Welcome back to Don’t Alert the Stans!
After an unintentional hiatus due to technical difficulties, Sope, Nic and Eden are back to deliver another entertaining episode. A #RespectingLegends celebration of Brandy kicks off this week’s proceedings as Sope highlights the 25th anniversary of Brandy’s self-titled album and her vast influence on modern R&B music. Opening the news section is the announcement that the Brit Awards will potentially axe gendered categories for their 2021 ceremony onwards to accommodate non-binary artists like Sam Smith who has now decided to be referred to be they/them. The fallout from Lizzo accusing a Postmates employee of stealing her food continues as it comes out that the employee in question is now fearing for her life and is afraid to leave her house. Eden proceeds to put her blast claiming that she has a penchant to work against black women. Remy Ma is once again in hot water for being a rape apologist and patriarchal princess after likening rape victims who accept compensation to prostitutes. Rounding out the episode is the news that Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will be headlining the Superbowl Halftime Show in 2020.

Welcome back to Don’t Alert the Stans!
For this week’s episode, Sope returns from San Francisco and true to form kicks off the episode by #RespectingLegends. Leading a tribute to the late songwriter/producer LaShawn Daniels who helmed songs for the likes of Brandy, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Destiny’s Child, Blaque and more, shining a light on his indelible contributions to R&B music (00:13:20). Unsurprisingly, Wiley’s antics make their way onto the agenda yet again as he continues his tirade against Drake. This time due to vocal clearance issues with Popcaan who is signed to Drake’s OVO imprint (00:17:52). Next up is a discussion on the wider societal implications regarding Mac Miller’s fatal drug-dealer being arrested and charged (00:43:04). Tekashi 6ix9ine is back in the headlines as details pertaining to the proceedings of his upcoming trial become increasingly public where he is set to testify against several members of the Nine Trey Bloods gang (00:50:09). A brief conversation about the news that Megan Thee Stallion has signed a management deal with Roc Nation soon follows (01:01:16). Rounding out the episode is a biting dissection about *that* kiss between Camilla Cabello and Shawn Mendes, questioning whether their relationship is genuine or the work of music industry politics (01:04:54).

Welcome back to Don’t Alert the Stans!
For this week’s episode, the boys are missing a limb as Sope is in San Francisco for the week. Eden and Nic power through, first celebrating a year of 'Don't Alert The Stans' and echoing the importance of teamwork. Soon after, the pair discuss the importance of album campaigns as a part of a segway, noting the success of Kano and Ghetts' rollouts. The news of the week shortly follows, with Eden spotlighting Brent Faiyaz and his abilities to gain money as an artist through streaming and strategic touring. Nic then tackles Lana Del Ray's reactions to a mixed review via NPR. Lil Nas X is then focused on, with Nic and Eden both mocking Kevin Hart's responses to him on 'The Shop'. Lastly, both of co-hosts articulate their exhaustion with Nicki Minaj and her latest antics.

The boys discuss whether its fair to say that Lizzo really stole the tweet and the potential legalities. Welcome back to Don’t Alert the Stans!
For this week’s episode, it is considerably shorter than usual due to technical difficulties but nonetheless Eden, Nic and Sope bring the same vim, hilarity and knowledge that you’ve come to expect. Kicking off the news this week is Taylor Swift’s decision to re-record her entire back catalogue as a way of combatting Scooter Braun profiting off her masters. Sope in particular ponders whether this will actually do anything in the grand scheme of things. Next up, the boys delve deep into the ongoing and continued fallout from Jay Z’s partnership with the NFL, breaking down the latest reactions from Cardi B, Freddie Gibbs, Dame Dash and Colin Kapernick’s attorney. In what seems to be an occurrence of no research or vetting, the boys confusingly wonder why Rihanna will be honouring Shaun King at her next Diamond Ball Charity Event. Rounding off the news is the announcement that Stormzy and Maya Jama have broken up and the allegations that a Jorja Smith affair was the catalyst.

Welcome back to Don’t Alert the Stans! For this week’s episode the boys are joined by UK Hip-Hop artist/producer Kadiata. In addition to churning out incredible songs for himself like ‘Margherita’ and ‘Goodnight’, he has also helmed songs for the likes of Sam Wise, Che Lingo, Mirra May and Jgrrey. Inspired by one of Eden’s suggestions, the boys speak about songs and artists guaranteed to elevate their moods. Kicking off the news section is Chance The Rapper’s recent thread on Twitter alleging that the public are driving him to be suicidal because of the polarising reaction to his debut album (23:40). Next up, the boys weigh in on the massive spread of ‘Greatest Rapper’ lists that have been making waves on social media (37:07). Rounding off the news section is an extended conversation on Mahalia’s back and forth with a Twitter troll, who insinuated that she is emblematic of a problem the British music industry has with propping up lightskinned R&B female singers (59:05). Concluding the episode is an interview with Kadiata (1:22:20). Delving deep into the semantics around pop music, how he approaches producing for himself versus other artists, the thought process behind his visuals and much more. Not one to miss!

Welcome back to Don’t Alert the Stans!
For this week’s episode a scathing review of Chance The Rapper’s debut album ‘The Big Day’ starts off proceedings. The boys evaluate the reaction on social media compared to the praise from traditional media platforms (00:17:33). Kicking off the news topic is an update on A$AP Rocky’s trial following his recent release from prison in Sweden (00:36:29). Lil Nas X officially has the longest running no.1 single of all time and the boys weigh in on how the pervasiveness of streaming has lessened the significance of setting and breaking records (00:40:24). Ramz’s revelation that he is now seeking professional help in wake of the fear that he was suicidal sparks Eden to lead a discussion on the dangers of cyberbullying (00:52:55). Wrapping things up is an ironic dissection of Iggy Azalea’s sophomore album ‘In My Defense’ in light of her disappointment about it flopping on Billboard (01:04:10).

Welcome back to Don’t Alert the Stans!
AND WE BACK! ISSA NEW SEASON!
For the first episode of Season 3, the boys share their thoughts on Alex From Glasto’s debut single and the implications of having a respected platform for Black British music like GRM Daily premiering the track. Sope and Nic reflect on their time at the 2019 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans and recount their experiences watching legendary acts like Mary J. Blige, New Edition and Missy Elliott in addition to newer acts like Lucky Daye and Normani. In light of Mel B’s comments that Jessie J is “overrated”, the boys put their two pence on the sentiment that the UK allegedly failed Jessie J’s career. Arguably the biggest topic of the week, Eden leads a discussion on ASAP Rocky officially being charged with aggravated assault and the complicated issue as to whether black people should be rallying for him in light of his problematic views on police brutality and black women. Rounding things off is the boys evaluating why Tyler, The Creator deserved to beat DJ Khaled to the number one spot on Billboard.

Welcome back to Don’t Alert the Stans!
Welcome back to the second installment of our Season 2 finale. In this episode we continue our conversation with DJ and Presenter Smoothfuego. For this in-depth interview segment Eden, Nic and Sope ask Smoothfuego about the genesis of his 360RNB initiative with an insight into planning behind their debut live show. The state of UK R&B and how is it received in comparison to the US market is discussed while also trying to pin down why London is recognized as the only hub for talent in the UK. The boys also ask about how the changes Smoothfuego has seen in the DJ scene as the barriers to entry have slowly and slowly become less restricting. All the while dropping names and gems of new and upcoming artists we all should have on our radars.
