IV, VIII, IX, XI, and haven’t won it yet.  Only one team has been to the Superbowl more times with losses, but they have won a few Superbowls, and the Vikings are tied with the Buffalo Bills with most Superbowl appearances without a win.
     
    Dom talks about some of his memories with football, from watching that game with his mom, watching Randy Moss‘s & Randall Cunningham, Brett Favre.  Struggling with Christian Ponder, watching Matt Cassel doing well then flounder.  Watching Teddy Bridgewater come to lead the Vikings.  The struggle with what happened with Adrian Peterson, and coming around to loving watching him play again.

  • Fitness 101 – DD8
    Dom invites special guest, Niall Watts to the show.

    Together they talk about different aspects of fitness.  Niall talks about how long he has been into fitness, what are some of the things he loves when training people, and things he hated.
     
    They talk about some of our favorite exercises and some of our least favorite exercise, and why they are our favorite or least favorite.


    Niall also gives a few suggestions for people starting out to get fit, and things to help prevent burning out.
    Dom and Niall talk about how they feel about Body Mass Index (B.M.I.).
     
    Nial also recommends different types of workouts.  One is called Bar Training Calisthenics, and the other is called Joint Mobility Exercises.
     
    Dom surprises Niall by having Niall do an always remember at the end of the show.

    Dom talks about the three (3) role playing games that he loved playing.

    He also talks a little about the differences in electronic role playing games and pen and paper or tabletop role playing games.
    Shadowrun
    Dom explains about the time when he played Shadowrun and talks about the Archetypes and Races that are found in Shadowrun.  He also talks about why he liked Shadowrun and why he didn’t like Shadowrun.
     
     
    Cyberpunk
    Secondly, he talks about when he played Cyberpunk, the different Races and Roles that can be found in Cyberpunk and what he has played.  He also talks about the things he liked and didn’t like about Cyberpunk.
     
    Dungeons and Dragons
    Dom’s all time love in role playing games.  He talks about what he loves about it and what he dislikes about it.  He talks about the different races and classes that can be played as well as what he has played.  He talks about when he was a player and when he ran games (Dungeon Master).  He also talks about creating he own worlds in D&D.
     
    Dom finishes off the podcast with a poem he wrote after Gary Gygax, the creater of Dungeons & Dragons, passed away.

  • Singapore – DD5
    First Trip To Singapore
    Dom talks a bit about his and Tracy’s first trip to Singapore ten (10) years ago.  He talks about the place they stayed, which was The Inn on Temple Street, and talks a little bit about what the rooms were like.
     
    Next he talks about Chinatown, and what the market is like. He talks about the shops and the restaurants and the place Tracy took him for his first Singaporean coffee called kopi su su, which was a very sweet and creamy coffee.
     
    Dom also talks about the tattoo parlour that he and Tracy went to, to get their tattoo of double happiness on the base of their necks on their backs, and how they talked to one of the new tattoo artists there.
     
    This Trip
    Dom talks this trip to Singapore.  Talks about the hotel they stay at, what the room is like, and what the view is like.  He also talks about finding out how to get to Chinatown from the hotel by talking to the desk clerk.  They walk from the hotel to Chinatown and find a place to eat, which happens to be the same place Tracy introduced Dom to Singaporean coffee.  Tracy is excited, because when she lived in Singapore and when her and Dom visited before, she was a vegetarian, and now she gets to try all kinds of other Singaporean food that she couldn’t eat before.  The first night, they have beef with noodles and prawn (shrimp) with noodles and egg rolls.  While they are there, they see people eating crab, and Tracy had never had crab before, so they decide that they will go back the second night have try it.  The second night, they have crab legs in black pepper sauce, and Tracy loved crab.
     
    For their first full day, they wonder up South Bridge Road and North Bridge Road and check out a few shopping centers that they see.  In one of the shopping centers, they see a board game called Samurai, which they don’t buy then, but they do buy the next day.  At about lunch, they are in their third shopping center and they find a good food center and have a very good lunch.  After lunch, they go to a book shop called MPH and buy a couple of books.
     
    For their second full day, they go to Orchard Road and wonder the shopping centers there, finishing up at the shopping center that had the board game Samurai and they buy that and head back to the hotel.  For dinner, they have murtabak for dinner, going for one vegetable and one chicken, and both are delicious.
     
    For their third and final full day in Singapore, they go swimming at the hotel and also go to a temple that has a Buddha tooth relic, and Dom describes that.

  • Back to Bangkok – DD4
    Reason to Move Back to Bangkok
     
    Dom starts off the show by talking about what prompted them to move back to Bangkok from Chiang Mai, which was Tracy being promoted from a part time teacher to Head of Kids in Pinkloa in Bangkok.
     
    Finding a Place to Live in Bangkok
    They take a trip to Bangkok to find a place to live that will allow them to have a dog and 2 cats.  They find a nice two (2) story, three (3) bedroom house that has two (2) 3/4 bathrooms with a nice sized yard and a really nice landlady named Parn.
     
    They did eventually move from there when Parn had her house torn down to build a new one, but they are still friends and talk.  They now live in Sukhumvit.
     
    Work
    Dom goes back to work at Elite when he moves back to Bangkok, which he becomes the head of kids, designing courses, assessing reports, and teaching for them.  Dom and Elite do eventually part ways, but Dom still works with them from time to time.
     
    Yoga
    While living in Bangkok, Dom gets back into studying yoga.  When he started studying yoga again, Dom weighed about 260 pounds (117.9 kg).  It didn’t take long for Dom to get his weight down to about 225 pounds (102 kg).  His goal is to eventually get down to 200 pounds (90.72 kg).  Dom also went on to do a yoga teacher training course at Yoga Elements.  Dom does eventually move away from yoga.
     
    Tai Chi
    Dom finds a Tai Chi instructor through studying yoga at Yoga Elements.  He really enjoyed this, but he is eventually dismissed from studying tai chi because his teacher because the teacher thought he was too angry.
     
    Mixed Martial Arts
    A friend Dom has from yoga brings him to Chulalonkorn University, where he learns mixed martial arts (mma) and practices with the team at Chulalonkorn University called Burn Shell and trains with the team and meets a guy named Shannon Cai, and trains a few times with him.
     
    Karate
    Dom finds a karate studio near where he lives Samurai Dojo, where they teach JKS Shotokan Karate.  The instructor at the dojo Kagawa Sensei, which is  the son of the head of JKS Shotokan Karate world head.  At the time of this podcast, Dom is 3rd brown belt, which is 1st Kyu, and his next test will be for his Shodan, which is first degree black belt.
